My Cargo trailer camper was stolen earlier this year right out of my yard. Had all my camping stuff in it some of which I had since I was a kid. Major set back but plan to buy another early next year (Coming up in a couple of days!) My sons and I raced motocross and camped in it and wife and I traveled all over now that I've retired. Next one will have Lojak or something just it case.

The thing I think is the most genius about this is that it's the perfect amount of simple. I see lots of people take those cargo trailers and make them into more like an RV. But especially the way that you made the bed with those motorcycle tie downs is genius. Thanks for showing us this really awesome cargo trailer

The modular bed is amazing. Single person. Multi person. Plenty of space as a garage or for gear.
If I ever do a conversion I’d get a metal tool box with the drawers. I’d maybe want another window on the other side. Then of course shore power with an RV converter and an Air conditioner. Then add a cooking station outside with a mounted propane on the tongue.
And a poop bucket for emergencies.

That has got to be one of the cleanest cargo trailer adaptations I've ever seen that still retains it's normal function. Makes me wish I'd kept my 17' cargo trailer. Since I used it for motorcycle adventure trips, I made the dual beds that folded off the wall with the bikes out. For two men sleeping. Then I put in a kitchen and bathroom in the front V nose. I made a fold down table and just used fold up church chairs. I used a Buddy Heater, but that was before the diesel heaters became affordable.
If you get an old garage roll up door lift, you could build a bed lift system with a cheap 2000 lb 12 volt winch. The garage lift won't need the tension spings, just the brackets, cross tubes, and pully wheels. Mount the winch to the floor and run the cable to the door pully to raise and lower the big bed. A coule of pulleys to the corners of the bed and you're golden.

Co2 detector should be installed low close to the floor. It is heavier than air so any escaped Co2 will accumulate on the ground level.

    • @headdown1
      @headdown1 28 дней назад

Wrong. 5 ft off the floor is the recommended height for a CO2 detector. It is a propane detector that should be mounted within a few inches of the floor.

Hey, very nice job!! Really well organized. I like to go off grid. Lived off grid on my sailboat, spearing fish and Scuba, all through Caribbean and South and Central America. Could go fully independent for 6 months with no outside assistance.
Now in an older diesel motorhome. Want to convert to similar system with lithium. Maybe 300 AH. For full time plus solar. On the boat had solar and wind. The new modern components like the battery and electric manager/ controller is really nice. Now my interests not so much hunting as photography and Astronomy. Have a professional telescope and love the big sky country out west. Love your diesel heater too. Like the way you did it.
I have a propane heater but it really sucks the fuel. A gallon for all night in extreme weather sounds good to me we carry 110 gal of diesel. Going to self composting toilet to get away from black water issues.
Yes, keep you rig as incognito as possible don’t attract attention! Happy hunting!

.... i may have gotten lost in real life and missed the premiere, but I'm here now! I thought about investing in a trailer (back in summer 2021) but couldn't figure out how to set it up right... I guess I have a solution here! I definitely appreciate the bit about keeping the outside looking plain to avoid curious folk.
You can't ever be too careful. I just had a.... conversation... about that with my dad this week. He wanted me to put my bike away. I claimed it was safe enough up next to the house and cars. He let me make my own decision after explaining the dangers, and I begrudgingly put it away that night. I'm still pretty sure it wouldn't have been stolen, and he's very relieved that I put it away, but I'm glad my dad cares. :) And I'm glad other folks are more careful than my instincts suggest I be.
And yoooo - that description is POETRY!! In the best way!! I love that!

    • @OffGridAdventure

Sometimes it’s best to set conditions to keep honest people on the right path. You never know, a kid could walk by and borrow the bike temporarily, but leave it on the side of the road somewhere that you’ll never find it. Hiding in plain sight is another excellent way to prevent unwanted attention. Thanks again for sharing your thoughts. I hope you weren’t lost for too long.

Nice build simple yet functional. What did you use to cover the underneath of trailer? I'm building an 18 X 8.5 X 6.5 Diamond CT strictly for camping. Had an RV but the rear wall rotted off went back to camping in a Springbar 10 X 14 canvas tent. It was getting to much for me and the wife to set camp up and take down so I built the CTC. Building it the way I want it built.
