    I watched the whole stream for the Antelope Valley, and it looks really REALLY well polished! It's great that they actually put some detail and care into the US route.

    In all honesty, I'd hand over the cash for TSW4 if the base game included an remastering of the Northern Trans Penine (Leeds to Manchester) route from the original game. Maybe the new editor will allow the modding community to realise the potential of this route.

    Though some of Dovetails' actions are transparently greedy and/or outright baffling, thanks for looking at some of the positives! You've convinced me to sub!
    Really looking forward to the PC editor; I got 95% of the way through modelling my favourite subway car (Toronto Canada's G-1 Gloucester, retired from service 1991) for MSTS about 18 years ago. I might start over in TSW4, particularly if I can find some reference photos of the undercarriage equipment.

    The main question really is 'why did this need to be a new game release and not just additions & DLC to TSW 3?'. I reckon I'd be safe in saying Dovetail's new overlords requested a new title release maybe each year since acquiring them, but previously the new games have come with upgrades to UE and/or more significant feature improvements. Why this couldn't just be a bundle offer of DLC for TSW 3 and a big patch upgrade, well, they can't guarantee people would buy the new DLC. That said, at least the bundles with the pre-order discounts are a pretty good deal for 3 routes less than the full price of a new DLC for the standard pack. I guess as the only route announced so far that I want is the Blackpool line I have to get TSW 4 at some point and I might as well make use of the pre-order bonus. It'd be nice if TSW 5/6/100 actually gets around to dropping gen 8 console support though...
    The new features are good and it'll be good to see what the community comes up with using the editor, hopefully this is the start of a wide range of content being available like TS Classic has, it's just a shame that the routes on offer are average at best, the ECML in particular which feels like they only selected it purely to package the Scotsman onto it and then drop HST & Class 91 DLC on us at a later date around Christmas

    I like Train Sim World 4 because I am a newcomer to Train Sim World even though that I don't like some of it new routes.

    Sadly for me the pros fail to live up to the cons. Even if all of the new features are implemented flawlessly (I don't know why some people think that they will be, Dovetail doesn't exactly have a good track record here) they're still not nearly enough for me to shove over my money. Loved the ambassador jab at the end, great to hear someone finally mention it. Such a nasty practice.

    I gotta say at first I was upset at with the launch of 4 but after seeing it I’m not as upset because 60 bucks for some new locos and routes isn’t too bad when they charge 35+ and you want the premium loco $$$ for a new route.

    In terms of ambassadors, I've get to see one who only talks about the good things about tsw. I've watched many streams from britishace and dadrail and they point out bugs where necessary. Other ambassadors I watched also point out the bad things.

    • @thetrainguy4
      @thetrainguy4  Год назад

      Sure, bugs, but they never really make any substantial criticism of the games. Just food for thought though that bit.

    Im probably just gonna wait until TSW5 in a year.. After that I’ll probably just buy their release every other year (if they keep up this yearly release trend) since it’ll mean that I can save money but still eventually get to enjoy the newer features.

    The only logical plan for TSW4 is to break it up into its component parts.
    I’ll be spending most of my time in either Scenario Planner or Livery Editor.

    I'm interested to see what people will make with the editor. It's wishful thinking, but one route I'd love to see in TSW is SkiTube; the unique rack railway in New South Wales, even though it's a fairly short line.

    • @thetrainguy4
      @thetrainguy4  Год назад

      The scenery is very basic so it’s certainly viable. The rack would be difficult though.

    Regarding the editor think it's a reworked version of what train sim classic.. isn't a bad thing with the ability to fix bugs people see should see a less buggy. Plus folk creating timetables themselves sound's good. Being a console player I won't be able to do that..

    • @thetrainguy4
      @thetrainguy4  Год назад

      It’s not reworked TSC. It’s the same stuff DTG use for their routes.

    • @potatoman451
      @potatoman451 Год назад

      Tsc and tsw use a completely different engine. Tsw uses the unreal editor that dtg uses minus licensed editing tools.
      In terms of consoles having an editor, it simply can't happen. Unreal engine is a pc editor. Developers develop on a pc, not a console. Maybe dtg could make sharing possible although that is pretty complicated so most likely can't do that either.

    • @philipbray880
      @philipbray880 Год назад

      Just a thought even though it's the same stuff as usual Dtg use for the game.

  • @jazzdub4958
    @jazzdub4958 Год назад

    All this griping and moaning and the game isn't even out yet? Question is, could you do any better with a Train Sim video game than DTG given the budget and resources to hand? It's a low end train simulator video game for the masses, not a multi billion dollar real life sit-in loco cab. Just calm down and wait for the game, the gameplay has always been better than the disputed visuals and sounds anyway. DTG won't give a toss what you think while they have your money and making plans for another pointless follow-up namely TSW5 next Fall. I'll be sticking with TSW3 and heading over to SimRail as there's more to do, the scope and goodwill compared to the divisive DTG.

    • @thetrainguy4
      @thetrainguy4  Год назад

      I never said I could do better. DTG themselves can- they’ve done some excellent stuff in the past, with smaller budgets and less resources. Their drive has been shot though.
