Hi Del, it certainly does look much better. BUT, i noticed you using a pistol drill to grind the slots out?, SACRILAGE ................. Pistol drills do not have side impact loading bearings in them, and you can knacker them very quickly. I`m surprised you did`nt use a proper dedicated die grinder for that?. That`s not meant to sound like i`m trying to be hyper critical of what you`re doing, i love watching your vids, but i see so many people in my place of work using air pistol drills with grinding burr`s in them, then within a few years, they complain their drills are worn out, and say they`re rubbish quality. In reality, they`re using them for something they were never designed to do.
I hope you`re not annoyed with my post, i just thought it good advice to those who don`t have much knowledge of machine tools.
Love what you've done there Del - if you can find the same mesh though, I'd replace it with that if you really want to be picky! Looks like you're using the scrambler a decent amount from the amount of fly splat we saw haha!! But like you're message at the start said, they're for riding, not polishing and hiding away! Hope you and P are well mate - take it easy and ride safe!
Sure thing buddy, that mesh, turned out to be insanely hard to find, it needed to be stainless and 0.8mm gauge to match the factory stuff!... that's why as a temporary solution for now, I meshed it out with some anodised alloy mesh, double layered to bulk it up and just trapped it under the mounts, rather than bonding it in, so I can swop it over when I find some of the elusive stainless stuff!!
You could replace the factory with the new stuff also.
My thoughts;
Vice needs an overhaul. Lots of movement.
Holes done very well, but need to match the front for size, plus mesh needs to look the same.
What was the blue bike? Looks cool.
Did you not see, I traced the holes so they ARE identical!
@@Moonfleet41 Oh aye. Fair 'nuff. They looked smaller at the end of the video, but I guess they weren't 🤷🏽
@@daddylovesfaith As they said on Father Ted... 'small'... 'far away' !!
I think it would have looked better if you replaced the other two heatshield as well and made them, like the last bit, without the mesh. But that's just my opinion. Ride save 👍
Del, I think you need to address the mesh. Match them all in my opinion 👍
Have already explained mate... temporary
Great work. I have to say I would not ride that bike with the exhaust on my leg like that. That will cook your leg on a hot day. I'm good 🙂
Where's that air conditioner venting hot air to?
The comments section! 😊
You know you're a true custom customizer when you find yourself customizing your previous customizations, to really get that customized custom look. This is a custom for customization that I think is well needed in the custom bike circle.
Ah, see what you did there Tommy lol Thanks so much for your kind words, D&Px
Another great job Del. It definitely looks a lot better.
It looks perfectly fine. Great job, hope you are both well 😊
Just curious del. Why do u start up any bike b4 u free wheel back off the bike bench ?
I like any of the work u do on the bikes its all ways good.
And ur rite the slots in heatsheld look lots better than the plain way
Another great job, although uniformity of mesh between the three sections might improve the looks if I was being picky!
Yes, a lot more ethnically pleasing now and easy to clean, with not bonding the mesh behind it.
I recommend your channel to someone at Squires the other day, where I saw a Suzuki GSX1400 with a turbo fitted.
I told him about the similar one you had. Hopefully, we have another follower.
Thanks Mark, very kind of you, just sharing tips and tricks, which hope helps! Have a great week there, ride safe, D&Px
Agree the slots fit it in, but as others say, the mesh has to match ( sorry 😊 )
The mesh is temporary mate, I'm struggling to find the stuff the factory uses, but don't feel you have to apologise for your opinion.
Excellent job Del, It goes well with the other heat shield. Looks sweet mate, just like a bought one. Penny and you enjoy the last part of your week, take care. Cheers
Thank you mate, appreciate your kind words... you have a fantastic week yourself there, ride safe, D&Px
Nice one Del. It definitely looked incomplete before this little rework. It's always amazing how you can keep looking at something and saying to yourself it's not quite right. As always nice camera work Penny. Looking forward to your next instalment.
Thanks Steve 👍, glad you approve! Sometimes it's the finishing touches that make the job right!
I ride my bike and also keep it immaculately clean, after all I paid a lot of hard-earned money for it.
I don’t mind it… artist creationism…. Looks Kwel though…. Run cooler?? Since mufflers somewhat part insulated since I can’t tell. 👍
Wow, that was a labour of love. Credit to your patience making those holes. They say theres a sculpture in every block of marble, you just have to chip away until it appears!
Happy days buddy, peace and love to you and Pp. ✌️❤️
( btw, im back!)😊
Cheers buddy, and welcome back! Hope you're getting settled in the new place and new life... thanks for your wonderful support, as always, peas and loaf, D&Px
I wish you would have let me slot that with a solid carbide 3/8 End Mill. Cuts like butter. Once again you do good work by hand
Nice work there Del, I made a heat shield for one of my bikes out of a plate of aluminum all by hand, was very proud of the outcome, I told the wife, "It came out pretty good, I'm no Delboy, but I rather like the outcome". I see them spring tools are coming in handy from time to time, had to use the chisel one a few weeks ago, helped get a stubborn bolt to come loose. Worked great when no place to swing a hammer.
Thanks buddy, glad you're finding them useful too!... I found out recently that the fire brigade use them for rescuing trapped occupants in cars, who knew!
Hi, regarding the OEM exhaust of a 2020 XC, does removing the CAT hurts the engine? I have seen recommendations due to the heat.
Thanks!
Speak with TEC bike parts, they have all the development information and parts for what you're looking to do !
Love the series of mods on the Scrambler as I thinking seriously of buying one. You do great work.
Thanks Gary, glad you enjoy it.. hope you enjoy the bike.
Indeed, it looks better. Have a great weekend, Günter/Nürnberg (enjoying the current heat wave)
Thanks, you too, ride safe!
Looks awesome, Del! Loved the portable AC unit, too! 🏍👍🏍
You and me both, with a tin roof on the building, the place is cold in winter and hot in summer.. make it so much more enjoyable to work in.!
Nice symmetry Del, looks great. Hope all is well your way across the pond.
Thanks for noticing the editing buddy, it's more work than the filming itself, and it was a wonderful day, so had to get out and exploit it... after all a difficult year so far, and continuing health issues, sometimes we just need a bit of fresh air and sunshine! Hope you're keeping well too, always good to hear from you.
Looks good Del I was expecting you to tack that in place with your welder but that works just fine.
Cheers John..The mesh is anodised aluminium, so won't weld to steel.. i made it large enough to trap under the mounting screws so it's secure.. but i will keep a look out for the exact same stainless steel mesh as the front.. it's really fine, more like a kitchen sieve ! if i can find some, then ill fit it later and yeah.. just tack a couple of stainless steel strips over it to hold it in place like the factory have at the front. !
That's true, it's looking better now! Bravo Del!!!
Thank you Cedric, good to hear from you as always.
Looks like you're enjoying the Scrambler. 👌
Oh yeah, I sure am brother!
It is the details that make the job so much nicer.
Great job sir. Looks 100%. Can’t wait till you do a full restoration on a old British bike.
Love it! Love your shop setup and tools!
Thank you!
Your "Feng Shui" is strong Del.....
I think you almost got a tune out of that centre popping , lol
Looking a lot better del hope you and penny are ok aye 🤘
Thanks buddy, good to hear from you!
Hello, I don’t know if it’s out of context, anyway, what do you think about a low exhaust line? Greeting from Brittany 😊
I saw the Zard low line system, it did look very cool, but somehow didn't fit with the genre of a Scrambler.
I agree. I see it as a Bonneville on stilts and trail shoes😂
I’ll go fort the Spark or Mass moto
Aaw fck I leant that in grade 3 , never thought I'd need it, like maths n english n shit!
Looks a lot better Del ! Nice one !
Thanks Paul 👍
Mint. Excellent video and presentation of your brilliant skills 👍🏍👍🏍👍
Thank you! 👍
Those slots came out perfect Del. Looks like they were done with a chassis punch. It's one of those styling cues that I didn't know the bike needed until you put them in. You're a skilled craftsman with an artist's eye too. Rare combination indeed. Thanks to you and also the artist behind the lens.😁 Cheers and safe riding to you both.❤👍👍
That looks much better really like that. 👍
Thanks 👍
Brave move Del and agree it does match better now 👍
Looks great 👌👌👌👌
Hope you weren't using Penny's good shears.
Looking good, very in keeping 👍🏻
