Hey video, I want the SG but, what type of pickups/electronics can i put on it? I don't like the switching. I want to be able like you say, go the bridge pickup by toggling the switch. and any pickup I need to use. You mentioned about a switching device/toggle to get different sounds? I would like to know more about that. Do you still have the guitar? Did you mod it? Also, how do you like the Gold Top with P90s? Are they cool? Did you do a review on that guitar? Sorry for the many questions. Thank you.
Hello! Thanks for the questions. I DID mod this and will post a video of that shortly. I really like the guitar, but I agree the switching can be a challenge. I was going to update the switch to be more generic (Bridge, middle, neck) but decided to keep the switching for now as stock. The goldtop is REALLY nice and I made it into a classic rock guitar, again, when I get time I'll try to upload that video too!
I finally ordered this guitar after waiting for months....it will arrive in a month. I am looking at replacing the pots, bridge, pickups and adding some locking tuners. I'm going to replace it with chrome, silver etc. Really, you can take this guitar, dress the frets, clean up whatever and gut it out and make it a super SG for what another $150 or less?
I always said a rock guitarist plays for 200 average people, a jazz guitarist plays for 20 wealthy people. the hardware of that guitar is made by Wilkonson and Trevor Wilkinson does not make junk or meh products. Other than that decent review. Surprisingly the pick ups made by a company called Roswell makes pretty good pick ups. they aren't burst buckers for sure but they sound better than the average no name humbuckers.
I bought the same two guitars. I really like the LP (I never play standing) but the SG sounds very dull and dark. I'd be curious to see the improvements you make....
Good review, no bias toward the product, just an honest assessment. Thanks for posting!
Wonderful playing all along the video.
excellent review, the most useful i did find
What do you expect. It is a great guitar and plays extremely well. Good review.
I plan on getting one of these at some point and changing all the hardware to black

I think you will be surprised!
That's NOT a joke! That's a FACT! Nice SGC!
I have the Gibson bought in 1989. My knobs are black with clear only. I'm thinking that I should get one of these.

Fretboard is laurel (Indian rosewood)

Thanks - I felt the SG was dull as well and the pots and switch are pretty junky. I'll put a video up shortly showing the improvements.
how are the tuners
I found the tuners to be very cheap IMO... definitely could use an upgrade there
Nice
If you're going to nitpick the cover plate on a $177 guitar, you have to get some perspective!
Geez at least tune the guitar.
Def Leppard on display? No bro
This guitar is crazy low priced. i'm almost scared to buy it.
3 chord review...
