The “smiley face” icon is a commonly used placeholder graphic in game development. “Evil Otto”, the evil smiley face from Berzerk, actually originated as a placeholder graphic, but the developers decided to leave the smiley face graphic in (possibly due to the irony of a symbol that represents happiness hunting you down and trying to murder your humanoid ass). Also the name “Otto” is a reference to one of the developers.

My mind is blown.
I always saw that dot on Break Man's helmet as single eye to look more threatening, but it was actually Proto Man's nose. XD
It'll always be a menacing eye to me.
I always thought it was a Sniper Joe eye

The *PLANT BOI* joke still makes me laugh.

Shadowsunite Preferably an English translated rom of Rockman & Forte on the SFC, as opposed to the inferior GBA port.
He should do the regular Japanese one because the translated could remove stuff
The Wood Man colors strike me more as seasonal variants (as seen in the ending), with pink representing spring and orange representing autumn. But hey, that's just speculation.
I see lost bits and I click, it’s just common sense.

The Guts Man stumbling frame looked like some form of fall damage. Because the games obviously weren't hard enough, right?
yes, but that frame only shows when hit by guts man stomp attack, nowhere else
the real lost bit is that the same animation exists in megaman 2 but in that game theres nothing equivalent to guts man attack, the animation plays randomly when hit
@@omegarugal9283 actually, i remenber triggering the animation in the 1st game as a kid. No cheats or something, just letting myself got hit by the penguins as i shoot with the blue bridge thing cannon.
Hope you guys enjoyed this first Mega Man Lost Bits video! Which of the original 6 is your favourite??
Let me know if you want to see more Mega Man games! :D
I love all your stuff bro
Nice video 👍
Can you do Battle Network 6?
@@ASA-ux7cg I plan to if enough people would be interested!
Yes, I want to see more Mega Man games TetraBitGaming
2:37 They're actually sounds for Death sounds.
1:17 tetrabit, you fool! Obviously the last sprite was for an unused game over screen where light flips you off for not saving the world.

i think that megaman looking backwards was meant for the "Get Weapon" scene where he would spin to the screen and get the power-up, but it could be also a part of a menu as you said TBG
8:55 PLUNGERS!!! COME ON TETRA!! LOOK AT THEM AND TELL ME THEY'RE NOT PLUNGERS!!! I WANT THIS TO BE IN 3D FORM IN MEGA MAN 12!!!

GTA VII FOUND DEEP WITHIN MEGAMAN UNUSED CONTENT, GTA VII IN NES?
GTA r 7 ?
Hmmmsd
Regarding the bit from the first game that makes Rockman fall over...you are almost certainly correct that this is a holdover from Gutsman's fight. I'd bet good money that what the code is doing is setting some internal register or variable that normally only gets set after Gutsman does a ground-pound.
2 years latter: MMm Mmm. Makes sense!
"And probably my favorite, Mega Man 2"
Mega Man 3: so you've chosen death
Mega man 3 is my favorite game

3 is probably my least fav. 4 is my favorite on nes
mega man 4
[Insert image of 3 dominos from least big on the left and most on the right labeled "mega man 2, mega man 3, mega man 4"]
Great video. I'm surprised you didn't discuss all the wierd things you can do with controller 2 in Megaman 3.
As to why. Megaman came out so rushed and fast they just didn't bother taking out any of the debug stuff lol. Its also why you re-fight bosses twice. Fuck face the bot steeling person for instance: just filler to make capcom happy. proto, or break or what ever the fuck face is? samething.
I’m glad the scrapped forest fire gimmick later got implemented in Mega Man 7. I believe the orange color palette was also used in the fangame Quint’s Revenge, as were the Met dispensers. There’s also a hack of Mega Man 3 that reimplements a lot of the cut elements.
I have died a mega ton of times in that game

I think "Sound ID 22" was intended to play when the player is crushed under metal crushers stuff in Metal Man stage.
The "Sound ID 33" maybe was supposed to play when the player will receive damage from bats or Wood Man's leaf shield.
The "Sound ID 40" maybe was intended to play when the player falls into the lava in Heat Man's stage or just lava sounds as a little detail to decorate the atmosphere of a hot maze.
3:00 Oh boy Megaman 11...
3:21 This appear in the fan game:
Quint's Revenge.
4:32 I don't know why but that theme
sounds familiar somehow
It is protomans theme song
9:02 Dude is that mister kill
You should tackle the X Series next
Pretty sure Wily and Cossack are arguing.
Wily: How many times must I tell you?! Your Vodka Machine can’t defeat Mega Man!
Wily: Toad Man?!?! Your "combat robots" are impractical, Cossack!
Cossack: SAYS THE ONE WHO BUILT A BUBBLE MAN!
You missed some stuff from 2 and 3. In MM2, The Wily Levels (in corrupt form) are beyond the Robot Masters Rooms and in MM3,Break Man's stage is beyond Hard Man's lair.
It would be amazing to see every Mega Man game covered in this fashion, including the fan made games like Mega Man Unlimited. Yup, that's a hard one, ooof. lolz
4:04 the fan-game Mega Man Rock Force used that sound for the SawSun/SawChip/SawClown enemy.
1:10 is it just me or is the old man sprite giving us all the middle finger?
Yeah
1:33 ya no that last sprite is the middle finger
The thing with lighting the forest on fire with fire-based weapons would be reused in later games, like Mega Man 7 and Mega Man Zero 2.
2:53 I thought these would be used for different seasons. (Spring and fall)
Have been waiting for this for months! Glad it came!
Hope you enjoy it!
3:08 That would explain why MM7 did something simmilar years later.
1:43 Mega Man wants to be on a Spelunky level
Woah!!! I love the Mega Man series to death, and (even though I haven’t finished the video yet) you made a great video on it! Keep up the good work!
Haha thanks! Hope you enjoy!
Hi
Cool vid. Love you played Tomahawk Man stage in the backgroundz
IVE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS VIDEO SINCE I SAW LOST BITS FOR THE FIRST TIME! also my favorite nes mega man games were 2nd and 3rd ones
Hope it was worth the wait xD
Excellent and informative video! Thanks!
Love to see as much megaman as possible !!!
Have a LOST BITS video of Pikmin

Boom! Love Mega Man! Thanks for doing this
Thanks for watching!
The sphinx miniboss was slightly reimagined and used in rockman world 5 for the gameboy in Uranus' stage
Most of the unused bits in Mega Man 3 were probably meant to flesh out the story more (Mega Man 3 was very deficient in that department).
1:26 I think Dr. Light in Mega Man 3's cutscenes had red pants, so may red was the intended color in the first place and it had to be changed later?
2:39 Sound Bit 33 sounds like the Top Spin sound effect in Mega Man 3, so this seems to have been saved and reused there.
8:37 The miniboss might've been meant to block the path to the Balloon item in Pharaoh Man's stage. Probably removed for space reasons.
8:57 Early version of the shootable platform the hippo mini-bosses of Ring Man stage stand on?
9:21 I'm sure that this would've been part of an earlier version of Mega Man 4's story, but it was changed so that the only cutscene where both docs were on-screen at the same time (the "reveal") had Wily and Cossack on different ground levels so the sprite couldn't be used at all. Maybe Kalinka was placed where Wily was originally intended to go in that scene?
That makes sense to me
I'm not even a big fan of Megaman and I found this really interesting
Then again, basically anything doing with scrapped things in videogames is interesting all by itself
Good work on this one though, Tetra :D
the guts man rebound thing was for a fall damage mechanic.
Yeah...that's the same animation as when you get dick punched by him lol.
@TetraBitGaming There’s actually video footage of a unfound Mega Man 4 Prototype cart, which includes the sphinx miniboss, plus various unused items and altered level designs. It’s crazy they scrapped this stuff so late in development when they finished the code for it.
Mega f a- ok that joke is out of date
Great Video!
B I N G B I N G W A H O O .
The credits theme from MM3 actually contains even more unused audio.
I seem to recall that the Legacy Collection's music player features the track in its entirety.
Mega Man? You mean that one dude who owns Pikachu and fights Bowser?
That's the one!
Lol
Love your Lost Bits videos!
Thanks!
No prob! It is greatly appreciated on my support and your support.
If I had to guess, Copy Robot Being able to Jump is likely a leftover from Elec Man's behavior since it was recycled in order to save space.
That would make sense !
That intro was... just epic!
You can make it a lost bit whit Earthbound0/Earthbound beginning/Mother1?
boi it's only called Mother
B I N G B I N G W A H O O .
Big game bro
Finally you made a megaman lost bit :)
11:40 I INSTANTLY THOUGHT ABOUT PIRANNHA PLANT
8:34 that mini-boss was actually in Uranus’s stage in Mega Man V for the Gameboy!
About time you do it
This March 7 is the 30th anniversary of Capcom's Strider series...so maybe consider one for that? I don't think anyone has ever done anything about lost content in that game/series, although maybe there's just nothing or very little? Anyway, wonderful series! Best of luck!
How did I not know this video existed until now?
9:03 Am I the only one here who looks at the 2 on the top right and thinks of the original Blastermaster game?
No.
6:03 S P O I L E R A L E R T
Nice video. It would be neat to see a MegamanX lost bits
Great video !!! Just wondering have you done a castlevania lost bits?
Thanks! And no, not yet!
Fun fact: the met dispenser in MM2 was used in the Quint's Revenge fangame in Clash Man's stage. Not sure if it appeared in MM2 Gameboy or not...
Love your vids!!!!
When megaman falls and bounces it’s like sonic bumping into a wall and bouncing back
Hey TB it's been a while, glad to hear u still fascinated with the battle network music
Some of my favourite music !
My favorite (although it was never officially released for the us) is the mmbn operate shooting star main theme
Nice vid tetra!
Thanks !
The backwards Mega man 3 sprite might have been a cut scene of mega man watching Wily's castle explode
Skate 3 (X-Box 360 & PS3) lost bits please. I love your channel and your content been watching for about a year. keep up the good work. =-)
Yay another tetrabit video
I imagine since Copy Robot reuses Elec Man’s AI his trigger to jump when he runs into things comes from him.
You guys should know that there are so many good hacks and fangames of megaman out there. You should all try them! they are both amazing and full of creativity!
I certainly enjoyed the Sound Test in Kirby's Dream Land for the original Game Boy.
No, I never beat the Hard Mode of the game, I just saw the way to unlock the hard mode, and I guessed.
Mega Man 3's Magnet Missile Turing sprite was used in Mega Man The Wily Wars.
OH BOI, IT'SA MEGA MAN!!!!

Can you do a Super Mario Bros 3 Lost Bits?
Heck yeah a rock man/mega man episode! :D
B I N G B I N G W A H O O .
In mega Man 3 he left out that if you pause right right as protomans theme starts you can here his theme in it's entirety
4:30 I'm sure that was used in the wily wars for the genesis
Wily *kidnaps cossack daughter and forces him to become a international criminal or else her daughter dies*
Tetrabit: And here we see Wily and Cossack laughing togheter
the code/sprite you mention in megaman 1 (being stunned by gutsman) is a leftover in megaman 2, it happens randomly when you get hit by some enemies yet is obvios that guts man doesn´t appear in megaman 2...
The 2nd sound bit was later reused, I think! The 2nd one is Top Spin's sound effect, and the 3rd one I think is a Zelda sound effect.
4:35 that part was used in mobile version of the game!
5:00 that too in the mobile version.
Dude. Dr. Light is CLEARLY flipping us off.
That Megaman 1 cover art still gives me nightmares
sound 22 soundly like it beling in the intro music to the willy fortress
Yes. After all these years...I finally have them all.
*PLANT BOI, MINI PLANT BOI, AND PLANT MAN!!!*
4:49 it says Dr. Right
The credits secret in mega man 3 is a longer version of (protoman?)'s whistle.
That Sphinx boss looks like that one boss from Sonic & Knuckles
0:30 *>tfw no volnutt :(*
I believe those met generators were used in "megaman in the lime light" fan game
