    Joining a choir class can be quite taxing. Currently in a show choir, and my range is always iffy when in school. However, on the weekends, My range drops from a lucky C#2 to a consistent C2 from simply not singing. Resting your voice is extremely important, singing low or high.

      Hello friend...You opinion and experience is as important as mine or anyones, first and foremost...I am not questioning your words, nor being negative, please note that. In my own experience, the less I practice, the worse my low range is. And I can leave you cuddling in a corner crying for mama when we talk about loud and resonant low notes haha :) But that is nothing, even if you are a high bass, nothing wrong about that. But I am coming from a classical backroung of vocal lessons, and classical singer have to have very good stamina, singing almost every day (at least lot of them) and they cannot let their voice "relax" in certain way. Of course, they all know how to breathe, they use leaning the breath mostly, look for various appoggio breathing techniques and consult that with you teacher. Because if you have to relax to get your low notes to pop out, then you are very possibly doing something totally wrong. Me, when I don!t practice every day, my low range goes nuts basically. But feel free to do whatever you want, just be happy ;) These are just my experiences, my truth, but to you it is knowledge and knowledge should never overshadow truth. Be positive and keep singing, you have a fan in me ;) Cheers Ivo

      Or when you get a COLD. ;-) But yeah, sing a few really high notes, and the low ones tend to go bye-bye, for a while, I've found. For people who constantly have trouble breathing quickly through their noses, due to constriction, a Neti Pot, gross as it seems (it is, kinda) can really work wonders. Follow directions, though, especially with frequency of use. Sure helped me.

    I agree with you %100 but as a 53 year old bass the most important thing is sing with great technique and the low notes will come with time. In my 20's my lowest chest note was B flat now I'm down to an F In chest voice and very comfortable with A flats anytime. Just be patient...good singing isn't always the lowest.

      Muscles loosen up when you get older too! I kinda wanna be 60 already to have that amazing tone that your worn vocal chords can give, it's chilling!

    • @user-gh4ur4jq1e
      @user-gh4ur4jq1e 11 месяцев назад

      @@hcildwold1751 I'm late on this one but the vocal folds tend to lose their bulk with aging, becoming thinner and stiffer and lose mobility and you progressively lose the ability to go as low as you would've gone in your 40s for example (the timbre is also gonna change with age). This means the most productive years for an average bass would be between the [insert the age when one becomes classified as a bass - e.g. 20 y/o]s and 70-ish but it heavily depends on the person. Though some people do seem to get lower and lower as they age, and as I said, it depends on many factors. Still, have this in mind.

      @@trumpetplayerdude9838 My lowest chest note as a baritone is an Eb2, or a D2 on a good day but ive put a lot of hours into singing higher and lower. I can sing up to a falsetto F5 pretty consistently and sometimes squeak out a G5. I can chest-fry down to a G1 very well, subharmonic down to A0, and growl/inhale down to F0 now. I don't think I am nearly as good as most of these great bass singers out here, and I may not get a resonant C2 (unless my voice drops a bit more as I age) but becoming a better singer and widening range is not all too hard with a ton of practice.

    I have practice over almost 10 years practecing songs where the singers are bass singers and it helped a lot, ive seen and feel the change. Before singing some of Lacrimas Profundere songs were hard, now its easy, well not all of them because the band owner of Lacrimas Profundere sings very low in Shiver and the new singer is like him and sings very low too. Now im practecing some songs of Gothminister were the lead singer is baritone but still is bass voice and the raspiness of his voice in some parts on songs like Demons, Darkness or Utopia just tells me that he has like more than 15 years of experience and i think its like almost 30 years of experience.
    You can do all the tips that he gives you but if you dont practice then you will not see progress. Practice is the way to perfection.

      I’m 15 and I have been singing bass since I was 12 and I learned a good amount of stuff that’s really helpful. Don’t force your lower notes because it will damage your vocal chords and will make your voice higher. Try working on your high register a lot as well because on my experience, my low range expanded after practicing high notes. And before you sing, relax your neck and try doing some exercises that relax your neck. I did all of this and I went from an Eb2 to a daily C2 and the lowest I’ve gone is G1. It really makes a difference if you practice it for a lot of time.

And he is REALLY good at it, MHO, 1st octave solid, 0th to some degree. From what I can see, it's easy to fry (it is, I tried it during the vid". Controlling it, pitch wise is a WHOLE different matter. The little bit I tried, very very hard. Betting it takes MANY hours of practice, and he tells you to be careful with that.

      Depends, probably, with enough work. My lowest was a G2 at the beginning of 2019, now it's a C2 and sometimes, coincidentally, a B1. If yours is a D2 (comfortably), depending on how your voice decides it wants to grow, you might be able to get down to a Bb1 or even an A1.

I still sometimes do notes like that now and can hit a chest A1 sometimes, but I mostly use my range from G2-E4 now. I know now that because I am a baritone, I sound much better in that range. I don’t work on my extreme lows as much as I used to. I sound okay when I sing in the bass range, but not amazing. At the end of the day, the baritone range is where my voice shines.

    Hello Tomi I wanted to know if you could solve my doubts since I am confused about whether I am a bass or a baritone. some singing teachers have told me that I am a developing bass others that I am a baritone and even some have told me that I am a tenor because supposedly my passage zone is between F4 and G4. and the truth everyone leaves me confused my comfortable voice range is between a Eb2 to an Eb4 although I could go down to a G # 1 and go up to a G # 4 all in my chest voice record. With falsetto or head voice I can reach a G5 comfortably but I can go up to a C # 6. In my mixed voice I was able to reach a C # 5 and although I can reach very low notes my timbre is very light, it is not like a bass and I do not have a voice as deep as yours. The only reason I want to know my type of voice is because I don't want to cause any kind of damage to my voice, because if I'm really a bass I don't want to force myself to sing songs from a tenor or something to do.

    I'm curious, for you bottom dwellers, what is your go-to mic for live stage performance? I get below a C2 and my Senheiser e935 doesn't quite pick it up. And that's right on it, and it's known for having a pretty good proximity effect. It captures the air part of course, so that's not good.

    Anyway... I am 21 years, and my range is C2-E4. I noticed that I have increase in resonance. My low notes are much more comfortable and beautiful than my high notes.
    Do I have a chance to become a bass or a bass baritone at least? Haha
    I want to learn chest fry, but it leads me to E1, D, C1 even B0. It's quite hard to sing a B1 or A1 in chest fry to me. I use subharmonics to sing A1, G1 and F1.

    Hi, bro. I'm brazilian. I'm 20 y old. My lowest chest voice is D#2. But, in the morning is B1/C2. Frying I can hit C#1. My tessiture is D#2-D4. With falsetto is E4-E5.
    I'm a bass or baritone? *My voice will be more dark and lower (F1, A1 in chest voice) when I have 30/35 years old?*
    (Sorry, my english is basic.)

    • @allistercrow2405
      @allistercrow2405 4 года назад +1

      Maybe, if you work hard at it. If you can comfortably hit a D#2 now, I have no doubts you will be able to sing the highest notes of the first octave and maybe a bit lower if you practice really hard. Apparently, working your higher range can also extend your lower range, so make sure to work on everything.

      In Brazil, my country, there is not much content in our language about vocal bass. We don't have much content about sub-harmonic, fry, etc. I can only watch videos in English, like Geoff C., Tomi P., etc.
      How can I train hard and evolve to achieve lower grades?

    • @allistercrow2405
      @allistercrow2405 4 года назад

      @@leonardosaraivadatuf it may seem daunting, but it's not hard, pick a note you want to hit in the near future, when I started it was E2 (cause I only had G2 at the time). Sing a halfstep down and work on getting those pitches solid, when you get down to the desired note, push it further. From E2 to D2 and from D2 to C2 and from C2 to B1 and lower if you so please. A good way to warm up your low notes is to drop your Adams apple and keep it as relaxed as possible, then hum the note until you can find it in your chest region, once you've found it, try increasing the resonance. It'll be hard at first but it gets easier. Once you've mastered it that way, go the rest of the way by getting it to the point where you don't have to forcefully drop your larynx, it'll become a comfortable chest note, and just keep doing that til you make it.
