- Raymond William Stacy Burr (1917 - 1993) was an American actor, known for his role as Perry Mason in the television series of the same name that lasted from 1957 to 1966. He also participated in many other famous films such as "A Place in the Sun" (1951), "Godzilla" (1954) and "Ironside" (1967 - 1975).
Burr was born in New Westminster, British Columbia, Canada. He began acting at a young age and participated in many stage plays before moving to Hollywood in the 1940s.
With an acting career spanning more than 50 years, Burr has participated in more than 100 films and television shows. He is highly appreciated for his diverse acting ability, being able to portray many different types of roles, from righteous heroic characters to cruel villains.
Burr died in 1993 in Healdsburg, California. He was honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame and was awarded a Lifetime Achievement Award by the American Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences in 1981.
