This album is sometimes overlooked because THE WALL got so much attention . But everything the band did in the 1970's is one complex , mind bending saga . The Floyd have no serious rivals for this kind of work , because they invented it .

Saw Roger Waters a few years ago and he played this ,"Pigs" & 'Dogs" - it was the most magical 25 mins of live concert I have ever seen !!! So fun to watch you experience this stuff, thank you for sharing w us !!!
I went to that concert twice, once in Brooklyn and another in Sweden. It was by far the best concert I have ever seen.

I saw the “Us and Them” Roger Waters concert in September of 2017. They played an excellent variety of songs from five different Pink Floyd albums. They ended the show with “Mother” or was one of the best concerts I’ve been to! CC

Love how the music goes back and fourth from peaceful to more tenuous. Like the “sheep” keep ignoring the threat, but the threat is always there and returns to break the peacefulness.

I first heard this song on my 8 track car stereo system with my friends down in the cut. It wasn't until years later when I bought the album (with liner notes) and I read along with the barely audible "lord's prayer" that I fully understood this song. The sheep finally fight back having learned the "fine art of karate" (British humour). So listen again and you will see in your minds eye the victory march "wave upon wave of demented avengers march cheerfully out of obscurity and into the dream..." A Powerfully poetic and musical synergy.

Just saw Roger Waters last week in KC. SHEEP was awesome, probably the best performed song he did, but it's hard because Shione on You Crazy Diamond was great too, and most of the other songs. At 78 yrs old he still has it.

Pink Floyd is my favourite band of all time ever. I really don’t like Led Zeppelin. I can’t make my mind up who to blame for the Hair Guitar genre. Between Led Zeppelin & Van Halen.

But here’s the thing ma’am - I don’t think you enjoyed it at all. Your face was pained at times and expressionless at others. Maybe it’s a cultural thing as this is one of the finest rock bands of England. But you looked rather lost. Dazed & confused if you will. And that’s what I took away from watching you.

Can I recommend a pretty Pink Floyd song. Just want to change it up from there “crazier” and heavier stuff. This shows their diversity. It’s called GREEN IS THE COLOUR from 1969. Very different from this song.

I was surprised you had zero reaction to the lyrics when he does the reworked lord's prayer. go back and read that part. (Edit) I see you didn't watch the lyric video now. you should read the lyrics. The songs on this record (showing my age) were all inspired by George Orwell's book Animal farm.

when listening to the songs i recommend listening to a video that shows the lyrics so you can appreciate what the song is about - this is especially important to the pink floyd song DOGS - musically it sounds ok, but the power is in the lyrics.
this song is about people deemed as sheep - unquestioning, weak and submissive. based loosely off of the animal farms book by george orwell.
So THAT's why so many female reactors forgo the headphones, in spite of the quality diff; glad you struggled successfully thru it!

As it is allmost allways the case with Pink Floyd, Roger Waters and David Gilmour, create a narrative wich is told through the whole album wich is less obvious if you are listening only one song of that album, so you wanna get the full experience, listen to full album and then react to it. But happy to see that Pink Floyd is still being discovered today.
