  • Hi everyone! This is episode eight of my India series. In this vlog, I visit the capital of Rajasthan, namely Jaipur. Join me on a fascinating adventure as we explore the city.
    The vlog starts off with me getting my laptop repaired at Raisar Plaza. India is of course famous for its contributions to IT and computer support globally. After a tech fix, I explore the city via rickshaw or tuk-tuk, firstly passing through the Pink City towards the Amber Fort (also known as Amer Fort). In the process, I also get to know my rickshaw driver, Babu, a bit better.
    The Amber Fort is one of the main tourist attractions in Jaipur and I give my impressions on it as I walk around the palace overlooking the Maota Lake. I also talk about my unfortunate bout of food poisoning in India and what I have learned.
    The next stop is the 16th century Amer Stepwell, or Panna Meena Ka Kund. This is where many of the local people who worked for the king and queen of Rajasthan are believed to have bathed or collect water. I also visit a former temple opposite the road with some interesting carvings, monuments and other features.
    Driving back to the city center, I come across the Water Palace (or "Jah Mahal") situated in the Man Sagar Lake, before stopping for lunch at a local restaurant. After lunch, I visit a local textile factory and shop. Jaipur is of course famous for its textile industry and I believe all the textiles are made by hand.
    In the final part of the vlog, I walk around the Pink City and marvel at the majestic Hawa Mahal, or Palace of Winds. I also interact with a few locals and, as usual, connect over our mutual love for cricket!
    I hope you enjoy this vlog about Jaipur in India! If you haven't done it yet, please LIKE the video, SUBSCRIBE to the channel and leave a COMMENT for me in the comments section. Hi Willie, hope you feel better really soon, nothing worse than being ill when you are travelling. My husband got sick too when he was in India, but not as bad as when he ate street food in Bangkok… fascinating place Jaipur love all the greenery and the architecture is fantastic. Thank you for persevering especially as you were not feeling well , to give a great insight into life in India. Take care on your return journey to Delhi… look forward to seeing you bouncing back in your next adventure, Chris 😊

      Thanks for the well wishes Chris! There is no question that India and South Asia / South East Asia in general are challenging environments for travellers. Ironically I was always always fine in Thailand food wise, even after eating insects and scorpions. I don't even know for certain if it was the food that got me, it might be the general lack of hygiene and rubbish that cannot be good for you. Appreciate all your support, engagement and encouragement!

    Wow, what contrasts there are where you are, and lots of interesting things to see! Actually, my favorites are the free-range cows and goats! ... Hope you are feeling better. Know how much worse it is to get sick away from home! I always had a rule not to drink "local water" even if it wasn't suspect. It was still different than what my gut was used to ... stuck to bottled water, Coke, beer, wine, bottled juice. In areas that were suspect, didn't eat anything that wasn't pretty well cooked, too. I remember vividly violating that policy (lettuce on a hamburger) and paying dearly. Safe travels, Mr Willie ... always enjoy going along with you, this time with tea and Marie biscuits close by.

      Hi Jim, it is always so great hearing from you! Hope all is well in Tucson. Those cows on the street add such a unique touch to the India experience. I am a bit worried for their health though, as they seem to be snacking on some rubbish and discarded items along the roads. As for the food poisoning, yes it is unfortunately something many if not most travellers will encounter. I've heard from an Indian friend that some of the vendors scam people by selling tap water in refilled bottles, so you need to check the seals very, very carefully. Lettuce is something I avoid in general but yes the fruit and veg need to be properly washed and, where appropriate, peeled! I never say no to a cuppa and a Marie, enjoy! Thanks as always for watching and engaging :)

Great question regarding the cows, I actually don't know, but they seem to be snacking on the rubbish and discarded food. @@willieexplore I see huge potential in India. Hopefully the housing problem will be solved and the vast majority will move to more modern living quarters. Once the Indian cities acquire certain characteristics, as far as looks , I can see it becoming very attractive to foreign tourists and workers.

    • @HomiParsa-j7x
      @HomiParsa-j7x 4 дня назад +1

      But inspite of having such per capita income that amount is enough for Indians to live a decent life in India. That lower per capita income is not considered poor im India because you can literally rent apartment with electricity, running water and afford electrical household appliances with it. The reason: things in India are extremely cheap. India has some of the world's most economically liveable cities.
      India ranks 53 in ease of living index.
      Also it's classified as a middle income nation.
