- "When do you think Subaru will do a refresh to the WRX?" This question from Kyle was asked in the "LIVE Car Talk + Q&A Ep. 53" and I thought it was a great question worth reposting for those that didn't see the livestream. We need a hatchback for the WRX although that probably is never going to happen again.
It won't. The reason they got rid of it is because nobody was buying them in comparison to the sedan version. If it sold well it would still be around
We just need a higher end version of the Impreza with a manual
Eww 😂
They do have a wagon style Wrx in Japan and Aus only. In Aust only they are releasing a limited 150 units of the Club Spec edition. It comes with Recaro seats, Brembos, 19" wheels on Bridgestone Potenza s007, tuned suspension and steering, STI badging etc and an STI rear spoiler. Manual only.
But the 2015 gen did get a refresh in 2018… new front bumper & some engine changes/improvements
I’d almost rather than them speed the infotainment processor before they refresh any exterior. I loved my ‘21 Outback but the screen did get annoying when it lagged which was often.
Starlink definitely needs a power bump.
They just refreshed it lol
I do remember checking out Japanese Subaru website. Their WRX, though having it worse than us in the US/NA region or Australia by getting only CVT models, had almost Audi-esque information display panel instead of current tachometer set up. It works in conjunction with the navigation and all the stuff that European cars offer, so I am going to assume that such display will start making its way into Subaru lineup, including WRX. TR definitely set the tone right and I just hope that near STi like WRX makes its way in soon (with STi gearbox, DCCD and limited slip diff). If they don't want to make STi, fine. I'm over it.
Selling the Levorg in the States would be a very very nice addition too, but I do worry that it will be another non-turboed FB25'ed car instead of having FA24 turbo engine.
26 is probably when they're going to change stuff but I doubt they'll fundamentally change how the exterior looks. The aftermarket fender flares do the car some major favors, can't even imagine the rear.
Can they switch the cvt for a dual clutch
The taillights need to flip over and I think it will look fine. Also reduce the plastic which likely might not happen. On a black car it's not noticeable 😁
Thinking about trading in my 2017 toyota 86 for one for more practicality. Should I continue to wait? I haven't seen as many issues reported for RTV in oil as much as the GR86/BRZ.
I drove one (WRX) before buying my new BRZ (23) - no comparison as far as driving it goes- the BRZ is way better.
But compared to the old 86/BRZ, the WRX is a nice upgrade and the practicality is definitely better than the 86 / BRZ that's for sure.
Kia unvieled its new k4 wagon! Looks dope but sadly i think the engine is 1.6T ir 2.0na
Consume the whole vehicle lmao. That was a good one. Hate the new elantra n rear looks like this plastic wrx rear lol.
It’s soo new, 4 year refresh usually but pandemic pushed that back..
I bought my son his first car WR Blue WRX GT he Loves it and I drove it and yeah it’s Fantastic doing a few cosmetic changes but it drives amazing.
You bought him a wrx GT as a first car?
How long until Subaru stops painting cars altogether
No way is it worth spending another $1000 or more to get the bumper and fenders painted aftermarket, when it would cost Subaru essentially nothing to have them painted at the factory like they should have been from the get go. I am personally expecting Subaru to offer a mild refresh in 2025 with painted bumpers and fenders and the most minor of other changes. That's the least that consumers should accept from the company, who has lost its way when it comes to the enthusiast market.
The answer is no. Subaru makes minor revisions until they have a new platform, and it tends to be 5+ years in-between gens.
Just imagine if they were to make an STI. That sorry ass TS version is like $43k. A real performance version would cost $50 for a damn subaru that will still get its ass kicked by a sonata.
Subaru has had total disregard for WRX customers since 2014 model year imo
Ehh, they just released the TR version this model year just a couple years after the new generation so I wouldn’t say TOTAL disregard.
Alright, I'll throw you a bone there lol. Only problem is that trim/version should have existed from the get go...
People are still hating on the wrx dam get over it you don’t like cool don’t buy one simple
or I HOPE SUBARU makes a SPECIAL EDITION!
We just want 6 speed manual awd v4 no boxer
The current WRX is so dystopian with that quirky and ugly vertical display inside and the fatal flaw of black cladding on the wheel wells.
It’s an ugly half attempt. Don’t waste your money.
