The Animals album as a whole is by far my favorite Pink Floyd! This song hits me different every time but I always have a tear or two when I listen to this album

Gilmour’s angry, fk you, steamrolling guitar solo at the end is unmatched. It knocks you over like an explosion. Along with Roger’s rolling baseline.

In my younger days Dark Side of the Moon was my favorite PF album. As I get older, Animals gets real way too quickly. Gotta love the realness! Thanks for the react!

Unique band
Of the 3 major songs in this album, this one is my favorite due to the incredible guitar playing Gilmore does. It chokes me up every time I hear it and I wish the ending could have gone on a little longer because he's still shedding the shit out of that guitar to the last second.
I guarantee David has that ending audio somewhere. Probably goes on another couple minutes I’m betting. He’ll probably share it one day. He’s good at that
I think all members do their best work on this album. I feel like ANIMALS is Floyd at their musical best, honestly. Though, I think Gilmour is best on "Dogs"... ;)

I think I broke my CD player listening to this album on repeat. Loving the Pink Floyd reactions! If you want to go totally different next, travel over to Japan to check out some of the bands there! Some truly amazing stuff coming out of there. The all female bands of Band-Maid, Trident, Gacharic Spin. or the mix of rock and traditional music with Wagakki Band and Band-Maiko.

This is a great Pink Floyd song. I like the whole album, but this is my favorite song on this album. One of the rock bands that I used to play in, we would play some Pink Floyd songs, and this was one of the ones that we would play. People used to go crazy when we would play this one.

did u know that David Gilmour was the 1st & only band to have performed a live show in pompeii in the last 2000 years 😳
almost right, the 1st time was at 1971 in front of no crowd (except for a small group of school kids who sneaked in ) it was the whole band of pink floyd not just guitarist gilmour, the next was at gilmour as a solo artist 2016 in front of a crowd playing pink floyd music and his own solo stuff,

I know this is late, but a little known, or seldom mentioned fact is, David Gilmour played both guitar tracks AND the bass on this song, along with the voice box. Roger Waters contributed his awesome vocals and some acoustic guitar. This song is David's tour-de-force, and yet, for unknown reasons to me, he chose Comfortably Numb as his epic solo live post Waters. Opportunity lost as far as I'm concerned, but I'm sure he has his reasons. I'm grateful for anything Dave gave us minor humans. lol

Waters talking about society from three different views. The pig- business. The old hag in the second verse was a homeless person, according to Waters. Mary Whitehouse was a moralist from the 70s, trying to keep our feelings off the street. That is my understanding anyway.
I believe the first pig is referring to James Callaghan who was the Prime Minister at the time and who was into mining. The second I read was Margaret Thatcher who was the leader of the conservative party and later the PM and the third Mary Whitehouse.
