Quick follow up vid I made to respond to a couple of critiques/ criticisms of my original video. As well as to clarify or better rephrase certain arguments I made in the original vid. Expect a new full video here coming up sometime here in December. Make sure to hit that muhfuckin circumscribe button and smash my nuts and lick my balls okay thanks bye seeya bye sayonara bye bye :DDD
I'm fine with TF2 having cosmetics. I just wish Valve added an option to turn off cosmetics client-side. Options to simplify/disable unusuals or only allow people to wear one cosmetic (I imagine it would be the one in the first slot or maybe only hats that stays) would also be nice.
Correlation is not causation, tf2 going f2p did not create the bots, a combination of mym and valves general neglect for the game, its possible to be free to play AND not have a cheating problem. Second point is totally and completely correct, tf2 never needed f2p and I don't think ever should have been f2p, but valve cant go back on their decision now unless they want to start focusing on the game again and start making monthly content updates or people will see it as mere corporate greed. That's a lot of uhhhhh. I understand trying to be careful about where you tread on that topic but you have a script for a reason. now I'm not so sure your reply to that one comment in the beginning is all too satire now lmao. Anyway rest of the vid is pretty fine though and honestly you should have been even harder on competitive and esports culture because that shit is deplorable. 15:40 GOD DAMNIT HE DID IT AGAIN NOOO MY EARS!
Appreciate the feedback! Although this follow up video was not scripted, just a loose series of notes I had. It's off the cuff. Apologies for the hearing damage.
eh, the part about not letting kids play anything they want isn't baseless, but the wording near the end made your point sound more like "kids can fuck off and play something else" than any kind of concern for their wellbeing. as a kid whose formative experiences consisted *solely* of these games, and knowing that I still play most of them, I think it's a fair bit more important to the later-stage lifecycle of online games, and even when you mention that you yourself are one of these people, you just immediately move on without acknowledging it any further. many great creators that contribute things like new gamemodes and maps, and mods, might not have had those formative experiences and grown up playing the game, if not for the explosive (and admittedly irritating) player counts that going free to play can give a game, especially earlier in it's lifespan. now, obviously I cannot give some mathematical proof for just how much this effects the longevity of a game, but it would be completely stupid to pretend that it does nothing at all. in retrospect this comment sounds very angry, and I cannot figure out why.
The biggest issue with your video was the fact it completely ignored the period between the F2P update and the Meet Your Match update where the game was largely fine, with no bot crisis and generally better cosmetics than the absolute quagmire of garbage that was added around 2019-2021, notably after the TF dev team disbanded around the Blue Moon update in 2018, the removal of Quickplay and it being replaced with Casual was what enabled bots to flood the game for years, the game would’ve been fine if Quickplay was left untouched in it’s final form, which Valve could’ve easily done by doing nothing to it. So really you should be blaming the failures of the Meet Your Match update for TF2’s woes for the years following, not the game going F2P
If TF2 was pay to play it wouldn't KILL the game but it would stop almost any new players for playing more than an hour and it would just make every single lobby full of a bunch of tryhards (also this video did not need to be almost 17 minutes you could have said everything in 5)

despite being late to everything this game ever experienced, i can kinda see what you mean and how you feel about TF2's state and i kind of agree
