Okay I just have to tell you a story I was such a awful kid 🤣🤣🤣 I hated cutting okra when I was young. Mama would send me out to cut it and I would get stung by the stalk, so I would cut the hardest ones and tell her it wasn't any good so I could quit 😔. When she would go check it. Later in the afternoon I would get into trouble by her😔 so I finally showed daddy how broke out I got from trying to cut it and he told mama to look at my arms she had a fit!!! She had never seen anyone brake out like that before. So from then on her and daddy cut the okra and I picked almost everything else I could. But yes I took many a hickery switch from my lies from not cutting okra🤣🤣🤣
I have fair skin & cant wear wool & polyester. Picking okra never bothered me. But corn leaves cut my arms to pieces! So I had to wear a long-sleeved shirt to protect my arms.
When I was in my mid years I started a garden. The okra stalks got so tall it was hard to pick & I got the okra itch from picking. When I told my dad about it he told me when he grew okra & it got about hip high he would cut it back some. This would result in the okra growing bushy instead of so tall. If you decide to try this I'd do it on 1 or 2 to see if you like it.
I love old clocks have one reminds me of my child hood. I told my mother several years ago, I was worried about my memory, she said don't, you've had a bad memory your whole life. She was right
My mom and dad had one of those beautiful German chime clocks. Had to be careful to not wind it too tight. Funny when you live with it, you get to where you sleep right thru the chimes but when we had company, they would complain about being awake during the night with the noise! LOL we all love your chimes!❤ music in Oklahoma!
Not much of an Okra fan, but we can learn to eat a lot of things if we need too. I have a clock my husband bought me when we first married. Needed it repaired, the guy had it I guess 5 or 6 years. When he retired he fixed it and brought it to me. I was so glad. That clock is over 50 years old and still running.
Your clock remind me of church bells. Home is a sacred place. My grandparents had coo coo clocks. Somehow it's so comforting. I've never grown okra but I got seeds so next year. Thanks for the great lesson. You're the best. I love how you reuse you bags not cheap just really smart!

I fixed fried okra tonight for dinner. Freshly picked yesterday at a local farm. I always use an iron skillet to fry my okra. Nothing better on a summer night than fried okra and fresh sliced tomatoes.
Was in Hardy and Batesville last week-end. Bought a lot of okra at a stand in Ash Flat. Came home to Independence. Fixed a pot of navy beans - lay the okra on top, steam it, salt and pepper it then slurp it down. I’m like Mr. Brown, love it slimy.

I love every one of your cooking videos and am inspired by many but I have to say, that I will never fix okra. It isn't a vegetable I grew up eating. I did try it twice, once in a gumbo. I loved Old Alabama Gardener! I only found him shortly before his passing but really enjoy and have learned a lot from his videos. He tickles me at the end of each video where he always says, "I wish you were here to taste this with me." RIP I believe his videos are all still up and I think (don't hold me to this lol) that his widow said she was going to leave his videos up for everyone to enjoy.
I enjoyed watching you cut up the okra for the freezer. OAG taught me how to can okra, too. I really enjoy fried okra and okra in gumbo. Another friend told me that a splash of white vinegar in gumbo will cut the slime from okra. It works. Thank you for another great video.

My grandmother always said always harvest the okra in the early morning before it can get hard
oh, I love red okra. That is what my parents raised. I freeze mine just like you and my mom did. On a gallon bag.
Hello 👋 how are you doing today??
Way to go Mr Brown love that slimy okra in my fresh peas.

I was just talking to my granddaughter about freezing okra. This will help thank you
I enjoyed watching you cut up the okra for the freezer. OAG taught me how to can okra, too. I really enjoy fried okra and okra in gumbo. Another friend told me that a splash of white vinegar in gumbo will cut the slime from okra. It works. Thank you for another great video.

I love okra anyway you cook it!

Alabama Garden was a treasure.
I love okra also. I let the pods dry on the plant for seeds. I plant cow horn and have plans to plant the spineless next year.
I love peas and boil okra with corn bread. Born a country girl and will die a country girl.
Okra is my favorite vegetable to eat
I always freeze ( vacuum seal) okra and yellow squash together and then add the potatoes when I get ready to fry :):). YUM!!!!
