So many nuanced options are what make the ships in this game so awesome. We can look at specs all day, but in the end it comes down to what sparks joy in the each of us. I personally love the idea of being a space trucker, but I also lean towards being a bounty hunter. One man's boring is another's relaxing.
Yeah the nomad is still a good option
The Titan has two size one shields just like the Syulen. The Syulen biggest adventage is its range.
The Aurora and Mustang have 2x size one shield also. While the Nomad has three.
Two shields was kind of standard but when CIG started coming out with bigger nicer interiors in newer ships they kind of balanced the ships out by giving the less of a combat focus.
Considering that $80 ships are now considered starter ships, the 300 series really should be included as well. But the more I see of the Syulen, the more I like it.
The thing is to be considered a starter ship it is labelled as one in the store and it comes with a game package
@@-Seek-17 The 300i (if not more of them) were game packages until recently but I still kind of agree. If you entering the game today and only buying one ship the 300 series is not an option... But... because of the ways CCUs work you can still upgrade to them and be in the same price range.
Of course the Arrow is also in the same price range and comes with the game package but people tend not consider it because it's not as multipurpose. All the packages that include the game are called starter packages on the store including Connie, Cutty, Freelancer, etc. (obviously leaving the size category and costing over $100)
@@Accuracy158 yeah I guess we all have our different views.
I find the 125a to be the most convenient starter ship for everything except cargo hauling. It's speed, visibility and easy access is unmatched imo.
I love the Sulan, it's fun, cool looking, little house built in! It's fast, long range, 12!!! Size 2 missles.. 3, size 3 guns.. cargo space, gun racks that look super awesome!
Overall for $70ish bucks.. it's amazing! I love it!
Yea I’ve only ever got a drake cutter pledge when it first came out and as soon as I saw this ship I upgraded to it right away just because how it looks
Dood your almost at 3k nice!
Good videos keep it up 👍🏼
Soon ™️
Great talk. You are appreciated. Thank you. (Starbuck)
Great vid. I think the Syulen is the most beautiful ship yet released, but the Nomad is better for gameplay functionality all day 8 days a week (except for combat, if that's your primary thing).
I think the nomad and the Syulen are the best starting ships, if you want to take the cargo route take the nomad if npc bounty hunting is your thing go with the syulen
@@marcuswynn89 the syulen also looks amazing. + points for style and uniqueness. But the nomad can carry vehicles wich gives it a massive point up. You can get your cyclone for box missions or bunkers. Or a roc for mining.
@@marcuswynn89 well i also think the syulen, drake cutter and avenger titan are tied for 2nd place.
I came into the video thinking the Titan was the better ship, but the shielding aspect is a really good point. Also the C8R is for sure in the game; it's a fun little health shuttle when the bed doesn't send you to the shadow realm.
the titan actually has two shields as well, others as well, e.g. the mustang has 2
@@konigdiamant5080 ahhh, didn't know that. Then yeah I think I still prefer the Titan.
I've been trying out the Syulen and the only problem is the missiles, if it gets hit they will blow away one, two or even the three arms and you are stuck without forward thrusters. I love it, but that's a deal breaker for me right now, it seems made of paper against missiles.
Love the 2900 quantum fuel tank.
CR8... you can do everything but cargo and it comes with food water meds every time you spwan it and a med bed... best starter...
I can see the appeal but I personally prefer the Nomad. It has 3 S1 shields carries more cargo and can even carry a Roc
But it can't really fight... Or can't it? The tractor on it is good tho
Great vid man.
This is awesome for new players, will pass it forward.
Well, I'd say that this ship really only works for PvE, and a personal shuttle. The Syulen is too big to be a legitimate combat contender. It also can't carry any passengers (safely). It is also plenty slow in atmosphere. It does have good range and is well appointed on the interior.
I finally after all this time upgraded my starter Titan to a Syulen. I rarely fly the Titan anymore but is has my SQ42 tied to it so it has to stay.
All ship in your display beside the Syulen can be purchased in game. First ship I flown in was the Avenger titan. For the size 1 ship. i fly in your list is the C8 Med, & Cuttlite.( Cutter)
Cutter is the best starter in my opinion. I just wish that ground vehicles that can fit inside would leave a tiny bit more space for the pilot to walk around.
As much as i love the syulen, it doesn't compare against the titan or the nomad.
Bunker missions won't be doable as much as the ship size is just so big that you would need to land far far away in order to not get shot. Plus the 3x size 2 cargo won't allow a vehicle to compensate for that.
It flies very well but it is such a large target the more you hit it the more will break off and the more and more the fight will be over. The titan is smaller, has stronger guns, hss more cargo, can fit a vehicle, doesn't get weak when being shot (flies still pretty well with one wing missing) and i didn't check on the pledge store but i believe price is vers similar aswell. Maneuverability is also there and also has 2 suze 1 shields.
So far nothing beats the titan in the starter category.
Main downfall is no space for vehicle, large size so bunkrr turrets will shoot you so you need to land far away, because of the large footprint cannot land on uneven terrain, and in combat the more which does get shot off the more its maneuverability falls behind.
I would have considered it closer to the titan if it would have +1 more shield like the nomad for its size. But like this... Its a sold starter but definitely not the best option available.
I am going to say I am quick to correct you on this one :D
But actually you are right. The Syulen is a good starter ship and has nothing more or less then the other starter ships currently.
syulen its soo nice very pretty and powerfull ship
yeah im going to daily it for a while
I am liking it a lot. At the end of the AEI I will decide if I buy it or not, but more for fun than other reason. Is fast well armed and above all, great endurance, but that can change, so I will not bet all my chips on endurance. for "fighting" missions, the avenger is better. Smaller, more punch, and 8scus. For hauling and car transportation, the nomad is better. and for the price, the 300 series should be also considered. But this one is the coolest by far, and that also matters...
Great video and breakdown!
People say the Syulin is a bad starter ship. I dont understand why. Its so well rounded. I think its one of the best starter ships, that are not specialized in any profession, plus it handles really nice and has a good range. What more can you ask of a multi purpus starter?
Yeah it can touch every style of gameplay
Can't fit large cargo boxes, needs time to get used to flying wise and the crossection is too big, takes time to get into the pilot seat. Tbh avanger is better, less misses but way more fighting ability.
If you have any questions about pvp, I’m more than happy to answer and help! Let me know!
I really like the syulen. It's gorgeous and very versatile. I do think it's not tough enough for how big it is; maybe that will change when they add armor to the game.
I enjoy cargo running; it's relaxing and very profitable in the right ship, though it currently lacks depth.
The Syulen doesn't look like it will get strong armor but it has a lot of maneuvering thrusters. It is probably the most maneuverable ship for its size in the game and that is really the selling point of the Xian style ships. To me the ship is a good upgrade over a 315p since it feels like an exploration ship in the same vein as the 315p. We have to see how sensors start coming into the game.
Really cool ship! Anyone know if you'll be able to play as alien race eventually?
I just cant see my human chracter flying one of those around haha I would prefer an alien
2015 I bought the mustang starter pack and did t really play much.
Now 2023 I am starting to play again and I have to say i think I love the relaxed and laid back route ... of course I upgraded the mustang to the Nomad.
The only thing we need now is a space trucker radio station and i am all set😂
the game has GREAT music but yeah i would love like a Spotify or Soundcloud in game app, that would be so cool
o7 ... I agree, the Syulen was my starter ship
How often has Star Citizen released a new ship which out performs it's peers, then gets nerfed into the ground?
I am probably biased because I've flown one for quite a while, but I still think the Avenger Titan is hands down the best starter ship. It is the definitive multi-role utility ship.
I used to make around 50k per half hour in my Titan with it's 8 cargo units, but cargo hauling has been nerfed into the ground. Want to pretend you're an A-10 in space? Rip the nose gimbal off the Titan and slap on a Revenant, the Titan says, "Brrrrrrt!" You can have another person sit on the bed of the Titan for safe transit of a passenger, so you can be a Space Uber driver if you want. Not that I condone criminal activity, but the Titan is perfect for picking up 1 person who was just "released" from prison. I've come out victorious in a 3 Cutties vs 1 Titan(me) PvP battle many, many patches ago. If you downgrade the missile racks on the Titan for size 1 missiles, you can carry a lot of them. The only real limitation on weapon choices is the small capacitor for energy weapons. It is easy enough to fly in atmo that you can spot for mining crews.
Sure, the Nomad has more cargo, the Pisces has a medical variant, and the Mustang is more maneuverable, but here is the thing, the starter ship role is to let you get a taste of the different experiences in SC to find out what you might like, and get an idea of what your next ship should be. Nothing gives you a taste of all the different game loops so far without being overly specialized like the Titan Avenger. It is a perfect jack of all trades without mastering anything, you know other than penguin camouflage.
The Syulen not having a space for small vehicle like a ranger or hoverquad kinda kills it as a starter ship. They still don't have a vision for starting out in this game. Do they plan to have people walking from place to place? What is the planetary exploration gonna be like in the beginning of the game? Do you even need to explore the planet you start on? I mean they give you ships that can leave atmo from the start so is it really necessary? If you have a starter ship that can't store even the smallest vehicle are you expected to walk everywhere?
the 300 have 2 shields and 315p has 12 cargo so you mite want to look at all the ships be for recommend ships to people who do not know
They aren’t exactly stater ships though
so besides it not being a starter it has everything a starter needs kinda feel like its splinting hairs when its comparable man
For the price, Avenger Titan and for a tad more money, Nomad.
If thats your daily driver you will spend awful lot of time coming in and out of ship. Door animation, close for safety, elevator animation, chair animation, system loading animation...
Avenger cockpit entry animation 3 seconds.
Didn't Include the Reliant Kore in the comparison? It's a Starter/Light Freight which also carries 6SCU.
Im all about cargo hauling. You make a ton of profit, it is exciting considering people benefit from attacking haulers now, and personally the syulen is awesome but i want my gotac ship. Thats my daily bread and butter ship there.
Its a whole lot of ship for the price.
I think the Titan is its only competition value wise, I really expected this ship to be $100
Bro I thought it would be at least a cool hundred too
The Syulen is sexy, orignal, and all, but, i can't imagine myself trying to do an emergency (vertical) landing under (turret) fire 😅
Still, i think i'll buy it in game .
It takes some getting used to but it’s not so bad
@@marcuswynn89 yeah! It's very very cool! I'll definitely keep my eyes on it!
I figured out pretty fast some kind of procedure to Land! Dcs pilot experience ! 😉👍🏾
C8R is sold at Area 18 for ~900K.
No 300 series? 315p always slept on
Avenger Titan is still king. Much faster enter / exit. 8 scu and 2x size 3s and 1 size 4 for less money.
The Nomad has 3x size one shields. it's quite an edge
To rule them all? In the largest cross-section and being overpriced, yes, it is the new king of starters. Heh.
The nomad has 3 size 1 shields
890J is best starter.
