This really sounds like transcendental étude no.2 "Fusees"

Because it's the same thing, transcendental études are just an improved version of this set (études en douzes exercices)

@@zakazaka4459 "improved" i think these are much clearer in their intent than the transcendental etudes. You can tell liszt was mostly showing off how hard he can play rather than focusing on how it sounded in the later versions. That being said, Mazeppa slaps. Other than that i like the early versions of these songs

@@kasmirperriman9360 I'm sorry but I completely disagree. The transcendental études are not simply pieces made for the sake of difficulty. That is a common view of someone who hasn't listened very well to the entire set but I don't know if you have. In my opinion, the transcendental études are very beautiful pieces despite their difficulty with much more to offer than the S.136 études. If you haven't, listen to some of the lesser played transcendentals like no.11 or 7 or 6 or 3 which are all very good and not very difficult relative to famous ones like Mazeppa (which I also think is really good). Also you called them songs.

@@kasmirperriman9360 I get what you mean. I think that the technical and mechanical ideas are much clearer in these but the transcendental etudes apply them in a more important musical context. I think it is because these are exercise etudes and the transcendentals are concert etudes, which are generally more ear-catching. Both sets are brilliant.

etudes en douze exercises are prototypes of transcendental etudes
