    Beretta cannot win. They are very transparent that this pistol was designed by Beretta but subcontracted to Uramex for production. It is a Beretta, included in their catalogue, and they service and provide support. If Beretta had chose to manufacture in one of their factories - price would be double and people would still be whining. It is what it is, it’s a licensed replica of their M9 to serve as a training pistol. Kind of funny people saying they’ll just purchase the conversion kit which retails at $340. Big surprise - also manufactured by Uramex for Beretta. Thanks Sootch00 for excellent review and just ordered the M9A1 to go with my M9 and LTT Elite.

    I have one of these and love it. However the slide on mine is not aluminum, it appears to be pot metal. Having said that, whatever it is made of appears to be strong enough and I have over 2,000 trouble free rounds through mine. I am really surprised this gun isn’t more popular, it’s really an awesome .22.

    I have both the .22 and the 9mm. I shot a perfect score, 250 on the Texas TLC qualification course with the .22 on Wednesday. I went back Friday and also shot a 250 with my 9mm. I absolutely love both. Each has about a thousand rounds through them and I’ve had zero failures for either. My only complaint is that they are too large for easy concealed carry. Sooo. Home defense and snake killing if necessary when I’m out in the woods.

    • @308hit
      @308hit 3 года назад +7

      @@anamariacarmona2208 there are those from the tacticool camp that will tell you not unless you have a 45 ACP or a 44 Magnum for self-defense you're an idiot. But if all you have is a 22 long rifle pistol it's better than harsh words or throwing marshmallows.
      One of the unique aspects of the 22 long rifle is what it does inside the human body it loves to ricochet off of bones. I remember reading a police shooting report where the officer and the bad guy were literally shooting at each other over the top of the bad guy's car. The bad guy was eventually stopped and arrested but he was shooting at the officer with a 22 long rifle pistol... the officer got shot in his left elbow the little 22 traveled up his arm to his shoulder blade ricocheted off his shoulder blade went across through his neck and exited below his right ear.
      The surgeon said by millimeters it just missed his arteries in his neck and if it clipped one he would be dead.
      What's more important than caliber is that you Ana train and learn how to shoot the gun well right-handed and left-handed how to reload quickly and learn how to field strip it and put it back together.
      One of my trainers from back in the mid-eighties once told me this..."beware of the man who carries one gun as he knows how to use it"... Be well and train hard.

      @@anamariacarmona2208 Getting shot by a 22LR is never going to be fun and it can certainly be debilitating and lethal, though generally it doesn't have nearly the stopping power of a 9mm or a 380. Another thing to consider is that the 22LR rimfire round is not going to be quite as reliable as a centerfire cartridge. So is a 22LR a good self defense gun, well it could be in the hands of an experienced shooter who can place the round(s) in strategic areas, but if not, then all a couple of rounds of 22LR are likely to do is anger the aggressor more and not necessarily stop him in his tracks. An aggressor could still get to you and do you in. With a more powerful round like a 9mm/380 hitting someone with a couple of rounds has a much higher probability of stopping them in their tracks before they can get to you. If all I had was a 22 then I'd make do with it, but you would do better with a 9mm/380 for personal defense.
      If you're concerned about hand strength and/or recoil, then check out the S&W M&P Shield 380 EZ which is very easy to rack and fires with very controllable recoil and is extremely reliable. If you can get to a range where they have one to rent, then check it out and also note that if it is a range rental then it means it will have had thousands of rounds through it from an unknown number of shooters and still has managed to maintain its reliability.

    • @SailorSam41
      @SailorSam41 3 года назад +2

      @@anamariacarmona2208 Regardless of what others say, the 22 cartridge was DESIGNED for self defense. That was the 22 short. Carrying 22lr is kind of overdoing it a bit, but we'll forgive you.
      I can carry any caliber Used to carry a 9mm till I fired it with no protection and realized the damage it was doing to my ears. Since I don't have ear protection with me in case of a confrontation, I carry an SR22 with CCI stingers. And I feel well protected.

    Beretta really nailed the design of this 22 pistol perfectly. I have both the M9-22 and 92FSR-22(suppressor ready with high sights and threaded barrel) models. Irregardless if you have the centerfire 92, these are awesome 22 handguns period. Very accurate, high capacity, and unbelievably reliable even with bulk ammo. This is also one of the best 22RF suppressor hosts available. Also since it is dimensionally the same as the model 92 centerfire, holsters, sights and grip choices are all widely available.

    Great review sootch00! One thing I'd like to see though is how well these guns shoot with cheaper ammo like Federal, Aguila, Remington, Winchester. That and what did you think about the accuracy?
    With that said the one thing I don't want to happen when shooting is an accidental discharge so I'm a big fan of single action double action pistols with a decocker. I really like that feature on this pistol and The Beretta M9 .22 will be getting a second consideration as my first pistol.

    I have this firearm with a 5.3" threaded barrel from the factory, as well as higher sights to clear an installed supressor. It's model 92 FSR-22. I paid $355 shipped to my FFL 2 years ago. Hogue rubber grips (Amazon) with finger grooves for the 92-FS 9mm also fit this 22. Much better than the factory grips for large hands. Mine came with a "faux" supressor, which I think is a bit silly. I would never use it as I'm not a kid playing cops & robbers. In conclusion, a great gun & I'm glad I got it.

I wish Beretta would make the 22lr copy of the old 84F Cheeta. For me the 92 is too large of a gun for concealed carry. The 84F is a perfect size. I know for a fact that the safety de-cocker fails on these pistols after so many uses. Not with the 9mm or the 40cal but in these 22lr the safety de-cocker does have issue.
    Now it can be changed out and then the pistol will be back to normal but that’s a serious issue for me. I feel the 22 compact Smith & Wesson or the Ruger Mark 4 22lr would be a better choice for a good reliable 22 pistol.
    But on the positive side if that issue doesn’t bother a person from what I understand this is a very accurate 22 and could be a serious favorite.

      @@BootsOfNomad Well hello there. I guess yours finally broke. Just call Beretta they’ll get you one sent out. Your pistol should be under warranty but I do warn you though that there is a lot of work to changing one of those out. Lots of little parts. If you’re not fully confident doing it right ask Beretta to send you the parts and then have a guns smith change it out or send the whole pistol back to Beretta and just have them do the work and send it back to you fixed.

    I had the Sig Mosquito which was not the most reliable gun, but I worked on it and got it working 100%. I put maybe 10,000 rounds though it and noticed the slide was starting to widen out where it met the rails on the frame. So it would sit on the gun loose. It used a zinc slide. Does anyone know what this slide is made of? Is it actually aluminum and if so is it 6160 or 7075?

    For the first round before you fire, recommend you pull the hammer back first then safety off and fire- makes the first round fired just the same as the rest. Having to pull the trigger harder without pulling the hammer back will throw your first round off

    Too bad replacement parts are no longer available for this pistol. Especially firing pins. If you have one just try to get rid of it since no firing pins available in the market as of today. And this gun likes to fracture firing pin, due to its design.

      You asked the question of questions! I sure wouldn't want to get shot by a .22LR! I know people that carry a .22. they know that they need to hit their target with a lot of rounds. Fortunately, there's so little recoil you can easily put all the rounds on target.
