In my opinion, however, he didn't NEED to be in New Edition, and when I first heard he was joining them I was utterly SHOCKED that he would go backwards and join ANY group with his EXTRAORDINARY talent. I went to the Heads of State sound check as a member of the NE FanClub years ago. Bobby and Ralph came down afterwards and sat down with all of us. They talked, signed autographs and took photos for at least an hour. A JG fan asked why he didn’t join us and we were told he doesn’t mingle with fans...EVER. It was shocking but I could see it. **During the sound check (which was technically a free concert for us before the concert later that evening), he was extremely aloof. There was no interaction with Bobby or Ralph. It was the oddest thing. Perhaps he’s totally about business, painfully shy, suffers from anxiety or he’s a total dick.**

Almost too good for his own good. As far as New Edition is concerned, I like them. They're a little before my time so I wasn't able to experience they magic and pandemonium. Johnny Gill elevated New Edition, and New Edition elevated Johnny Gill. After Bobby left, New Edition was about to be a bunch of has-beens, and Johnny was damn near a "never was". The crazy part about NE is that the less talented members have all the power. BBD are the ones who have really held it down over the years. No matter how you look at it, Bobby, Ralph, and Johnny always come back to the group because they couldn't fully make it work solo.

We as fans were all ready-set-cocked to dish out our hard earned dollars to support a tour and new music created by the BET miniseries. It makes me so sad to hear this. I knew who Johnny Gill was before N.E...and when me and my sister heard he was joining the group - we were so excited...and rightfully so. He brought so much to the table. He is an important part of the group to me....and has been for 30+ years.

I went to the Heads of State sound check as a member of the NE FanClub years ago. Bobby and Ralph came down afterwards and sat down with all of us. They talked, signed autographs and took photos for at least an hour.
A JG fan asked why he didn’t join us and we were told he doesn’t mingle with fans...EVER. It was shocking but I could see it.
**During the sound check (which was technically a free concert for us before the concert later that evening), he was extremely aloof. There was no interaction with Bobby or Ralph. It was the oddest thing. Perhaps he’s totally about business, painfully shy, suffers from anxiety or he’s a total dick.**
Maybe he didn't feel up to par or had personal things going on. People expect too much from "celebrities".

Almost too good for his own good. As far as New Edition is concerned, I like them. They're a little before my time so I wasn't able to experience they magic and pandemonium. I fancy *singer singers* so Mr. Gill fits the mold. The other New Edition members had decent lil' rinky-dink voices and they music was fun to bop around to. Johnny Gill elevated New Edition, and New Edition elevated Johnny Gill. After Bobby left, New Edition was about to be a bunch of has-beens, and Johnny was damn near a "never was". The crazy part about NE is that the less talented members have all the power. BBD are the ones who have really held it down over the years. No matter how you look at it, Bobby, Ralph, and Johnny always come back to the group because they couldn't fully make it work solo.
