Heavy the head that wears the crown. Sokka is a bit rough in these first few episodes, but he's been left alone to run the village, and protect it, and he takes that responsibility very seriously. And he's only 15! But whatever else we might say about Sokka, no one can deny his bravery. He's hopelessly outmatched by the fire nation, but we see him stand his ground and do whatever he can to protect his people. And he's ultimately able to change his mind when he encounters new information. He's willing to learn. When Aang sacrifices himself, Sokka's sense of loyalty kicks in and he recognizes that Aang is a friend and ally to his people, not the enemy he first suspected. And so Sokka bravely goes off with his sister to help free Aang and protect them on their journey to the North Pole. There are lots of great characters in this show, but Sokka is one of the best.
I really love how goofy and skeptical Sokka is, he's the only man in the entire tribe, which was not the same in the LA if I remember correctly, so the animation puts everything under a different perspective. And yes, you're totally spot on, trying to defend everyone against the fire nation on his own?? He is definitely super brave. I can see already how his caracther is going to grow, which is something they missed in the LA. Such a pity.
7:10 One of the most important moments of the first season and people don't talk about it enough. The hero Aang obviously is willing to sacrifice himself for the safety of the village, but Zuko could have gone back on his promise and destroyed the village but he Didn't. He only uses violence when he thinks it's necessary.
When Sokka confronted Katara about leaving her family for a boy she had just met a few hours earlier, it wasn’t blackmail. He wasn’t trying to manipulate her; he simply wanted her to pause and consider the weight of her decision. Honestly, his reaction makes a lot of sense. This is a REAL WAR, and they can’t afford to be reckless or distracted. As we saw, Fire Nation ships were already dangerously close to their home, highlighting the constant threat they lived under. As for Aang, the reason he doesn’t seem to attack Zuko or his other "enemies" is rooted in his upbringing. As an Airbender, Aang was raised in the peaceful and spiritual traditions of the Air Nomads. Their culture emphasizes non-violence, harmony, and avoiding conflict whenever possible. This philosophy shapes Aang’s approach to combat-he focuses on defense and evasion rather than aggression or harm. Over time, you’ll notice that each nation has its own distinct culture, deeply influencing how its people act and view the world. It’s one of the things that makes the world of Avatar so rich and compelling. Loved this reaction you've gained a new subscriber❤
Thank you for your lovely comment! I guess we're just starting to know the Avatar world better. I feel the LA just touched on the mere surface and didn't explore each individual personality or nation in too many details. I am very happy we decided to take on this journey, can't wait to know more about all of them!!! It seems it's not just about Aang's journey, but also all his close friends and enemies too ❤️
So what do you think about the differences in the character personalities? I think the characters are more expressive in the animated series than the Live action.
Hey! There's no comparison between the 2. In the animation you can see how different and well defined all the personalities are, I am super impressed by how Sokka is depicted in the animation, I can already see how he is going to change and grow from the beginning to the end of the Season 3. Same for Katara, how maternal and protective she is towards Aang (we have watched 3 episodes so far). You can actually see their personality growing already with the first 3 episodes in the animation. In the LA, after 9 episodes, the only person where you see some growth is Zuko, as you can sense how torn he is between what he wants for himself and having to make his father happy. I believe at some stage we will see more of Aang, where he'll probably come to terms with being the Avatar and understanding what this means and how to unlock his power. Maybe on the second/third season? Everybody else seem on the same kind of flat line.....
@@MovieMagicReacts Oh, you had it right, you just weren't sure which one was correct, so I was letting you know. A lot of people struggle with Sokka's name due to the spelling, and phonetic rules in other languages. You're fine! :)

BTW, I read your comment on the phone first and as I was trying to get rid of what I thought a piece of hair, I realised it was your pfp 😂
@@MovieMagicReacts Yeah, that's the point of the profile picture-it's a silly prank! But I get weekly replies from people telling me I fooled them. 😂
😂 well played, well played
hahahaha i forgot about Sokka's face paint.
