@jessem8690 has nothing to do with tube size. There standard size across the board, what ever the engineers said to use is what's used in USA and Japan ect. Your just putting your opinion out there. By the way it's your wrong. Ask me how I kno?
I've owned 2 cars with sunroofs- even though they never leaked i never really used them except for once or twice in summer for the sole purpose of venting heat. 3rd car doesn't have it never noticed it's missing lol.
2012 Civic 2.4L 2dr cpe manual 6 spd 151,000 mi no oil burn (OEM Honda filter and Walmart 0w-20 every 5000 mi). Changed Honda OEM manual trans fluid at 100,000. New Denso Iridium at 100,000. Timing chain no belt. Runs like a clock. Swapped weak stock front rotors to slotted cross drilled at 50,000 mi still at 90%. Even A/C still ice cold. Sun roof no leaks. Marvelous car.
Iracnosal, I was looking for that same model and specs in a 2013 (I’m guessing it’s an SI), but they’re hard to find. Or if you do find one, they’re going for a premium price…even if it’s got 100K miles.
I bought a new 2009 Accord EX with the 2.4. In the warranty period I noticed it was using a quart every thousand miles. The dealer topped it off 3 times and had me bring it back each time where they confirmed the oil usage. They had the car for 3 days and I think they replaced the rings and maybe valve guides and it never used oil again until I sold it at 190,000 miles. If you buy a 2.4 have the dealer run the vin and see if this service was completed. If not, it's going to use oil.
Thanks for idea about checking w Honda dealer to run VIN & see if the 2.4L engine ever had rings & valve guides replaced to solve the 1qt/1000 miles oil burning issue.
Those probably have the geared first gear for take off. Honda has pretty much perfected them now, but they will never be as fast or as tough as regular trannies. For smaller cars though they are good.
There's no point blaming the manufacturers for dropping the bigger non-turbo engines, it's down to pressure from the various governments to continually reduce emissions.
Just sold my 2014 Toyota Tacoma that I bought for myself Christmas 2015. It had 21000 miles and I put 23000 over 9 years. I sold it for more than I paid for it. That was a good thing since I needed the money.
My first car was a 2003 Honda accord with the 2.4L k24 A engine. I didnt know much about car maintenence so i didnt really take care of it to be honest, i kept it till it had about 340k miles and everything on the car was falling apart but the engine and transmission were still working perfectly
I have 2 Accord Exl coupe with the 2.4 l..2010 with 470,000kms and 2014 with 130,000kms. These are the best cars ever made. Handle great with nice interiors.
I have that same 9th Generation Honda Accord V6, brought new and now clocking 387k miles on it. Only replaced the Tranny belt six times and basic maintenance. That V6 is indestructible, if you see one of these 9th Gens especially with the V6 buy it immediately, you won't regret it..
I HAVE A 2012 FORD FUSION SE WITH OVER 200,000+ MILES AND 30-33 MPG. IT HAS A BULLETT PROOF NON TURBO FORD/MAZDA 2.5L ENGINE. BURNS NO OIL. RELIGIOUSLY CHANGED EVERY 5,000 MILES AS PER SCOTTY. NO RUST IT IS A SOUTHERN CAR. REGULAR MAINTENANCE. PURCHASED NEW. STILL DRIVING. FINIS PAX
A friend of mine had a 2008 2-door Honda Accord Coupe with the 2.4 L 4-cylinder engine and it had the oil consumption problem. I know it was a lot more common in the V6 engine, but there was no doubt that the oil was going somewhere because the warning light would come on and there were no leaks. She's be nearly two quarts low by the time for the next oil change. The engine also made that dragging / grinding noise on start up. Her plugs weren't getting fouled up enough to cause problems, but I knew that the engine was slowly destroying the catalytic converter. Thankfully, she got rid of the car for something else, and was still able to get a decent trade in for it.
My Honda Fit came with a 151R battery, but there was enough room to replace it with a 51R battery. They are both the same height and width. The 51R is about two inches longer. 151R 340 CCA 51R 500 CCA
I will ONLY buy Honda products. Parents had an 03 accord v6 300k miles, took an accident to make it stop running, burned no oil. Dad owns an 09 accord v6 now with 160k miles, runs super smoothe no oil burning. I myself drive an 07 Acura MDX with 208k miles, runs like a champ, no oil burning. I’m never buying any car made after 2018.
I will find a way to fit one of $59 Rural King standard size batteries safely in my vehicles that take the odd ball expensive ones. Those $59 RK batteries always last me 5 to 7 years, its the only ones i buy.
I love Honda, i got a 2010 max trim crosstour @100,000 miles for dirt cheap. 6500$ for an amazing condition Honda with all of the 40,60, and 100 thousand mile maintenance pre done. Honda's are cheap when used, and last ages.
Scotty is right. I watch a honda technician on RUclips. He receives over 30 honda 1.5t engines with blown head gaskets a month. And none ever makes it past 130,000 miles
Hey Scotty, We have one of those 9-gen Accrods with 205,000+ Kms, and works like clock, No sunroof leak either, LOL, It still has the original Honda battery in it and it starts right up, in minus -30C cold, up north. I see these on marketplace for sale, Some have over 400k miles on them and still driving well, given the fact it was maintained and not abused. Same applies for the 2012 / 2013 and 2014 Toyota Camry. If you can find one with no rust and decent mileage, You are in luck. More so than getting a new domestic or Korean car.
I have a old POS 328xi it only had 92k miles but the engine was the only thing that was good, I just sold it for a 2001 ranger. 100k miles garage kept and looks less than 2 years old. I couldn't be happier.
2018 honda CRV with the 1.5L turbo...still have the original battery....and chugging along nice. no oil dilution...honda fix to the PCM / air control module seems to have resolved that issue.
Have a 2019 crv 1.5 w over 170k mostly hwy miles w bumper to bumper traffic reg oil changes and cvt fluid changes everything is original besides that and coolant change and spark plugs looked new at 100k
When you tune a 2020 si boosting 26lbs. Yeah. I had 40k on it sold it and bought a 22 duramax. Those Hondas with the 1.5 can’t handle power. Clutch was fine for some reason. Either don’t tune it and drive it or tune something else. lol
Hi Scotty! Really enjoy your videos! So much good information! PS. Don't know if you've ever done this, but could you make a list of the scanner make and models that you use for diagnosing? Would really appreciate looking into those. Thanks, Scotty!
Have one like this 2013 with 2.4 liter engine except mine is 6 speed manual and can get up to 38 mpg on hwy.150k on it and 0 issues plus manual is faster then thoce cvt transmission on Honda accord
My sons 2009 with 2.4 burned a quart every 1000 miles.. It's a shame to because the rest of the car was perfect and all original at 180k miles when he got rid of it.
This 4-cyl Honda Accord is bullet proof. The last great Accord, looks good, reliable, smooth (the CVT is pretty good) and great handling. They don't make them like this anymore (for 30k no less).
@scottyKilmer hello sir, I have a brand new chevrolet captiva 2025 with 30k odometer. I drive it for two hours, when I got home, just before I switch off the engine I open the hood and pull out the dipstick. In my surprise a thick smoke came out. I send it to the service center but they said it was normal for new car. Is that true that it is normal sir?
That is what sucks about new vehicles. They all come with smaller engines then stuff turbo's in them to make enough power. They don't care they don't last. Even full size trucks are now getting 4 bangers and turboing the heck out of them
I have a question when I was driving my car. The car just shuts down on me, all the lights coming on and another light comes it said transmission faulty service do you know what is going on with my car.
Have the battery load tested. When the battery starts going bad, it can mess up the car's computer system. All the lights will come on and the car might stop running. These new cars are much more sensitive to voltage surges than the old ones.
17 Accord burn oil 🛢️🛢️🛢️ This engine are bad bad Dont ask for transmision...Cvt 😢😢😢 I am always here some noise when accelerating. One day she will left me strangled somewhere.... I forget to mansion change starter ....
Feel bad for the mechanics in the USA, in New Zealand we get a hourly rate weather your working on a vehicle or not, no wonder the service is terrible don't blame them.
Imo, you want the 2016 (10th gen "apology" model) or later. Honda let the Civic's quality slip for a while up to then, so the 10th gen was their way of saying "sorry 'bout that". :)
We have and bought new ,a v6 exl honda accord , nice car highway milage 32 to 36 mpg in town 26 to 28 ..nice car the driver seat is a little uncomfortable on long trips ,and the sun roof does not leak .
@@EthelMaeHenderson no. You were called out so you're changing your story. 64,000 miles isn't impressive at all and there was no need to say "all original parts" with such low mileage.
Honda oddesy is great and best car for family 🎊 🎈🎉 I wish there’s is hybrid engine type I’m mechanical engineer American cars is easy to fix Honda is expensive has spare parts 😮

Problem with a catalytic converter? Gut it or remove it is how I deal with that.
Test pipe
No emissions testing for NC once the car is 20 years old. Thank goodness.
That engine has a timing chain too!
I have a old POS 328xi it only had 92k miles but the engine was the only thing that was good, I just sold it for a 2001 ranger. 100k miles garage kept and looks less than 2 years old. I couldn't be happier.
MPG is never on my mind. I have never even checked it on any vehicle I have or had. Keep up with regular maintenance and go is how I see it.
Great Point about Not Putting Gas ⛽ Mileage as Top Priority.
@@davey5586 Yes, worrying about MPG is an example of what my Mum used to call being "penny wise but pound* foolish" *English cents and dollars
No need to fuss over it but doesn't hurt to check once in a while. An abnormal drop may mean something needs addressed.
@@AmandaHugenkiss2915 Other signs will show themselves also that something is amiss.
I put a bigger battery in my crv 2016 and it made a big differences
Sunroofs don't always leak. My Avalon is 26 years old with 260,000 + with a working sunroof with no leaks.
2018 honda CRV with the 1.5L turbo...still have the original battery....and chugging along nice. no oil dilution...honda fix to the PCM / air control module seems to have resolved that issue.
'chugging along' 😬
I got the 2014 Honda accord 2.4L. 200k miles on it. Cheap maintenance will save you Money and keep your car.
Wheel bearings bad wait for the wheel to fall off.😮
Those wheel bearings are some of the loudest I've heard. When and if they are that loud it leaves no doubt.
What the best car to do taxi business????? Ford 350 passenger??? Or Astro van 2005 or wich new ones ??
Had 2010 ford fusion sold at 287000. Never any troube. Regular maintenance.
Great video
Scotty your information is always appreciated 😊
I have had 4 Hondas and the sunroof didn’t leak
Stop it Scotty
love my 2015 Accord Coupe 6 speed.
My sons 2009 with 2.4 burned a quart every 1000 miles.. It's a shame to because the rest of the car was perfect and all original at 180k miles when he got rid of it.
I got a 23 hybrid accord about 2 months ago good cars and great mpg
I hade a 2011 with 185 KS on it
Thank you Scotty! ❤
still direct injection only engine.. Have to go 2011 to get a non direct injection engine..
So Hondas 2011 & earlier for avoiding direct injection engine... thx
Love the videos especially the laughing animals ! They always crack me up ! 😂
That battery is smaller then in my Toyota Corolla which has a regular-size battery. The original battery lasted 6 years
I love the kookaburra reference for the bird poop.😂
Techs at dealers work "job hours" - if not repairing, j sitting, not getting paid - quality going down. Unless flat rate.
Thoughts on the 1.5 civic? Are all 1.5s bad?
Would you please do a video about cars connectivity to the internet and the possible risk of hacking?
I daily drive a 5-speed manual
My 2015 accord 2.4 gets over 40 mpg on the highway..32 seems low..i cruise at 70
This 4-cyl Honda Accord is bullet proof. The last great Accord, looks good, reliable, smooth (the CVT is pretty good) and great handling. They don't make them like this anymore (for 30k no less).
lady was telling me new cadlleck wrong front brecks from facttoy took it back fix it right
Thanks you 😊
@scottyKilmer hello sir, I have a brand new chevrolet captiva 2025 with 30k odometer.
I drive it for two hours, when I got home, just before I switch off the engine I open the hood and pull out the dipstick. In my surprise a thick smoke came out. I send it to the service center but they said it was normal for new car. Is that true that it is normal sir?
I have that one! Great car!!!
That is what sucks about new vehicles. They all come with smaller engines then stuff turbo's in them to make enough power. They don't care they don't last. Even full size trucks are now getting 4 bangers and turboing the heck out of them
And making them more expensive
Gabbage my old Toyota has 385k new gabbage will not get 200k.
17 Accord burn oil 🛢️🛢️🛢️

Feel bad for the mechanics in the USA, in New Zealand we get a hourly rate weather your working on a vehicle or not, no wonder the service is terrible don't blame them.
Every worker gets shafted in the United States so that people who don’t do actual work can have billions 😭
140k miles on my 2016 Accord. Not a single issue to report EXCEPT that teenie weenie widdwe battery
Wish the used larger batteries.
Check engine light is on.
My 2013 Chevy has 210k miles and doesn’t burn a drop of oil.
Im currently driving around in a 97 Buick regal LS it's all I could afford
What year are these non turbo Hondas?
Why is the engine light on steady? Sounds and drives okay?
Evap leak.
07 accord coupe 2.4 keeping forever
a quart low is nothing? my honda fit with 214k 5 speed burns 0️⃣
Scotty, is a 2013 honda civic good?
Imo, you want the 2016 (10th gen "apology" model) or later. Honda let the Civic's quality slip for a while up to then, so the 10th gen was their way of saying "sorry 'bout that". :)
@liamtaylor4955 i own a 2013 honda civic I bought with 110,000 miles.
I am 60 years old and no nothing about cars
I got a 2010 crv and the sunroof leaks
It's got more problems than my 04 Frontier with the same mileage.
We have and bought new ,a v6 exl honda accord , nice car highway milage 32 to 36 mpg in town 26 to 28 ..nice car the driver seat is a little uncomfortable on long trips ,and the sun roof does not leak .
I'm glad to see you mentioned the uncomfortable seats. Nobody wants to bring that subject up.
I got my Honda for nothin’….And the Chicks for Free
My 06 2.0L cobalt has 300,000 miles.
I have a 17 model with 120k miles.
I have a 2016 Kia Sorento with the 3.3 liter V6. So far it has 640,000 miles. All original parts.
That's not realistic even for a Toyota.

You do not have over 1 million kilometres on your Kia. And Definitely not within 9 years or less.
Edit - sorry - type. I means 64,000 miles. Sorry.
@@EthelMaeHenderson no. You were called out so you're changing your story. 64,000 miles isn't impressive at all and there was no need to say "all original parts" with such low mileage.
