I'm colombian and Diaz goal was beautiful, but Lazaro's is a more difficult version of it, I'm impressed. Gauthier Hein's was also sick. That's my top 3.

The Colombian goal was in copa America against one of the best teams in the world Brasil, and that criteria my friend has a lot of weight when it comes to deciding the best goal, in my opinion Luis Diaz goal was among the best 3 in this countdown at least, it's not the same scoring a jewel of a goal against a top team than scoring a jewel of a goal against some second rated team that nobody knows, anyway that's my opinion. Lamela's goal is definitely Puskas-Level because it is a situation where doing a Rabona is the only good option. The technical requirements to get that goal, the accuracy between legs straight to the corner and the power behind the ball's speed, is what demands a master level of ability and is what makes the goal very technically difficult. Also, what makes the goal special is that Lamela's shot was the ONLY shot that could go in from the position/situation he was in. If he tries to shoot with his left foot then the angle is blocked by defenders, and if he tries with his right foot his momentum is already on his right foot meaning he would have to shift his weight to his left in order to get his right foot off the ground. This would give the defenders enough time to read and counter him, making shooting with the right physically impossible without taking longer and giving the defense more time. Lastly, a situation where a Rabona is the ONLY option for scoring in football is EXTREMELY RARE (more than bicycle); the unique process of shooting a Rabona contains very little .
So not only is it an example of masterful technique and an extremely rare situation but what puts it above the rest is he was able to recognize that he only had one type of shot to make without having to take more time AND how little time he had to read the situation as that unique situation was created in less than half a second. Such a short time to read a situation and make a decision (0.4s) is not enough for the human brain to actively read the situation, rather it forcefully relies upon it's natural instinct.
And it is this demonstrated extraordinary footballing instinct that sets Erik Lamela's goal apart form the rest as one of the best goals of the year, if not one of the best instinctive goals of all time.
I hesitate between Valentino and Mehdi because they are the most beautiful goals and the most difficult to achieve. Vangelis's goal is extremely underestimated, it's the 3rd best goal for me.

I will add Erik Lamela to honorable mention...
His goal was superb,..but after considering the previous winners most of goals counts on beautiful, stylish, unique goals so according to that specific reason he is less chances to win the award but i didn't say his goal was not good or beautiful . So, precisely Lazaro or Schick or Lamela will likely to honour puskas award and i think among one of them will bag this award.

Lazaro was sick but it is not pure football skills... its more acrobatic.

As a FC Porto fan, I would really like to have Taremi winning the award. Though I find it hard, watching the other amazing goals. If he eventually wins, it will be because it was on Champions league against one of the best teams in the world right now.

I am so sick of seeing bicycle kicks or random acrobatic goals. They are amazing but there is a little extra element of gamble compared to other nominations, especially if they decide very quickly to do it. I feel like composed goals are a better representation of a good goal, ie zidanes volley, or long run and perfectly placed goals.
