This is the game where my maternal uncle and great uncle convinced my dad to allow me to play football for my senior year in high school. I’ve been wanting to play since 6th grade in which I was denied. We were at home watching the game when he called me over to the table where they were seating and shared the good exciting news. He passed away 5 years ago this month. RIP pops. #finsup
Normally, the Dolphins wear colored jerseys in night home games This is a rare instance of wearing white in such a game (they also did so against Buffalo that same season) Usually, wearing white in a night home game is because the game was planned for a Sunday afternoon (like the 1997 Bears game)
quarterback 's have to master so many things to succeed, but there has never been anyone better at throwing a football than Dan. He's like the Roger Clemons of football.I say Clemons and not Nolan Ryan because Ryan was more cerebral Clemons was more attack like Danny.
There have been quite a few who throw the ball better...it was his release and guts that made him so good. Bradshaw, Bartkowski, Brady, Rogers, Favre, Goff all are more accurate all over the field.
RB was WIDE OPEN to the right, no lb was even covering him was a busted coverage and marino doesn't even look that way .. a shame cause they make the playoffs if they win this game. sneak in at 9-7
But then they wouldn't have been able to get some of the key players they had because they would be drafting lower. They defintely wouldn't have been able to get Rod Woodson in 1987.
@@rivercap1986 I hope you're right. I'm a Steelers fan too and yes I agree passing on Dan Marino was a huge mistake. I just worry that Woodson wouldn't have lasted to the second half of the first round of 1987 draft. He had a fairly impressive combine performance so there was probably several other interested teams. I doubt Steelers would have been as successful as they were in the 1990s without Woodson.
One wierd note about this game. This was the only time in the Dolphins history that thay played a prime time game, whether it be monday, sunday or some other night game, that they wore white jersey's at home. I don't know the reason they wore white, breaking the long time tradition of wearing aqua at home. If anybody knows the reason let me know? Obviously it didn't last long, because any time after this game they continued with their tradition.
@@ABASPORT13 wow, that's interesting that coach johnson would make them do that, but i believe it. At first glance, while watching the game, i thought that one team may have had a jersey stolen, so they had to change things. I say this because i've seen it happen in other sports. Good old jimmy johnson wanted to change things, well i'm glad they went back to the aqua.
After writing my bit of information a couple of months ago, I realized I forgot something else. While coach Johnson was in Miami coaching the hurricanes, something happened that may have influenced his reason for getting rid of the Aqua jersey's at home, during prime time games. One Saturday night, some of his players, approached him about wearing all orange for their home game that night. It seems he wasn't against this, so he gave it the go ahead. Later on, coach Johnson regretted it. The team played horrible, lost the game, and that was extremely unusual because the Hurricanes were dominate at home during his time. One last thing he said that they "looked like a bunch of pumkins running out onto the field" and vowed never to do it again. I don't know it this played a part in his reasoning to ditch the aqua uniforms, but it may have??
@@ABASPORT13 the reason white was worn against the Bears was because it was supposed be on Sunday afternoon, but the World Series prevented that The Dolphins wore their aqua jerseys against Detroit and New England in 1997
First NFL game I ever attended.
Jimmy Johnson and Bill Cowher first meeting ever, and class of 2020 Hall of Fame inductees
Yeah that's super cool But I think they might have played each other in 92?
No, Steelers and Cowboys haven't played each other in 1992.

1996 was the last season each of these teams wore this style jersey.
Dan should have been a steeler but they passed on him. DAAAAAMMMMM!!!!!!
Miami Dolphins on Monday Night!

Steelers should've drafted Marino

But we really don't know when Woodson would've been taken plus he was the only 1st rounder that did anything
Lake and lloyd were other rounders

I came to ask the same question. Did they wear white the whole season?
Jimmy Johnson was the reason Miami wear white in MNF vs Steelers and Bills in 96 And vs Bears 97
