Hah, that's so true of Gilmour and Waters both. They always dress like they are raking leaves. They both must have a closet full of Hanes black t-shirts.
He taught me how to play the guitar. I’d sit on the floor with my cd play on my left and my amp on the right. I’d listen to 5-10seconds and pause and just try to copy that 5seconds worth. And I did that until I learned to read tab. But at 13 I seen them at the dean dome in chapel hill 86/87. I only went because I was told I could smoke weed. And then was blown away.
I remember being at one of the Pulse concerts (in France) and standing directly under those laser lights. That, with the guitar sounds was just unforgettable.
The Sounds that David Gilmour can get out of a guitar are totally off the chain! Been a huge fan since forever ago (I'm 63) and never get tired of their music. Thank you for exposing the younger generation to this awesome music, Bre. It's helped me through some really dark, depressing times over the years. 🌟💫💛
This song is such a joy to play. I play it at least once a week with my buddies. 5:00 in my favorite part. My neighbors love the screaming “feedback” on the intro.
I'm proud to say I'm 72 and grew up listening to the perfection that is pink Floyd and many other rock bands your right it was a magical time its been a wonderfully enlightening experience that I am still enjoying Floyd are out there there will never be anyone who will come close great reaction again bre you have got great taste rock on girl
I met David Gilmour in 1984 back stage at a concert in Hollywood Calif. He gave me a signed album that I have in my music room. We talked for 22 minutes. I called him…“The Master Of The Stratocaster” He smiled. I asked if I could shake both his hands that make such great guitar solos, he smiled bigger and said “Sure” and shook both hands at the same time, making a cross between us, I smiled HUGE. I asked him to describe his technique of playing guitar, he replied… “I strike a note, bend it, shake it and then release it”…. Yes, he does that quite well, better than any other guitarist I know, and I know all the great ones.
Pink Floyd's Pulse performances of Sorrow, Comfortably Numb, and High Hopes; along with Led Zep's live Celebration Day performance of Kashmir are all Live Perfection. Nobody will ever match these two groups...never.
I'm back for another round of this reaction. Gilmour up their in blue jeans and a faded black t-shirt puttin on a mind-blowing performance! Love the jumpin drummer too.
I have been following Pink Floyd for so long now...so bloody long that I recall a concert with Chuck Berry that went so well, the stage director had to get on the mike and tell people that they had to leave the auditorium in order for Pink Floyd to do their concert that evening...and people just refused to leave ( for quite a while ! ) I can only guess at 1968 or so...I am happy to be old...I got to see so many things !!! LOL !
The man is in his 70s for Pompeii and is as powerful as he was for Pulse. You should do a reaction to his performance any of the songs.from Pompeii. They perform many of the songs from Pulse. Gilmour is a guitar God! He could put out an album of nothing but instrumentals and it would go platinum.
When I was a teenager, the release of a new Floyd album was an EVENT! I remember how, every 2 years, I would wait for my local record shop to open that morning, grab my copy of the new album, take it home and listen to it obsessively until I knew every word and every note. I've seen them live 5 times and, in the words of David Gilmour, "It's not enough, it's not enough! " David recently said he's working on new music so I'm very hopeful there's a new album coming and, if he tours that, I'll sell my house and everything I own to sed him as many times as possible. The man is a God.
I LOVE LOVE to listen to Floyd eyes closed plastered to my recliner in the center of the room and the surround all the way up!! Wish you where here has me nearly balling thinking of my uncle that's no longer here, he was my best friend! Love it!!
Pink Floyd, hits a different spot in the soul. Happy to see you feeling that, many don't. They have a gentle urgency and a peaceful message that buries itself inside you. Thank you for taking the time to do this! I think that you should go around to everyone reacting to Floyd for the first time (or at least in the early stages) and introduce PF this same way, editing as necessary, depending on year/album/concert, of course. We need to see and remember the names of everyone who contributed to this legendary band.
Just so amazing how great music can be when the right musicians get together. Putting out an Album that spent over 900 weeks on the top music chart is a testament to their ability at making music with a ridiculously long shelf life. The solo toward the end of this piece is simply extraordinary and outstanding. Those of us who were lucky enough to witness the combined talents of Pink Floyd in concert will never forget it!
On the turning away and echoes from the ghadansk concert the last time David gilmore played this because his fellow band member and keyboard player Richard Wright died not long after this and David said it would not sound the same without him respect they call that loved your reaction bre to all the many Floyd fans out there this continues to be a wonderful musical journey we are all on
We'll never get another Gilmour tour (at least, I very much doubt we will!), so I am so happy that I got to see him live in 2006, 2015 and 2016. Pompeii 2016 is a superb concert. Sometimes you see aging musicians and think they should have given up years ago. Gilmour shows that he is just as good now as he was 40 years ago (maybe his voice is a little bit more rough now, but it still holds up well).
Agreed I was so blown away by that concert some of his solos and songs are better on that concert than when he was in his so-called prime it's amazing how good he still is well not amazing considering it's David gilmour but still very impressive
i grew up with them, first listen to there music in 1974 .. i think this is what music is all about ... love you for sharing, thank u 💕 p.s. i have some other suggestionss, but only when you want to. Greetings Jan from the Netherlands
Check out Echoes live from Pompeii but pay attention because there are 2 parts so make sure you get them both. It was made in 1971 so you can see them rock out live when they were super young and its an amazing performance....these guys were born talented!
Thanks for reacting to this amazing performance. I was fortunate to see David Gilmour perform this on his solo tour in 2016. He still sounds amazing live! I hope he has one more tour in him; the show four years ago was one of the best concerts I've ever seen!
I luv your reactions. Very nice! Luv that you listen and don’t make the reaction about you but about your joy if the experience. And that is what Floyd is an experience that takes you into the sea of your mind. Enjoy and I’ll be seeing you soon darlin
You should do a reaction to Pink Floyd on the Turning Away another extremely emotional Journey he takes you on. I can't even begin to explain how good the Pulse concert was? So the most emotional music you'll ever hear every aspect of this song was perfect. Absolutely perfect. Have you reacted to the Great Gig in the sky yet?
I'm afraid this was their last tour, 1994. Since then one of them has passed on - keyboardist Richard Wright. Gilmour is in his mid 70's now. Whether he has the appetite to do it one last time, either solo or with Floyd, is a question many Floyd fans are wondering. Certainly this virus thing hasn't helped any.
@@Foreverbre93 I'll have to look that up. I always think along the lines of what you said when I see them now in their later years. David Gilmour is now wearing an old suit, but he was gorgeous. Seeing him shirtless in that ancient empty amphitheatre in Rome was amazing. They were all so beautiful in their prime.
Hey Bre.... goodness, the last time I heard this song was about 11 years ago. I found myself on my porch with a beer and this song/headphones. As you said, it was a fantastic journey. Thanks for the musical reboot in my head. Enjoyed it. Take care and be well. Peace.
Please listen to Dog's of War, The Great Gig in the Sky, pay close attention at about 3min. 42sec. In depending on the recording for the whisper, some other Pink Floyd thumbs ups!
I noticed how the first guitar solo note's goes all the way up, and then it suddenly drops to the bottom, don't know how to explain it, but that's how sorrow works, one day you're all the way up, and then everything changes and you're back to sadness again
I hope that you go through the entire Pulse concert. High Hopes in particular is amazing. Also check out 'On The Turning Away (live Delicate Sound Of Thunder, the 2019 remastered version)'. David Gilmour's 2006 solo concert 'Remember That Night' is also fantastic.
Here's a nice story that I found out recently. The two black back up singers are sisters, apparently. Durga McBroom, (I think on the right), put out her own single. Both Richard Wright (original keyboard player) and Gilmour, one of the best guitarists ever (obviously), both donating their time, talent and inspiration to her single, for free no less. Storm Thorgerson also made her video, also donated. He's been w/ Pink Floyd forever as their artwork designer. The super iconic Dark Side of the Moon album cover was done by Thorgerson.
Very few have reacted to David Gilmour at Royal Albert Hall in 2006 doing "Wot's The Deal." Great song. Another great song, anti-war song, is "In Any Tongue". Do the official video. @4:55 you won't believe the guitar solo.
Talking about their prime- personally, though I love almost all of their music, I think their concert performances were better as they got older. David's voice and guitar skills got better with age. Pulse was prime time... Concert wise anyway. Sorry Roger - everyone's expendable.
