Upgrade to 35 on the windshield. I had 35 on the windshield and 15 all around on a Scion tC and you couldn't see anything but basic shapes at the most unless the sunroof was uncovered or the windshield was facing towards the sun/bright part of a cloudy sky. Before you say "That's still not enough," just remember that your truck has the extra advantage of being tall and therefore harder to look into, anyway. Also, most trucks come with bare glass on the rear and rear sides that's already 20-25%, so when you add 15 to it, it becomes 15% OF 20-25%, which is 3-4%. If you wanted the rears to match the 15% front perfectly, you'd have to put 70% on them, or you could've put 50% on the rears to get them a bit darker without being the ridiculous 3-4%. *EDIT:* Seems you already knew about the privacy glass, nice. I still recommend 35/15, and if you want to, consider darkening the sunroof with ceramic, as well. I stupidly put 15% on my tC's sunroof and couldn't see shit out of it at night(I still wanted to see the night sky/stars), so watch out for that. I'd probably do the sunroof either 35, 50, or even 70 nowadays. A hidden benefit is that the lighter you do the sunroof, the more you can fool the cops if you leave the shade open while riding down the road during the day.
Good tip on the sunroof cause I’m actually considering tinting my sunroof and was going to do 20%. But I think I may do 35% or 50 maybe. Probably 35. But I’m still more than likely going to do 5% all around and maybe 35 on the shield.
@@TFBJFord If you're going that dark, then I definitely recommend the 50 on the sunroof. At least the front section, and you can do the back at 35 to keep the theme of "back row is darker" since there you'll still have 15 on 20/25 (effectively) and it's like 4% total.
Great video! i had 15% on my front windows then switched to 5% had it for about 10 months i loved the 5% during the day but at night it was hard to see you could still see a bit but it was sketchy so i had to keep rolling down the windows at round about and corners. Also want to mention that the 5% i had wasn't ceramic so it was harder to see out and the tint was dyed Charcoal. Eventually got over rolling down the windows and went back to 15% today this time ceramic.
@@llmcmuffll8254 yes 15% is good at night in my opinion i just went back to 15 ceramic from 5%. 5% is where the privacy is at 15% you can still sort of see inside during the day but at night you can't see much inside and can still see fine looking out.
Man, back in the day I did 5% on the front door windows and doubled in on all the windows.. WUT THE FUK WAS I THINKING!! I just turned 52 last week and think back on chit I did in my hay maker days..😳🤣👊🏻
15% or 20% is perfect for me. I rock 15% on my front windows of my Ram 1500. But this is Florida we're talking about. My old ram 1500 had 5% and I couldn't see crap backing up at night. Had to roll the windows down sometimes just to see.
5% and 15% are damn near the same both of those aren’t enough for me tho especially on a sunny day you can definitely still see through 5% i started going with a 5 percent OVER 15 percent for that completely blacked out look it’s def my go to now 🙌🏽
I always 5% all around. I’m probably just use to seeing out the tints by now. I’m considering tinting my windshield on my next car just not sure what percent on it cops so iffy here
Go 50% I did 5% all around and 35 on my windshield and it’s just a tad too hard to see out of at night. During the day it’s perfect tho. I loveeee dark tint but if you do a lot of night driving definitely reccomend getting 50% windshield maybe throw a 5% brow at the top to block the sun.
You gotta find the safe and aesthetic medium. IMO anything lower than 20% especially with a dark interior and no pano roof is too dark. Then add bad weather and night time driving. That damn tint becomes a safety issue.
5% all around is the ONLY WAY down here in FL 💯💯🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥💨💨💨💨… u can see thru it now and it’s not even sunny .. I could only imagine when it’s sunny 😂😂 like riding in a fish bowl 😂🤦🏽♂️
I would do 5 and then 20 on the windshield. you'll get that mean murdered out look. 35 will still be a bit see through in direct sunlight, speaking from experience.
I like 15/10% when i put 5 on my rear windshield i think the rearview mirror was dim cuz the only thing i could see was headlights of cars. Also put 5 on the front doors and at night was tough to see road lines/curbs
I have 20 on top of the 20 factory on the back windows so like 5%. 15 on the front. I actually started with 15 on the front, went to 5, and back to 15 lol. I couldn’t see anything at night even with street lights. IMO, I’d stick with 15 on the front and get 35 on the windshield to darken it more.
You still like this set up? I’ve got ceramic 20 on the back doors and 40 on the windshield. I’m either getting 5 or 15 on the front doors next week. I’m leaning towards 15 because I remember having 5 before and it was definitely hard to see out of but it wasn’t ceramic. The 25 ceramic I have right now does not impair my vision even at night backing a trailer but it’s not enough privacy.
5s and 35 shield a slightly see through during day but doable at night very rainy nights and backroads give you some trouble. I think driver experience and how well you know your car are big factors however to darker tints n less light.
I agree. I feel like even rainy nights and backroads will give you trouble no matter the tint. Idk what’s on my other car but it’s very light All around and no tint on windshield and I have trouble seeing out of that at night. But I agree with you driver experience and how well you know your car helps!
I like 35% tint. That smoked look. Just enough privacy to keep people guessing. Sometimes depending on the vehicle color 5% can take away from the look of the car.
35 is good for driver and passenger and doesn't attract cops while doing a fair bit of sun protection. I think it's pretty bright not smoky unless it's afternoon. I'd go 5% on the rear ones tho😇 love the contrast
You have to do the windshield some kind of tint to enjoy your side tints. I just did 15 percent and its fine, but the WS has nothing. I may do 60 percent WS
@@TFBJFord I have 35% all around in another car and compared to my 15% it was a big waste of money cause it barely helps. These kinds of video straight up telling people to not waste money on light tints is what is up.

If you want your 15%/20% (they're pretty much the same) to appear darker, you should go 35% windshield and make the interior black, you won't be able to see in unless there's direct light coming from the windshield
Can’t decide ! my boy just got 50 on the windshield which in the day looks completely visible so i’m gonna get 35 for sure. But he also got 20% on front and i want mine to be darker. I’m getting ceramics so im not to bothered but i just don’t know if i should get 15 or 5. You will get use to 15. If you want it to Look blacked out during the day I’d go 5. Because 15 in the front is pretty visible and can see right through it when you walk up on it. But From distance and cloudy/rainy days It looks dark though. If I was to do it all over I would go 5 and 35 or leave 15 percent and 20 percent on the windshield

I’ve had 14.5% ceramic on all my windows for 2.5 years, if it’s good quality tint there’s literally a negligible difference in visibility on the inside
5% tenant windows, 20% tenant windows 35% tinted windows. There are a lot of choices but you gotta be careful if you get something dark on your car watch those back roads totally pitch black you have a lot of blind spots.

Could just tint the windshield darker and see from there, I had 35% on my car because cops love pulling people over for tint and when it was nice outside and I had to drive in my town I put my sunroof down and let all the light in and my car didn’t even look tinted lol. Less light inside the vehicle the darker the tint appears. Might be screwing yourself getting a darker windshield plus darker tint.

15% looks great on the 2 front windows and like you said it gives you better night visibility. I know what you mean about the privacy tho. If only we could get the same visibility at night with the 5% tints 🫤, but unfortunately it doesn’t work that way.
Yeah I can understand that for sure. I have roll mine down now sometimes on certain roads.
Is 15 good at night, I have 5 ceramic and I’m worried about driving at night. It’s hard to see in my opinion.
@@llmcmuffll8254 yes 15% is good at night in my opinion i just went back to 15 ceramic from 5%. 5% is where the privacy is at 15% you can still sort of see inside during the day but at night you can't see much inside and can still see fine looking out.
@@michaeljames_ I appreciate the reply, gonna get mine redone in 15 for the driver and pass’s get window at least
@@llmcmuffll8254 no problem whatever you're more comfortable driving with. My current set up is 15% front two windows and 5% rears and sun strip.
Man, back in the day I did 5% on the front door windows and doubled in on all the windows.. WUT THE FUK WAS I THINKING!! I just turned 52 last week and think back on chit I did in my hay maker days..😳🤣👊🏻
🤣🤣🤣 yeah that was insane
15% or 20% is perfect for me. I rock 15% on my front windows of my Ram 1500. But this is Florida we're talking about. My old ram 1500 had 5% and I couldn't see crap backing up at night. Had to roll the windows down sometimes just to see.
Niceee!! I like 15. Except on very sunny days
5% and 15% are damn near the same both of those aren’t enough for me tho especially on a sunny day you can definitely still see through 5% i started going with a 5 percent OVER 15 percent for that completely blacked out look it’s def my go to now 🙌🏽
Yeah that’s dark as hell I bet lol
u were right bro, i shoulda got 50
on the windshield . That 70 helped alot with the heat fasho , but some shade woulda been clutch as well.
I think it’s great. Thanks for the video. Just got mine done
Awesome man ! Thanks !
I got double 5 on everything and 20 on the shield w a 10” strip. At night the sides does suck if I’m not in town but during the day it’s perfect.
Yeah that’s my only concern with 5% is at night.
I always 5% all around. I’m probably just use to seeing out the tints by now. I’m considering tinting my windshield on my next car just not sure what percent on it cops so iffy here
50% is a good happy Medium. Not too noticeable especially on a sunny day
Go 50% I did 5% all around and 35 on my windshield and it’s just a tad too hard to see out of at night.
Yeah i got pano roof. but I still think 15 is too light. even at night you can see through it sometimes
5% all around is the ONLY WAY down here in FL 💯💯🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥💨💨💨💨… u can see thru it now and it’s not even sunny .. I could only imagine when it’s sunny 😂😂 like riding in a fish bowl 😂🤦🏽♂️
facts
I would do 5 and then 20 on the windshield. you'll get that mean murdered out look. 35 will still be a bit see through in direct sunlight, speaking from experience.
I might go. My brother have 10 and 20 on the shield on his truck and it looks real good
Isn't that illegal? Even if you didn't care, it'd be super obvious and you'd make your car a cop magnet
I like 15/10% when i put 5 on my rear windshield i think the rearview mirror was dim cuz the only thing i could see was headlights of cars. Also put 5 on the front doors and at night was tough to see road lines/curbs
I can see that. But hell I have hard time seeing the lines with 15% at night. Especially on dark roads.
50% on my windshield 5% on my sides and double 5% on my back window.
That sound like the perfect set up.
Love this here, great job your ..5.0 150. Love my 2010 150 4.6 3V baby! Zero issues with her lift is 2.5 level with 35 Fakkon muds.
Appreciate it man! And it sounds like you have a nice set up as well
I have 20 on top of the 20 factory on the back windows so like 5%. 15 on the front. I actually started with 15 on the front, went to 5, and back to 15 lol. I couldn’t see anything at night even with street lights. IMO, I’d stick with 15 on the front and get 35 on the windshield to darken it more.
Yea I was thinking that but I prlly will just do 5% tbh i dont think it would darken it as much as I would like.
I think 5% makes every truck look good to me lol. But yeah I agree with 35%
35 is good for driver and passenger and doesn't attract cops while doing a fair bit of sun protection.
50% is a great start. really not noticeable on the inside.
@@TFBJFord I have 35% all around in another car and compared to my 15% it was a big waste of money cause it barely helps. These kinds of video straight up telling people to not waste money on light tints is what is up.
I’ve got the same setup with 15% on the front sides and 50% on the windshield and a 5 percent brow 2 inches below the as1 line. May go 5% on the front sides next time, for now it’s good enough.
I'm thinking about going 5% all the way around and 30% in front windshield for my truck.
That’s what Im going to do when I redo my tint
I'm in the same boat as you. I bought my first truck in October and did 15 the same exact tint setup as you did on yours and I hate it. I'm definitely going to peel it off and do 5% after the holidays. I'm in South Florida and even in December it's in the 80s and the sun is properly bright out here.
Yeah you definitely need 5 in Florida lol
@@TFBJFord yeah I'm going to remove the 50% on the windshield and replace it with 20% and 5% all around.

The rest is 5% back and rear . And 50% ceramic upfront... If you want that fark look then go for 35% windshield up front. 35% rear and back. And not mess with your front windows. Yeah I got 15 and you can still see through it easily kinda sad
I got 5% all around and 30% on my front windshield. Not going to lie the only thing I hate when it rains I can’t see crap! So I had to buy them legal morimoto amber lights as fog lights to be able to see lol
damn lol i could definitely see myself having issues in the rain. Because I have issues now 🤣
Thats what i have on my car that 15% and on sunny days at certain angles you can see my silhouette and i hate i didnt go darker
Are you going to go darker ?
If you want your 15%/20% (they're pretty much the same) to appear darker, you should go 35% windshield and make the interior black, you won't be able to see in unless there's direct light coming from the windshield
Can’t decide ! my boy just got 50 on the windshield which in the day looks completely visible so i’m gonna get 35 for sure. But he also got 20% on front and i want mine to be darker. I’m getting ceramics so im not to bothered but i just don’t know if i should get 15 or 5. I also feel like it’d be the same likely hood of getting pulled over for 5 as it would for 15. i just don’t know and my appointment is thursday 😂.
You will get use to 15. If you want it to
Look blacked out during the day I’d go 5. Because 15 in the front is pretty visible and can see right through it when you walk up on it. But From distance and cloudy/rainy days It looks dark though. If I was to do it all over I would go 5 and 35 or leave 15 percent and 20 percent on the windshield
i have 5 on top of tint so it reads as 1 on a reader and thats all around and 45 on the windshield all ceramic too and at night windows have to go down bc its hard to see out
Damnn. That’s my only concern is at night.
Should have done 15 percent all around.. and then front windshield 50 percent.. looks dope and u wont get pulled over by cops
I have same body truck, platinum. I got 5% all around and 35 shield. I thought it was took light for some reason, was thinking maybe it was the brand tint they used but it reads 5 on meter. I went get another layer of 5 and it was like spray painting my windows black. I peeled one layer off and I’m back to just 5, I never realized how perfect 5 is though. Guess my eyes used to it. I’ve had 5 on all my trucks
Damn I can’t imagine another layer of. 5% 🤣 yeah im definitely going back to get 5%. I’m thinking about leaving my back side windows as they are tbough since it’s practically at about 5% with the factory privacy glass. Still not all the way sure though
