Nice work. 👌 The weird thing is that I find myself learning about stuff that I thought I had zero interest in. 🤣

Nice save. That looked really frustrating 😤 but I felt your joy when you had that big capacitor on hand in a junk pile. And the final yay at 24.1 volts ⚡️ 😀.

I don't know what was the most exciting - finding the exact capacitor I needed in the first place I looked - or seeing that meter reading 24.1 volts!! 🤣🤣

Good job 'Sherlock', luckily it was all capacitors. 👍🧐

Thanks Alex! Yes, they are easy to swap out! They certainly seem to be the weakest link in a circuit!

Thanks for this, Chris - I learned a lot from watching the video and it was interesting. I guess there's value in that, even if it doesn't end up in your pocket! Keep up the great work - I always pick up some really useful things from your videos. 👍

You should be getting huge rebates from the Landfill Head Offices (do they exist?) for your work, Chris!

Thanks Grant! I'll be sure to fill out my claim form and sent it to some probably non-existent government department! 🤣

In the 2000s If one capacitor in a board has expanded they all would most likely come from the same supplier. I have replaced thousands of capacitors in both Ocean Brand (which had a 100% failure rate) and Intel brand (about 2% failure rate) Computer motherboards, it seamed to be certain capacitor manufacturers that caused it, I would replace every capacitor in a board and I had a 99% success rate. And do not put them in backwards… they can go BANG!

Yes, I think it was a particularly bad era for poor quality caps! Luckily none went bang, so must have got them all correct! Thanks for watching 😊👍

End of the day, it's made by a Chinese OEM. The components, especially the capacitors, are not made to the same quality standards as Japanese or Korean competitors. This is still the case to this day.
The set has done very well to last 15 years in all honesty.

Yep, I'm sure 15 years is outside its life expectancy! Thanks Jason 👍😊
