Nice review. My primary reason for wanting something like this would be so I could take my hand off the bars for signaling or waving a 'thank you' without fear of losing control. Would this fit other DT models such as the Eagle?
Yeah, being able to take a hand off briefly is a really nice benefit. I have seen this damper installed on other models, but some of them require drilling a special mounting point. I can't remember exactly which models this fits, your best bet would be to contact them. Good luck!
Hey can you send me a link to that light setup? I'm getting my DT3 on Monday . Need some good accessories to add..maybe a phone mount suggestion as well . Thanks .
Congrats on the purchase, the DT3 is a really fun scooter! This is the phone holder I'm using: amzn.to/31EvIKH And this is the lights I'm using, not cheap, but awesome: amzn.to/3irs8tq
You will need both the damper and the damper mount. Mounting the damper is the hard part, but ken sonken can help you out, or you can find one on aliexpress. 👽🖖
Maybe faster only off-roading. The off-road tires are going to be louder with less traction in turns. I wouldn't recommend that unless you really love trail riding and do it a lot.
Hello how is your thunder have u got any problems and I've brought one because I still think this scooter will beat most of the new models what u think and how was this damper holding on after a while ?
Can you incorporate a comfortable, removable seat and post to attache without interferences. Or is that feature already available in the scooter marketplace.
The bigger scooters like the Thunder generally have seats that you can incorporate. I believe you need to screw the mount into the deck though. So there is some interference, but you can always take the screws out to remove it. I haven’t tried the seat myself, but heard it’s nice.
Your videos are superb and I thoroughly enjoy them especially with the beautiful background of San Francisco but how is the reliability factor do you have to replace the motor that runs the wheels every 6 months and then I hear about how you may have replaced the battery once a year? Any feedback would be great. Possibly a video on pros and cons.
Hello! Actually for these scooters, at least Dualtrons, they will generally run for years without needing to change core components. Motors are pretty simple and should last for years, and batteries can last 5+ years. There is one Dualtron 3 with over 10k km/6k miles on it, and they only had to change a few flat tires and brake pads (stock motor and battery). These are definitely a good investment for the mileage you can get out of them.
So I've gotten the offer to buy one of these for my thunder. Do you think it makes a difference? I love my dualtron. Got it to 58 mph I know the speedo is a little off but super happy with it!
Pretty crazy if it was reading 58, but might be doable on a long downhill stretch. I think it makes a big difference and it will be a great addition to your scooter! Let me know how you find it after a few rides with it.
It was on flat wind with me. 57 58. Going a slight down hill 63...when I donmloaded an app at the end of the day when I was at 70 percent battery my top speed on app was 51.188 I'm going to try again and use my go pro and do the gps feature
cam ramirez gotcha, the other thing you want to verify is your scooter settings. I forget which setting it is, but one of them is the dire diameter and if it’s wrong the speed will be wrong.
Yeah I used a jps on my phone got her up to 54 mph. At the time the speedometer was reading 63 so it is a little off. But wow I'm impressed! I only weigh 167 so that's prob why. My buddy who is 200 takes a little bit to hit 50. But I'm happy with it!
Alien Rides Oh I see 😂😂😂 well I’m going look around for a good bag because I just purchased bunch of gear for my scooter so I might need a bag pretty soon.🤣 😬
Alien Rides Also you should check out Kriega backpacks and Dry Packs for your batteries. The bags are short of expensive but I heard they are really comfortable when it comes to carrying heavy loads and they are water proof.
Since you own a Rion scooter and have probably tested its upper limits of speed, do you feel it needs a damper to be safe at those speeds (60-80mph)? Or have they already incorporated a similar concept into their scooters?
I just went 70 mph today on a Rion and did not need a damper at all, I don't think it's necessary for the Rion at all. They have stiffness built into their steering mechanism already.
@@AlienRides That's great news! I'm interested in one. I already own a Kaabo Wolf Warrior 11+ but have found that it tends to get what I would call speed wobbles around 45-50+ mph. I never really purchased that one for the road though, since it's more of an offroad machine. In looking at the Rion, it looks like a pure blast for on-road use and I also feel like the police are going to be easier on someone going 50+mph on a scooter rather than someone doing the same on an e-bike/motorcycle. My other big question is this: how do they deal with potholes/rough roads? On my kaabo, I have complete confidence over potholes because it has ridiculous suspension for a scooter. But thinking about the rion, I do worry a bit about travelling over California roads at high speeds. Obviously the best bet is to avoid bumps, but sometimes they can sneak up on you.
@@ErikWilliamsviolin You're definitely going to feel the pot holes but they're manageable. Just got back from a speed run, hit about 75mph or so. I love that machine.
Thanks! I think a damper can work with any scooter, you might just need to do a lot of custom work to get it to work on the emove cruiser, like designing the mounting mechanism if no one has done it yet.
I'm actually not sure on a damper that will fit the gotway scooter, I believe that scooter is also based on the "magnum scooter frame", so searching aliexpress might yield something, or you might have to DIY your own solution. Good luck!
Since you talk about scooters so much you should make a video on how to ride a scooter properly and safely. Never thought until I saw this video. Be pretty awesome if you could do that.😁
Alien Rides I like the damper the only down side it that if you put that on you won’t be able to attach the Range Extender. 😅 It is crazy how far I can go. Pretty much have the same range as the Dualtron X which is insane.😅
Alien Rides Wow that’s a lot. Well I’m not sure think I might stick with the Errexd luck oh I know dealer who can sell me one. Hmm might consider buying one because the roads are bad where I’m at pothole paradise over here.😅
Nice, it's a great headlight. I have a bag int he front of my scooter which holds the battery. I can also charge the battery in the bag since the cord runs outside of it, and just plug the battery into an adapter at home. It's easy, but maybe not as clean as if you hardwired it.
Hey man! I use the Gemini 4000 Lights, I like them because they're super bright. I ordered from amazon here: amzn.to/36zm6Qd If they're sold out on Amazon, perhaps you can purchase them from their website here: gemini-lights.com/
@@AlienRides does it really do the job in preventing the handle bars to move freely when hitting bumps or potholes? I am quite guilty of this and i tend to have my eyes on the road 100% and sometimes its not tht pleasant
You generally get what you pay for so my guess would be no, but this damper did seem to work. I couldn't find a damper on the carbonrevo website, can you link it to me?
Another nice vid bro. I ride with my left foot forward also so can understand how this damper set-up would get in the way. Is it possible to set up the damper on the right side of the stem? as this would eliminate the problem of losing foot space. Well at least for me anyway. Also, does setting up the damper on the left side, as you have it, work best or is safer in most set-ups?
Hey, so I think damper-wise it doesn’t really matter which side it’s on. The only thing is that the front damper mount drops the kiddie bar down a tad. If you reverse that, and have a kiddie bar, it would instead raise the kiddie bar, which could cause problems. Maybe it’s not a problem for you, or we can ask them to make a custom right-sided version for us.
Awesome decision, the Speedway V is a great scooter and you're going to love it. A damper would definitely work on it, but I'm not sure if this company currently makes a kit for it. If not, some custom machine work and tapping might be required. Maybe contact Ken Sonken engineering to see if they have one available.
So I’m a heavier rider, and I do live in a city so that means lots of stops and starts. I’m I’m riding fast all day though, I find I get about 30-35 miles of range. Do you have a thunder? Is that in line with what you find?
Alien Rides I just got mine and right out of the box the stem was very wobbly and not safe to ride. I finally got it fixed and luckily didn’t have to spend too much money, everything is working fine now. So I just did a 4.6miles fast ride, mostly at full speed 45mph with some traffic lights, on a hilly & cold (60F) windy day. It took about 16minutes, I’m about 150lbs and when I arrived the battery drained 4% to 96% or somewhere along the line of 65.2V battery. After that, I was able to put it in my trunk(C63S trunk on the small side) relatively easily, because it folds up with no loose parts. Very impressive. Although ~95lbs was a bit heavy for me but I’m kind of used to it by now, lifting it in & out of my cars.
andygreat423 awesome! Too bad about the stem, it glad you got that fixed! Sounds like you’re going to get some awesome range on it. Have fun and ride safe!
Alien Rides I was thinking of maybe riding it at night, was the stock light enough for urban lighting or do I need to get an external light? Like the one you had installed on your DTT, it looks really cool but I’m not sure if I can justify spending $350 on a light. Have you used it at night at all? How does it compare to say maybe something that’s a bit cheaper? Maybe around $100?
andygreat423 i do think that additional lighting can help a lot. You don’t need my light, but getting a good 2-3k lumens is worth it in my mind. Two cheaper lights would probably do the job just fine.
Thanks! Personally I like the Gemini Titan lights quite a bit, low profile, super bright, and a convenient battery pack. Not the cheapest though. amzn.to/36zm6Qd
Not yet, but I'm thinking I need to. My front tire has had a plug for a while after it got a flat, and now there's another slow leak. I'm probably going to go over it with soapy water to see if I can plug it again, otherwise I need to replace it. What about you, do you have a Thunder?
@@AlienRidesdamn let me know when you do, they used stainless steel bolts that hold the motors to the rims supposedly they are a pain in the butt to undo, yeah i have a thunder i commute to and from work everyday on it atm
Haven't seen your scooter in a while looks good. I see you put the carbon Revo mudguard on it(looks better). Didn't you shred your stock fender with that trailer? I can see the damper being useful for some people. My 740 mm bars took care of the stability, high speed wobble and flex while still giving me full range when turning👍✌
Hey! Yeah, stock fender got shredded, either due to the trailer or stepping on it, or a combination of both. Carbon revo mudguard is nice, until it gets you in the shin, then you want to rip it off 😂 Heard a few guys had to get stitches after slicing their leg on it. Good you can maintain stability on your scooter, it’s a great skill to have.
@@AlienRides The reason why I kept the stock fender on my ultra is because it works good and the carbon Revo mudguard would have blocked out the light on the tow bar.👍✌
I always wondered if scooters could have some type of dampening for high speed. Be cool if someone did a dynamic version with less resistence at low speed and more at high speed. Thx for the vid!
How about turning? no one talk about this, specially at low speed around the city and people walking on bike paths. Does it take more effort to turn, my guess is you're not as agile? I also don't need a damper and have no problem hitting 40-50 km/h. I have no plans to try to hit the top speed of my Dulatron Achilleus.
Find a link to the company in the video description, currently the best way is to message them. There's also several options available on aliexpress, just search for dualtron damper. Good luck!
Yesterday at this bike trail, some guy riding a motorized bicycle tried to overtake me, while I was riding my Qiewa Qpower, he was roughly around 10 meters behind me, as a heard his engine accelarate attempting to overtake me, I look over my shoulder, I smile, then switch to "3 gear/ dual motor" and I pulled away! 💨😄 .

Hi A/R I have tried getting in touch with Ken for the bracket to hold the damper I have ordered do you know of anybody else who does them ? Many thanks Ray K UK YNWA Sorry its all done, Shocked at £160 for what it is BMW dont even charge that much lol
Alien rides: If the purpose of the damper is the keep the steering as straight as possible - then ALL you need to do is to mount TWO medium grade SPRINGS on each side? Do you follow what I'm saying? The pulling force from both spring will ALWAYS keep the handlebar straight.
I think that would definitely work to keep the handlebars straight, I guess one additional feature of the damper though is that it keeps the handlebars where you want them. So if you're doing a long banking turn for example, the handlebars will stay turned a bit. Would be interesting to try the spring method for sure though.
Springs don't only dampen, they return the energy in the opposite direction - they bounce. Bouncy steering = wobbles. And yes, I was silly enough to try. You don't even need springs for your death trap, just wrap some bungee coords. Again, do NOT try this.
heya im doing quite a bit of work, I think that the mods that im doing are important and also open the thunder to all year riding, im connecting powerful light which offers high and low beam, 12v power oulet for heated heating to attach too, a 12v horn, indicators with running day lights, heated grips, and a usb phone mount, finally the MT5E brakes.
@@frederickoparah1669 Yeah, those are probably the most functional and important mods. They will also do a lot for safety as well. What scooter are you adding them to?
Hi too late for us but iff others ask , MadCharge do the Damper and the Bracket for $148.50 in total thats anazing price, Just letting you know hope you get out soon with all your scooter friends, Ray K UK. YNWA.
is really worth it? I think is waaay to expensive for what it does lol. the way you move your head when speaking is kinda wierd sometimes, but I really like your enthusiasm for it :)) Enjoy the kit ! - dualtron thunder IS A WAY OF LIFE !!!
Haha, thanks for the feedback! The damper is really nice for sure, but as for “worth it”, I’m not sure if any of the mods are really worth it. But it’s a fun hobby to trick out scooters, so why not 🤷♂️😅
@@SebastianPappG it does limit left and right turning, but also adds resistance. This resistance makes it easier to control the scooter since it helps keep the handlebars straight. Many beginners can fall after going over a bump or jump, this is most often because the handlebars will shift and are no longer straight while the scooter is in the air. The damper helps prevent that case, and can save people from crashing. Now I do recommend that riders learn how to handle these cases without a damper, as it will make them better riders in the long run.

Wow good job beautiful modifications on your Dualtron Thunder! I have one, a beautiful machine really looking for a stabilizer. Depending upon the conditions I get some pretty intense wobble happens during torque changes.
For sure, sounds like a stabilizer could help quite a bit! In the meantime there's a few different things you can try. Maybe try putting more weight on the front foot so your front tire gets more traction on the road. Also try grip strength and tenseness on the handlebars. In addition you could try to get longer handlebars which also helps with handling. Good luck with your ride!

I'm using the Titan Gemini, it's a really powerful and awesome light. Not cheap though. amzn.to/39vLaJf

JOHN CA yes, it comes with a rechargeable battery pack.
@@AlienRides Thank you my friend!!
Where you buy the Brackets
Hello! I messaged him on Facebook, link in video description.
Do you think this damper would work on my Emove Cruiser?? Ty great video
Thanks! I think a damper can work with any scooter, you might just need to do a lot of custom work to get it to work on the emove cruiser, like designing the mounting mechanism if no one has done it yet.
Alien Rides Thanks Brother I think I’ll give it a try for that extra stability!!
Will this damper fit a gotway scooter? And if not can u recommend one that will
I'm actually not sure on a damper that will fit the gotway scooter, I believe that scooter is also based on the "magnum scooter frame", so searching aliexpress might yield something, or you might have to DIY your own solution. Good luck!
What 6x led light is that?? I like it a lot.
It's the Gemini Titan lights. I like them because they have a low profile, are super bright, and sport a convenient battery pack. amzn.to/36zm6Qd
@@AlienRides thanks! Love your videos by the way.
Genius. Now I’m buying this!
You should, it's a great addition to any ride. 👽🖖
Since you talk about scooters so much you should make a video on how to ride a scooter properly and safely. Never thought until I saw this video. Be pretty awesome if you could do that.😁
That’s a great idea, I’ll definitely have to do that some day!
Alien Rides I like the damper the only
down side it that if you put that on you won’t be able to attach the Range Extender. 😅 It is crazy how far I can go. Pretty much have the same range as the Dualtron X which is insane.😅
Slim567 that’s awesome! There are other ways of mounting the damper. But you need to drill and tap into the scooter neck, not super easy to do.
Alien Rides Wow that’s a lot. Well I’m not sure think I might stick with the Errexd luck oh I know dealer who can sell me one. Hmm might consider buying one because the roads are bad where I’m at pothole paradise over here.😅
I bought that same headlight. Do you have it hardwired somehow?
Or do you take off and charge it each time?
Nice, it's a great headlight. I have a bag int he front of my scooter which holds the battery. I can also charge the battery in the bag since the cord runs outside of it, and just plug the battery into an adapter at home. It's easy, but maybe not as clean as if you hardwired it.
Are those costum decks slippery?? Thanks.
It's got some grip tape on it, and I never had a problem with it. 👽🖖
What’s the name of the lights you used on the your scooter?

Hi alien. Just got back to tell u that iv purchased inokim oxo and thunder. How are you liking your damper?
Whoa sounds like you got an awesome scooter combination. I like the damper a lot, I think I’ll definitely mod future scooters to have it if needed.
@@AlienRides does it really do the job in preventing the handle bars to move freely when hitting bumps or potholes? I am quite guilty of this and i tend to have my eyes on the road 100% and sometimes its not tht pleasant
chuck noel absolutely, I think that’s one of the key safety features of having a damper.
@@AlienRides how do you order from ken sonken?
chuck noel I messaged them on Facebook, not sure if there is a better way. We have a link in the video description.
The damper you got from amazon is much cheaper than carbonrevo, is it the same quality ?
Scott Sommers
Hi Scoot, no cannot switch this mounting kit, sorry. I tried to make a symmetric set but it wasn’t good enough.
oliver ken thank you for the reply and the clarification. Still an awesome mod btw even in its current form.

Awesome decision, the Speedway V is a great scooter and you're going to love it. A damper would definitely work on it, but I'm not sure if this company currently makes a kit for it. If not, some custom machine work and tapping might be required. Maybe contact Ken Sonken engineering to see if they have one available.

Hi Alien! is this Damper possible to use for weped ct?
I believe I've seen dampers on pretty much every weped, so it should be possible. I'm not that familiar with the CT though. Are you getting one?
@@AlienRides i havr ct.. but im having a problem when im on 40kph speed and up... badly need damper.
Hey man can you please tell me what is the estimated maximum range on the DT Thunder when driven fast (40mph+) most of the time? thank you
So I’m a heavier rider, and I do live in a city so that means lots of stops and starts.
Hey mate theres a steering damper from kwk ali express for half a price. Any feedback on it?
Haven’t tried it myself, I think it should work though!
@@AlienRides also u got a carbon revo deck cover. I assume u changed to a longer screws too for ur damper to work with the deck right?

Thank you very much! Appreciate the feedback.
What size is the damper, or is it universal size? 😊
How did you install your lights? Can i have the link to the parts?
have you had to replace tyres on your thunder yet dude?

I think you can definitely install a damper on the Ultra 2, i'm not sure if this exact one will work. 👽🖖
Hi alien I bought mudguard like yours, I fine it too long it can be cut isn’t it
Yes, it is quite long and I have hit my shin on it a few times, ouch! I'm not sure if you can cut it sadly, maybe you need a laser cutter.
Where did you buy the front lamp?

It's on something called a "kiddie bar". Many scooter modders will sell them, or you can also get one from carbon revo.

Yup, you definitely can. The part that it mounts to on the stem is below the folding mechanism.

I believe Ken makes the best one, and they definitely aren't cheap. There's other options on aliexpress I believe, but I don't have a link handy.
@@AlienRides Ok. I didn't know that. Thank you;.
Springs don't only dampen, they return the energy in the opposite direction - they bounce. Bouncy steering = wobbles.
And yes, I was silly enough to try. You don't even need springs for your death trap, just wrap some bungee coords.
Again, do NOT try this.

Haha, thanks for the feedback! The damper is really nice for sure, but as for “worth it”, I’m not sure if any of the mods are really worth it. But it’s a fun hobby to trick out scooters, so why not 🤷♂️😅
basically, that damper has only ONE mission, to limit the way u are turning left and right, right?
@@SebastianPappG it does limit left and right turning, but also adds resistance. This resistance makes it easier to control the scooter since it helps keep the handlebars straight. Many beginners can fall after going over a bump or jump, this is most often because the handlebars will shift and are no longer straight while the scooter is in the air. The damper helps prevent that case, and can save people from crashing. Now I do recommend that riders learn how to handle these cases without a damper, as it will make them better riders in the long run.
