Great list! And thanks for mentioning Crystalis! Certainly could use a remake today! Also, I would personally want to see Faxanadu make a return in some way
I am not sure if it is apocryphal but, Sweet Home's game play actually inspired Resident Evil with the name coming from a text box saying "Evil resides here".
Awesome video! I am a SNES kid so I missed out on the NES…but oh my god, they are hard to go back to. I would love to try all of these remade! Especially Mother 1…cause OMG I tried that and I couldn’t handle it LOL
It’s been something I’ve wanted for the past 20 years. I love the classic style of Zelda, but I’ve given up hope on us ever getting another. So remakes might be the only way to scratch that itch.
I really want to see a fleshed out Dragon Warrior. Keep the core gameplay just improve the towns/story and add some side quests to give you something interesting to do while grinding, which should be INCREASED in the remake by the way, because DW was all about fighting until you were strong enough to go confidently into the next area.
Crystalis is my favorite NES Action RPG. I preordered the SNK collection because it was included. I wouldn't mind a remake of Adventure of Link but I don't think I like your idea for changing the leveling system. It sounds like instead of the player determining what stats they rise you want the game to make the decision for them. I'll take a system where the player determines or at least guides stat growth over the game making those choices any day.
I backed Penny Blood and can't wait to see it. Speaking of Horror JRPGs, my team and I are making one and our inspirations are from the PS1 and PS2 eras.
Penny blood apparently is having difficulty finding a publisher which is unfortunate because I was interested in that. And a horror JRPG that’s great, if you release a beta or want it to get some exposure once you have a playable build I wouldn’t mind giving some thoughts and feedback on it!
@@Shinky I haven't checked the updates for Penny Blood, but that I hope that they find a publisher. That Armed Fantasia are games that I can't wait to play. As for our game, thank you so much for that offer and when we have a demo available, I will send you the link.
I _knew_ StarTropics would be in this list. And I would have called you out if it wasn't. LOL It would be kind of a hard one to do a remake for, but I would love to see it done just the same. This is a pretty good list overall though. I actually wasn't aware of a good portion of these games. Would love for the DQ games though, for sure. I really want to play more of those games.
Well this is actually a SNES title which I never played it but, because my partner loves it & just because I had a couple memories posts from 9/10 years ago where I was making the thumbnail for our RUclips channel & I was enjoying listening to its soundtrack whilst drawing the characters, I think Illusion of Time (Gaia for other countries) would be the game that probably deserves a Remake. I too also would like Zelda I & II to be remade. Also the First Fire Emblem game. Yea there’s a DS version but my copy keeps crashing 😂
Excellent list. You're not the sole Crystalis player! I got it when it came out and beat it. Did so again on the Wii virtual console and recently started an emu run. I would play remakes of most of these games.
I'm surprised Hydlide hasn't been remade for modern consoles yet or at least for the Atari VCS or something. Zelda as well inwould love to see being remade in the art style of Links Awakening on the Switch. Great Video, Shinky 👍🏻
Dungeon Magic! I wanted to love that game so much, but the controls and complexity made it inaccessible for me. I think it might've worked better if it were originally top down instead of first person, but now anything is possible!
Good list, and great games; I agree that they all deserve remakes. Most of them are not JRPGs, though, making the title of the vid somewhat confusing. Mother was the only true JRPG on the list that hasn't gotten at least a nominal remake yet.
You are aware the Hydelide Tune you show is a 1:1 copy of the Indiana Jones theme? If that’s the one they used it should be impossible to use it in a remake
@@Shinky actually from what I remember the PC versions were actually pretty good and well loved by the Japanese, especially back in 1984 when it was the first of it’s kind. When it came to North America, however, we already had games like Legend of Zelda and Ys which, along with the nes weaker hardware, made Hydlide feel outdated. Ironic considering those games owes a lot to Hydlide. Pretty much, the PC-6001/8801 are the best versions of the game.
How do you come to the conclusion that a terrible game so bad they made 4 of them and they all suck deserves a remake? Who is buying that shit? Dragon Quest is probably going to get remakes eventually. Out of the entire rest of the list only Zelda 2 and Mother Beginnings I can see a case for.
That’s why it needs a good remake. Hydlide has a nice concept for a story, it’s just the execution of the gameplay that’s not all that great. I’d even accept a soulslike Hydlide
@@NoTengoStand that’s like asking why we keep getting Neptunia games, or SAO games. They don’t sell all that well, but they keep getting made. I’m sure there are some people that absolutely love these games. There’s an audience for anything these days
@@Shinky That's a silly comparison, SAO is an active media brand, with films coming out in the 2020s and weren't they going to make a Netflix Show about it? Neptunia might not be the highest of sellers, but it has been successful enough to make Manga, Anime and a bunch of music CDs.
Great list! And thanks for mentioning Crystalis! Certainly could use a remake today! Also, I would personally want to see Faxanadu make a return in some way
Crystalis is so much fun! SNK needs to take a break from their fighting franchises so Crystalis can get more love
SNK has been talking about bringing back lesser known names and I hope God Slayer/Crystalis is on the list
@@brainofjtd that would be awesome!
I like the way you casually talk about all these games. Just your talking style is pretty cool. GG man.
I’m glad you enjoy it. Thanks for watching =)
@vdogaymer hey man, can you make me a toasted ham & cheese hoagie? 😉
@@FeralInferno HAHA, will def check your channel
I am not sure if it is apocryphal but, Sweet Home's game play actually inspired Resident Evil with the name coming from a text box saying "Evil resides here".
Oh I know that resident evil came from sweet home, but I’d love an actual modern horror game with rpg battles.

Mother 1 is definitely super hard to go back to. I can play the original dragon quest over and over. But mother is just too much
You’re reading my mind! I was just thinking about how sick a Zelda 1 & 2 remake would be!!

That would be a dream! I’d love a full on remake of dragon quest/warrior!
That Willow game honestly looks pretty cool. Great list!
It’s really fun, but I haven’t played it in so long
I'd love to see a Links Awakening style Switch remake of the OG Zelda.
I’d be all for it! Maybe one day

I’m more of a fan of traditional RPG levelling systems. With randomly determined level ups. It could work either way though
I have been saying that for years on Zelda II, a remake with the updated style of Smash Bros. is needed big time.
Maybe one day it can happen =)

Nice list Shinky, I'd totally be down for an OG Zelda remake on the Switch!
Yesssss! It would be wonderful.
Crystalis is in my top 10 list for NES games. Faxanadu is definitely up there as well.

In the world of remakes and remasters there are a ton of games I'd love to see make a return with modern day quality of life enhancements!
Oh absolutely. People complain about remakes and remasters but it’s making old games more tolerable to play these days

ok but real talk would love to see an actual remake of sweet home

It’s definitely a bop of a game
I hope DQ1, 2, and 4 get the 2D HD remake love like DQ3.
For sure. 4 I’m okay with because the DS remake is amazing, though I’d like it to be more available. However, 1 and 2 need remakes like 3 is getting.
Crystalis really needs some love.
Absolutely. You can play it on the SNK 40th anniversary collection and I think Nintendo switch online but that’s about it. It’s more or less forgotten
I'd second this, a remake of all hydelide games
Hydlide is fun but so horribly executed. Every new release takes one step forward and 3 steps back
Fun fact Hydlide originally came out in 1984 for Pc-6001 and PC-8801. Then it was ported to the Famicom in 1986, and finally came to America in 1989.
