I was asked what I was going to study, where. Previous academic levels. What I was doing in my home country. And a trick question : mention a course I was going to select from my degree.
Pointers: I learned from this page to be honest, not to overdress, to mention a scholarship If I had one. To use the first Chance to say as much as I want.

As ben said, the University's reputation matters, it really does. I had my visa interview on July 11th, 2023 at the Kolkata Consulate, my interview lasted for 30 seconds and I got approved. Others who were giving visa interviews there, lasted up to 5 mins on average. Not just that, the visa officer who took my interview, didn't ask to see any other documents except for I20 Form.
The officer only asked 2 questions. I guess it got approved so quickly because I was going to study at BROWN University. At the end of the interview, the officer told me “congratulations, welcome to Rhode Island” ❤

Hi. I have a visa appointment. So, I watched all videos related to this topic on RUclips. Based on those videos, your answers were too short. I mean you didn't give enough information to the officer. The US visa issuance has a communicating process. More specifically their main purpose of throwing these types of questions is sparking a conversation, in order to get enough information from you, as an applicant. So, when you give them a short reply, they can't get enough information. that's why they have no choice except refusing the applicant. I know how hard it is for you. I recommend you to watch RUclips videos as much as you can!!! I'm sure you can nail it next time....Good luck :)))) @@MeetPrajapati-u6j

Hi! My F1 visa was rejected twice. I dont know really what happened. But in both interviews they asked me about my parents jobs. I mentioned them as my sponsors, and I said that they work as teachers in high schools. Then they told me that they coudnt give me my visa. Is it possible that it was the problem? I mean, I think they dont trust that my parents are able to pay the cost of my college because of their jobs. Thank you!

Thanks for this, that was very useful. I am currently applying for a B1/B2 visa as I will be attending a short workshop and conference in Chicago where I am presenting, and then I am staying with a friend for a few days. I already have secured funding from my local university in the UK (as a non-UK citizen), my field of PhD is clinical neurology. I realised I have not included all my jobs from the last 5 years in my DS160 application but just my most recent university teaching jobs. I was a full-time Master's student before that but have also had a few less relevant jobs that ai just somehow didn't think I should include. So I didn't. Should I contact the embassy or fill out a new form? I already have a date for my visa interview in my home country of Bulgaria at the end of June and the conference is at the end of August, so not much time. Any advice would be much appreciated!! :).

I have the feeling that it's just my Bulgarian nationality preventing me from having confidence that I'll pass the interview.
