Your videos of Smokey are far more educational and fun to watch than any others that I can find on RUclips. In fact, there are many that clearly show how little the owner understands about their bird. Thank you for sharing your knowledge with the rest of us. I have an African Grey, a yellow naped Amazon and a sun conure. My grey can say “stick em up” with her wings stretched up when she sees something she really wants. She says “squirrel bird” when she sees one at the bird feeder. She made up that name. She also says “be quiet” when my Amazon is too loud. She learned the meaning from me saying it to my conure. They are so smart!!
My African Grey, Coco talks his head off in the mornings. He says "step up" when he wants me to picks him up. He also sings James Blunt's "You're beautiful, You're beautiful, that's what you are" along with calling the dog and the cat by name, Tigger and Caesar. When the cat approaches him cage he climbs down and hangs himself just above the cat's head and say "stop it"
I've got a Grey, too. She's more into sound effects, but does talk quite a bit. My nephew called her a 'stinkerbutt' once, and she's said it ever since. When she's feeling out of the loop, she'll say 'Hello' over and over until someone answers, then she'll say 'Good girl.', or 'Where's my good girl?'. When she was younger she used to sing '76 trombones lead the big parade...'. It degraded over the years, and replaced by other words and phrases, though, to '76 trombones...'. Now she just sings '76!'. lol
Smokey is such a character. My birds are so chatty also first thing in the morning. Zombie says an entire slew of things. One of the things he likes to imitate the FaceTime sound! My other bird Mango, he mimics noises hahahaha
Her vocabulary is amazing and I think it is wonderful that she is bilingual 😊. My Charlie is a cockatiel and only 9 months old so he mostly does a lot of vocalization. There is 1 that sounds a lot like "peek-a-boo" though so whenever I hear it I repeat the word back. And mornings are also very chatty but only after breakfast. Must take a lot of fuel to sing 😂
My Boy says "hello gorgeous" when I am looking made up and ready to go out! It's the only time he says it to me and wants to kiss me. He chats away and sings loads of songs and cleverly splices words together. He put together "born free" with "you'll never walk alone" and said "you'll never walk born free"! I only comforted myself with the fact that he's a rescue.
My africain grey Cooky, repeats words in his own ways sometimes, it's so funny, like he would say his name instead of just Cooky, he will say Coooooooooky🤣🤣🤣
I can imagine hearing that laugh at 3:00AM and it being terrifying haha
