Nice work, had never heard of a concrete chainsaw -- looks super clean and way better than chipping all that out and then pouring a new slab.

Nice job! Definitely a good idea to keep the old slab piece to drop right back in.

You are a man after my own heart your obviously not poor if you have a lovely pool like that
But you just cannot get a decent quote or workman to do a job hence do it yourself

You should of made another cut to take a smaller piece out then you can remove the rest but good job

nice job man. the contractors wont take it because its too small of a job. other words, its a pain to do and not enough money to be made.

Have you never heard of a concrete saw? Round blade which is thinner and a LOT easier to control.

I considered a round demo saw but than you can’t make clean 90 degree corner cuts. Only a concrete chainsaw can make clean square corner cuts.

A 14” diamond blade is surprisingly square at full plunge. Just get as close as you can, tap with a sledge and lift with a Grabo.

I’m in the middle of two skimmer boxes…rented a concrete saw for 275…hot knife through butter…depth of about 4 inches…hatch sliced the block in minutes…then sledged to hammer drill out…bear of a job…

We cut the space we need and then cut boxes inside that space, hit it in center with jackhammer, and literally pull the rest out with a pry bar 1,2,3

Why don't you just fill it up with concrete rather than reuse the same piece ?

Because the coolcrete surface would be lost and the new concrete would look very different from the rest of the pool deck.
