I like the new simpler design, just retain the friggin STADIUM LOOP, man. That's what makes AW laptops cooler than the others.

I returned the x14 R2 when I saw this was coming out. I don't need a spaceship looking laptop. Another big reason I returned the x14 R2 was you cannot upgrade the Ram on the x14 or x16 BS. This perfect discreet little beast can be upgraded both ssd and RAM.
This was an interesting, well made video and I'm pretty stoked for the new changes. As someone who is thinking about getting a single laptop for work and play that won't have a 4080 in it, a more mobile version of the M16 would be better. While I understand Alienware is going for a more mature look, it'd be cool to see the red finish from years back return.

I think if only they adopted the USB C PD gen 2 (which can go to 240W), they could easily cram an RTX 4080 in that chassis, even with the Intel CPU, which would give the best of all worlds.
Frameworks had already started using the new USB C PD standard, so the tech is already present.
Also, if only Alienware could get over the obsession of “wafer thin gaming laptops” in the 14 inch screen space, it could easily cram higher wattage and keep it cooler. Even Razer has made its latest laptops thicker to ensure better thermals.

Hello guys, since I changed the motherboard of my area 51m r1, it as been slow... I mean extremely slow😢 to a I keep getting "not responding" when ever I'm trying to work on a project in Premiere pro what can I do guysss?😢
It’s an upgrade as it’s smaller… the old one was difficult to travel with in a backpack. Now it can take it anywhere ❤

I really hope that next year, we see the concept UFO, become a reality, hopefully with a 1440p screen, and 120hz refresh rate, the option for an intel core ultra CPU, and I really hope that it has a dock like the Nintendo switch, with eGPU compatibility. That is probably the main thing I want to see from Alienware next year at CES. But this was still impressive, I love the new m16, just the practicality we needed. Also, it would be nice to get a 4K screen as an option on the m18, since it is a massive screen.
When is the next Area 51m coming out? :P Now that was a TRUE laptop.

I have an M16 R2 and plan to add a second SSD. Do I need an SSD with a heat shield? Will it fit properly with a heat shield?
Retaining Raptor Lake refresh, (with an i7-14650HX for example), and keeping the mechanical keyboard option would have been phenomenal.
Can I slow charge this laptop (on the go) using a 100w USB C PD charger? Or is it still a sole preserve of the X series of laptops?

Are there any new screens coming besides the 240hz or any brighter displays?
The current display is the only option for the m16 R2.
Nice improvements! I like Alienware for its logo, name, and being a part of well-established company (Dell). But I think it needs further improvements, specifically following:
1. Add options with RTX 4090, powerful chipset, RAM, UHD display.
2. Remove "16" sign and make outside plain & simple or at least move it to inside with smaller size.
3. Make the design with sharp edges (not curvy), like older Alienware models. Makes it look sharp and powerful.
4. Shift trackpad to center. I understand it's on purpose, but centered position is more universal and cleaner.
5. Add a black color option. Even though dark metallic color looks nice, you lose customers to Razer who prefers black only laptops.
6. I understand it might be technically difficult, but try to minimize the cooling grills on sides.
I'm buying this purely for gaming. Will the core ultra 7 155H bottleneck the rtx4070 gpu in games FPS?
Will there be a AMD processor option like on the previous model?
The m16 R2 will not feature AMD CPU options, but you can still find them on the m16 and m18 R1, which offer AMD Ryzen 7000 Series CPUs and Radeon 7000 Series GPUs.
i bought the r1 previous year and i like it a lot , when will the oled 4k 240 hz monitor released on europe ?
It should be available next month in Europe, but it can vary based on location. Check with the support team for the most up to date information for you area.

It's got an FHD (1920x1080 resolution) built-in camera, with a dual-array microphone and Windows Hello IR Support, along with HDR.

I’m sorry you feel this way. I have an Alienware laptop from 2013 that still runs. I have an Alienware with a 2060 that’s runs fine. I have an Alienware with a 3070 and it runs like a dream
@@Tom-vg5nb I don't think that's their point. Their point is this is a massive downgrade compared to the R1 in every way.
As much as I love Alienware, I do agree. The “thermal shelf” protrusion at the back is a signature identity for Alienware, and stripping it away kind of kills the vibe of Alienware.
@@marty0678I mean I saw a video where they stated most people bought the 4070 and below. So if that's actually true sacrifice the 4080 and 4090 options and save space because you don't need to account for the higher options for cooling systems. Now the only people who know the answers is Dell/Alienware.

Is it possible to upgrade the existing RAM from 16GB to 32GB? And it is also possible to upgrade the Nvidia RTX 4070 graphics card to the Nvidia RTX 4080 model?
RAM upgrade yes, GPU no.
depends on which model are you going to buy - if it's Ultra core then definitely you won't be able to upgrade.

@AlienwareChannel full disclosure, I purchased an M18r1 last year. I love the computer, though I would love it even more with the ability to charge using USB-C PD as another option. The 165hz 1440 IPS display isn't bad by any means, but I would have paid to upgrade to a 500+ nit OLED or mini-LED panel option. I know these are minor gripes, but given where other manufacturers are with some of these features and options, I would like to see Alienware keep pace. I am a fan! 😉

This laptop is a step backwards in almost every way, aside from size compared to the R1. I think this is a huge misstep from Alienware, if I wanted a thin and light, medi-core gaming laptop, you already offer the x14 and x16. I don't believe this was based on customer feedback, unless the customer feedback was wanting a cheaper x16. This laptop can be thinner becuase you are using a much worse CPU and GPU, so it's not going to give out as much heat.

Please Could You Launch Low cost Gaming Laptops In India
Indian markets are never in their Tier 1. It's USA and Europe. Of course they will continue to be very expensive as they have been. Most of the consumers in India want to get the same configuration at as much low as they can and for tis very reason they prefer switching to other brands like Lenovo, ASUS, HP, Acer or custom built PCs

lets see side by side r1/r2 in same room run Cinebench and cdpr for 1 hour max settings and plz stop recycling the X51 power bricks in these laptops
I believe most people feel the cooling and performance is less?.
Unfortunately, from my point of view the rear looks like it was designed in a hurry for ces 2024, n looks awful from rear . I will still prefer the thermal shelf design as it gives a proper heft and character to alienware devices. To be very specific this design of m16 r2 seems like it's is suffering from polio disease.
It usually takes us about 18 to build and design new products. The new thermal design is all to help push heat more efficiently away from the keyboard and out of the system to make those longer sessions even easier.

Another laptop with no number pad...fail. Guess I will stick with Lenovo.

Soo you telling me the best overall laptop was downgrade, pls tell me how this make sense? You do know x16 couldve taken the place for m16 r2 and make the m16 r2 BETTER from last year.
I am sure you know where am taking this is going. So people who like the performance and price of the m16 is gone and now they have spend more money to get basically get the same specs (other then cpu being better), which leads me to believe you guys want more money from us. Isnt that just perfect aye?
The new m16 R2 is designed to accomplish a ton of tasks in a variety of situations, while delivering great cooling and performance.
Given the specs you mentioned, you can still check out the m16 R1. But more config options for RAM (up to 64GB), Storage (up to 8TB), and CPUs (up Intel Core Ultra 9) for the m16 R2 will be coming shortly.
@@AlienwareChannel The Ultra 9 is a huge step down for performance from the i9 14th gens. The R1 had the same storage and RAM options, with i9s, plus 4090s. Now, if we want an i9 with a 4090, our only option is the m18 which is just too massive for a lot of people.

The Price to RGB ratio is very low for this laptop. It's not a gaming laptop anymore 😂 as Less RGB means less powerful. This laptop is a downgrade for sure.

The person who designed this should be transferred from Alienware to Dell. The m16 R2 is a downgrade compared to m16 R1.

Guys ,anyone who would buy a new laptop , avoid these scammers , i bought an Alienware m15 r6 it was just another shitbox created by Alienware, can you imagine buying a laptop that cost 1500$ in my country and in 2 months it won’t work because of some problems in ram , even when i fixed it, you can’t imagine the amount of problems that this trash have ,especially the blue screens (sorry for the bad english , im not used to talk with it) .This is my advice for anyone who s reading this message , avoid Alienware and dell , it s just a waste of money
you are somewhat right. Now there are many other brands who are delivering same or better quality laptops at much lower price and customer satisfaction is also great. I bought Alienware m14x in 2013 in used condition for 750 USD, Alienware 17R2 again in used condition in 2018 for 1000 USD and now both of these laptops aren't working. m14x have failed battery and SSD whereas 17R2 has failed battery and damaged RAM. I consider buying both of these in used condition and till today I am convinced on not to buy them in new condition to burn money.
Maybe by the M16R7 the design will get exciting/interesting again. These are insultingly bland and boring, which amplifies its over-priced-ness, and I'd go so far as to say these designs are antithesis of everything that makes Alienware tolerable nowadays.
Whoever designed this should probably go back to Asus and resume sweating over Chromebooks for schoolchildren.
Actually the main reason i bought this was i wanted a laptop for school that i could do light gaming on. This is one of the very few laptops that doesnt look like it was designed for fortnite kids but still have the gpu and processing power needed for light gaming and creator applications. I love it so far
@@menace2society00me too. Exactly the same- school, work and gaming for me. I love the new design. I did not like the thermal shelf’s look at all. Love the more classic form factor. Plus, can’t even see the old stadium lighting when you’re using the laptop, so that was silly to me. Like the RGB ring around the touch pad that can be turned off in stealth mode. Can’t wait for mine to come in the mail!
Just be honest, this design was cost saving move. It does not have any Alienware 👽 vibe.
