Funnily enough, I've been using a DIY system similar to this for camping and hiking since I was about 14. My mates at scouts and I figured out we could make a cheaper alternative to buying a Trangia camping stove, which to anyone who doesn't know, is basically just a brass receptical filled with methylated spirits with a perforated iron lid with what equates to a tripod or pot stand with a cookpot above the fire. What my mates and I did was we got a medium-sized can, cut a hole in the side toward the bottom large enough to pass one of those kiddy corn cans through, added perforations to the top of the big can under the rim. Got a little kiddy corn can, stuffed toilet paper into it, then filling the can with the desired amount of metho/alcohol lighting it, then putting it through the side of the big can. the stove would then be ready to have a saucepan or small pot sitting on top of the open big can to cook some food.
I've shown your video to a couple of my mates and now we're trying to make a more stable version. AWESOME video!!

I remember using a similar technique when my power was out many years ago. I used the toilet paper/alcohol trick. Empty out the contents of the can into your cooking vessel, remove the cardboard tube, stuff the toilet paper into the can your food came in, pour in the alcohol, light it and set it in between enough bricks to clear the height of the can, then set the pot on top with enough room to not extinguish the flame. Very useful when you're in a major pinch like that.

And dealing with thoughts and life. They would get a garden Hoe and shorten it and bundle their belongings in a large, like handkerchief and sling it on the Hoe and the handle over one shoulder to carry.Thank you for video.

I used to make hobo stoves all the time in cub scouts. the ones I made used a big empty can (usually baked beans) cut the top off but leave the bottom on. then make a large hole that's about 1/4 to 1/3 of the circumference then about halfway up the side of the can. then make holes near the top of the can, for air. light a fire in the big hole, and you're done. the bottom of the can becomes a flat top stove that you can put a big pot on. maybe make it a competition like the dakota fire pit? see which hobo stove is the best
