Just took delivery of mine. My first mini crawlers were an MN99S and a WPLC24-1. This little beast is next level . Beautifully put together. Powerful. Tight turning circle. Awesome little climber. Panda all the way.....🎉❤
Late 40s to up to 68, but generally 46 to 50 or so. They made these as special order rigs to 68. My second car was a 1941 1/2 ton military closed cab pickup with winch, rounded nose and hood was slightly different but you could tell it was related to the later military and civilian versions. Horrible gas mileage, slow, and could climb, bounce, or knock over anything I came up against. Very cool rig and they were made to run in low gear or low range over anything without damage loaded.
One of the things I've noticed with me getting into crawlers: a LOT of the chinese crawlers are all very very very similar if not identical but with different names and model numbers. That chassis looks very much like many others I've seen. It appears they've made some changes, with the motor, shocks, and motor mount. I priced it out May 2022 and at $250 cdn I would think it would have more metal parts in the suspension.
Really nice rig. Listed at a ridiculous price for Canadians though. It's like $250 before duty. With that budget you can easily replace the electronics and shocks of any WPL/MN/etc of your choosing.
A good friend of mine has 1 of these. He mainly bought it as he owns the actual Dodge Powerwagon from the 40's. These things are pretty decent for the money which I was surprised
I love the little course you made! How do you feel about the throttle response? Other videos show a jerky throttle. Evrything else about this truck looks great though!
This one's a winner gov, it's priced up there a bit, but, looks fully worth. Quite smooth, might have to seriously look into to this one, cheers gov!!👍💯
I just picked one of these up today and was so stoked to fire it up. Unfortunately it was a dud. Steering worked great but no motor. Actually, it was no motor, then gave it a little push and a few pumps on the throttle and it made one lap and then totally stopped never to move again... I was getting voltage to the motor connections but no go. Is there something I could be overlooking?
@@TomleyRC A brand new local shop called TandemRC. (Mesa, AZ) The owner is a super cool guy and I already went back and exchanged it for one that we tested before I left. Probably was just a bad motor. The new one worked with no issues but I haven't got to really drive it for real yet. It's drying from a spray of waterproofing right now and hopefully I'll be crawling this evening. BTW I couldn't find the brands of sprays I've seen recommended but when I asked for "electronics waterproof spray" the guy at home depot pointed me to CRC 2-26 Multi-purpose precision lubricant. Do you know if that is an acceptable substitute? It says "light coat to protect surfaces and seal out moisture" and "safe for plastics". So I hope I didn't make a mistake dousing the parts with it. Guess i will find out.
I was thinking about getting one of those a while back looks awesome really thinking about getting one now. By the way i think its modelled after a 50's or 60's dodge power wagon
@@TomleyRC At first sight is nice, now after your review, I think is a good/beautiful truck, that I'd like to get one. Great capabilities all on stock, shocks, 3 speeds is the must amazing secret, really Wow! Have a nice weekend bro!!
Looks like a really decent little crawler and the packaging and presentation was great too! I wonder if there's any relation to the Panda stuff Thunder Tiger used to sell over here and I think Varicom sold in the US
I was wondering if anyone could advise. I just had to bring home my Charisma Scale Adventure Lynx as it lost all forward drive. It still has reverse and steering, just won't drive forward. The ESC lights up to show that it's receiving a signal but has no forward drive. Is this a quick fix or has the ESC been cooked? Oh, great video btw!
Ok so after a bit of investigation, I came to the conclusion that the trucks manual was all but useless. It only outlined what earth beep represents and has seemingly no programming features. It's running a Hobbywing wp-1040 straight out of the box. After visiting the Hobbywing site it was clear that not even they support it anymore. Only the EZRun and Quicrun lines. So I did some digging around the forums and found a "Jerry Rig" solution of unplugging the motor wires and using a 9v battery to test it. I also reversed the wires and it now runs forward with no reverse. For this I reckon the ESC is shot. Does any of this sound familiar to you? 🤔
@@TomleyRC think if i were dropping that kind of money on a crawler i would be getting the FTX outback 2 ranger, but i have spent a small fortune on a crawler that i just dont like, and now looking at having to spend even more to get it right
Looks really good but I dont understand why they cant gear it even lower to make the low end torque better. No need for any speed on machines like this. If the low end would be better I would buy this directly.
Well, I´m properly impressed! Oil shocks, a high-turn 180 motor (no nerf gun tackle here!) and a proper servo, all in a 1:18 scaler! The body, incidentally, seems to be a pastiche of the 1950s Dodge Powerwagon (here´s Jezza explaining: ruclips.net/video/e8GdadQzMeo/видео.html ). It only remains for Panda RC to act upon my fervent hope that they might move into the 1:12 scale sector of the market, and to go over to hard bodies. I do like a firm, hard body - my wife feels the same way, too.
a buddy had one, the whole body must have been 3/32" thick steel, like some of the old Willis Overland (Jeep) flat fender trucks that were almost unstoppable.
Fantastic Little Scsle Rig, I like that body to, great little Course to, I was driving home from work and on the Side of the Road was a Wheel arch from a Artic Truck, 😁 had to stop and grab it lol 😂, am going to use it as a Arch Bridge for my Crawlers 😁 anyway I really enjoyed your video as Always Phil 👍😎🥰👍
Lot cheaper on other sites you can get this from panda hobby through amazon for 109.99 or some rc sites all ask 109.99 i also found it on ebay same price as well don't know why BG went with the price they did
yup they a "bit" proud of it, I like how it looks and its features no prob, but you can turn a WPL into a beast for a lot less expense. A285004 oil shocks (modified) giving 2-1/4" one wheel lift is a whole lot of flex for its size. it adds up: metal axle gears 12 bucks, metal axle casings 12 bucks, metal drive shafts 7 bucks, oil shocks 12 bucks, there went 43 bucks, or 31 if you skip the metal axle casings. skipping the shocks going longer rods in the stock ones gets it down to 20 bucks with 1-3/4" one wheel lift (about 1/2" more than a stock C-frame), I've typed "how to" many times/places. cooked up a budget steering link mod for ditching bump steer, a real issue with WPL C-frame type models.
My panada hobby experience has been absolute garbage, avoid this brand, zero support, had the car about 2 months now, still not running, no reply from Panda, no phone number to call, BEWARE. I knew I was taking a chance, they proved I was correct....Spend the extras 50 bucks on something else and aquire a power wagon body elsewhere.....

The old "Dodge power wagon" body rocks. The kit looks to be of very high quality!
The x1 and the x2 both flex correctly and have metal shocks. this one has binding suspension links if you pull the shocks off i think.

It does look very nice as does the Blazer body they do, which 1/18 or 1/24 scale is the best all rounder though ?
