I love how in some parts of the song you can hear some kind of "distorted chanting", like it's some kind of lost soul. Could be the voices from enemies Akuma has already killed, or could even be the last traces of humanity inside this man-turned-demon, just slowly fading away
At the beginning of both the first round and low health phases I think I can also make out what sounds like screaming
It sounds like buddhist chants which makes me think of how Akuma uses meditation to have control over his actions, maybe it's to show that altough he still has control he use the Satsui no Hado more than ever before and/or he has reached a new height of power.
Thats my favorite thing about this ost, so unique - cant wait to have it during his raging demon
I think I like them as meditation. They're not the screaming damned or some remnant of himself. This *is* Akuma. His entire narrative is shaped by him not simply being a Demon. He pushed past humanity and Demonhood and is attaining Heaven with each passing day. He's the strongest character in the series because to gain the power he seeks, he has to choose not to lose himself. Becoming Oni is more immediately powerful, sure, but he knows he can be better, and thus chooses not to surrender himself to the Satsui no Hado.

Rose's win quote against Oni in 4 prophesizes that he'll come eventually and seeing the small details Akuma has gotten through 5 and especially 6 (Like Akuma's face becoming black whenever he does demon moves like how Oni does) Akuma is getting stronger and chooses to waver his humanity.

The low-health section is so atonal and tense, I love it. Favorite theme in the game for me.
While I am not a massive fan of the SF6 soundtrack I love that the tunes are medleys that change depending on what is happening in game.
@@jitteryzeitgeist Hate to be that guy, but it is not atonal. Atonal means having no tonal center (not belonging to a key/absence of the tonic). However, the notes clearly outline the chords B dim b7 and Bb dim b7, creating a 2 chord half-step progression. I think what you are trying to describe is the general use of dissonance (which I agree is very cool).
I believe you're missing the outro at 4:08. Also, I feel like mid-round sections don't usually last longer than ~15 seconds, so maybe the third round starts earlier than your timestamp. It's tough to say for Akuma's theme, though. Other than that -- nice work!

This is almost a natural evolution of his third strike theme. Where in third strike he was given drum and bass with a flute, now he’s given a drill beat with a flute. While I personally prefer the former, it’s cool how his sound has evolved to match the times without losing the aesthetic.

Yeah, this is basically his main original theme and "Killing Moon" if the resulting combination was made intentionally more eerie. I guess I overall like it, but I'm bit disappointed that they didn't have some nod to "Worth of My Fists" given the overall hip-hop aesthetic _SF6_ has. (Although now that I think about it, I wonder if Capcom has full rights to the various _CvS(2)_ songs.)

This song genuinely gets more unsettling the longer you listen to it, like if Akuma is losing himself in the battle, at the beginning still slightly a man, but the longer the fight goes, it sounds like Akuma is thirsting for blood, like slowly letting himself go.
That's why I can never get enough of it.
The demonic off pitch harmonies on those flutes is so cool!

This is a masterpiece. The strength and speed of Akuma are found in the punchlines of the drums and bass. The flute embodies his violence and fighting spirit, the pure villainy found within him. The vocal chants are a perfect representation of the godly presence that this character expresses, touched with a distortion that show his true warped, demonic self.

@apextwin1993 The France stage theme is the only other one that's memorable/ halfway decent. This one is ok, but it's mogged really hard by Killing Moon.
Fun fact: the kanji on Akuma's back doesn't actually stand for "heaven".
Instead of the more well-known 天 ("ten"), Akuma presents a 夭 ("yo") kanji on his back after performing the Raging Demon. Both are very similar, except for the topmost line on 夭 being slightly slanted to the left.
夭 roughly translates to "early death" or "calamity", which fits the nature of the Raging Demon and Akuma's character like a glove if you ask me. Of course, SF devs most likely took the misinterpretation and ran with it, making conquering/ascending to heavens part of Akuma's motivation.

In 'Heaven' - first stroke is going right, then the hand goes down obliquely to the left and then again right to the 2nd stroke. 'Yo' starts from the right and goes down obliquely to the left. It just doesn't fit.
I thought it meant "death", but "calamity" is very cool too.
