- With engine warm. Break off end of plug. Pull off "nut". Break off remaining inner diode by twisting back and forth. Insert extractor and gently apply pressure until plug comes free. No guarantees.
I was crapping my pants watching that extractor torque up. That was suspenseful.
Fuck me....when the injector "cracked" my heart dropped a mile until I saw it move 😅

Just did all of my glowplugs today in my lb7 with 300k that’s seen every winter of salt since new.. I used the impact hammer adapter with the 3/8 drive made for these and it worked great, no way I would have been able to do it without it.

@@richardcabitto5108 you might have done them but if you look up 3/8 air hammer adapter it will show up. Just a basic 3/8 socket that goes on your air hammer put a wrench on it and it will vibrate out

I was in suspense waiting for the extractor to break. Then its game over. I have had to remove broken taps using a Dremel and tungsten tip grinder. Pain in the butt. Good job though!!!
My extractor broke on my BMW E39 530d glowplug, I will try to weld a nut on it and extract it that way, if that wont work I will go the die grinder route... It sure will be a pain in the butt.
Th e worst nightmare of a mechanic bloody rust gives me the shivers when a extracted breaks shit know what do I do leave till tomorrow and have a beer
PB Blaster or liquid wrench would work on the glow plugs and glow plug boots, making them easier to remove.
When extracting glow plugs on a duramax. Use a 3/8 impact and NO MATTER WHAT, DO NOT GO BACK IN!! Use the impact in reverse direction only! Never had one break off. As you can see by the fuel lines and exhaust flange. He is working on #8 cylinder. The pain in the ass one, by location.
Napa has the square ease outs. They are the best ones.

I see an awful lot of rust belt corrosion on that truck, hopefully my California Cream Puff won't have any issues like that!

Driver side rear plug by firewall. Elitexion screw extractor I got on Amazon. I tried to change them all last fall and 2 of them broke. I probably soaked them biweekly ever since then. Had engine warm prior to extraction. It could not have gone any better.

I would say 10 months but I did not plan on putting it off so long. I wouldn't think it would take that much time soaking. Especially if you are driving it daily.
