There's also a need to restore Amtrak service from New Orleans to Jacksonville Florida.

No, there isn't. New Orleans is still a small town, not enough traffic to Florida.

@@tonyburzio4107 - The Amtrak Sunset Limited went to Jacksonville (Los Angeles to New Orleans to Jacksonville) until CSX stopped allowing Amtrak on that route due to damage by Hurricane Katrina.

@tonyburzio4107 service to Jacksonville would connect Amtrak's southern lines with its east coast lines, in addition to connecting communities that were once served by the Sunset Limited

We're only going to to Mobile? We need to restore service all the way across the gulf so the trains can run CA to FL again. It's been 20 years! :/

This is great but we need service to Jacksonville, Atlanta and Los Angeles (and Orlando).

New orleans currently has direct train service to los angeles through houston, san antonio, el paso, tuscon, etc on the sunset limited (which is planned to return to being a daily rail service). Taking the crescent from new orleans takes you through atlanta, charlotte dc, new york city, and more. The City of New Orleans train takes you through jacksonville, memphis, and more before ending in chicago.
There should absolutely be more, but two out of these three do exist.

We need a lot more passenger rail, this is a good first step!

They need to start work on adding more trackage. Let the cities fund some sidings and extensions to keep freight and passenger trains on time

Glad to see this is finally coming. I've never quite understood what the problem was that caused old service to stop, since CSX had repaired the tracks for freight within a few months after Katrina. Hopefully there will be trains running beyond Mobile to Florida again before long

No chance in heck to Florida. Very likely in two years this will stop too.

CSX had to be forced to allow Amtrak in court

@@NewYorkRecordingsNYC sure did and got city of Mobile stuck with millions in cost too. For what 2 trains a day? Quicker to drive to Mississippi or Louisiana. Notice they’re not telling you the prices too.

Class 1 railroads finally letting the grasp go. Should nationalize them and be done with it.

thats good news now they need to connect it to Atlanta so these Superliner cars can connect to the Meteor and the Silver Star and Amtrak's Autotrain service who is having a coach shortage because all the superliner 3s are on Autotrain instead of in Chicago.

My guess is you mean Jacksonville, FL. Because the Silver Service does not serve Atlanta, GA.
As for the Auto Train, that is a non-stop service from Sanford, FL (21 miles North of Orlando) to Lorton, VA (16 miles Southwest of Washington, DC) So you'll need to travel to Orlando, FL first and then somehow get to Amtrak Auto Train station in Sanford, probably by SunRail. Because the regular Silver Service doesn't serve Sanford itself. The nearest Amtrak stations to Sanford are DeLand and Winter Park.
