Best execution I've ever heard, even from Ana Vidovic. She's playing in about 140 bpm, without losing the quality of interpretation. Everytime I listen to this, I think "It worths to be alive"
I like her version of this better than almost any others. She plays it fast but slows down & speeds up at the perfect moments. Like classical guitar & music is supposed to be. Thank you Ana, your a master of masters.
I don't care about all the snooty criticisms of envious people, she not only plays beautifully with feeling, she is beautiful herself. Why can't folks enjoy and respect this gifted performer and artist without gnashing their teeth in envy and jealousy?
The grand master shows the masters how to do it. Only 30 years earlier no-one ever was able to play so good. She raised classical guitar to a new level. I bow deeply.
I totally disagree with the comments that the song is played without feeling. The feeling in this song is not buried in the slow sections, even though they sound great and are needed for contrast. The fast arpeggios are where the soul of the song lives, and weaving an organic voice through them is incredibly difficult. Any expert level guitarist can play this song, but most sound like derivatives of Williams, Parkening, and perhaps Bream. This is something new, and I thought I'd heard all that Asturias had to offer. Thank you Ana!
I hear a voice in the song different than any I've heard before from any guitarist, including the traditional standards of beauty created by the well known soloists I mentioned. That doesn't happen very often with such a classic and widely performed song. Just about all Spanish and Classical guitarists have this one in their back pocket in case they need to get a crowd on their feet.
Pláču nad hodinami, hodinami, dny, týdny a roky dřiny a neustálého cvičení. Aby to venkoncem vyznělo takto dokonale a zdánlivě snadno. Děkuji za nahrávku a moc zdravím z Rakovnicka - Česka.

i like her interpretation better then john williams, but shes no segovia, her attack is a lot harder and she never really express anything other then flawless execution and ferocity, which i do admire, but she lacks emotion...
@@smokingone ... I found MUCH more emotion in her rendition than that of Segovia, personally. His is also a bit faster-paced, which I thought sounded rushed (at least, in the recording I heard).
I wonder why some people here can't just stop insulting each other or giving inapropriate comments. Just listen to this beautiful piece of music by Isaac Albeniz and the nice interpretation! If you think anybody else is better.... just say that; post a link or so. That would be useful for others to compare... In my view she didn't play without emotion. I just had the feeling, that she could have taken some more time at the end for the music to have an effect on the audience. Just a sec or two. Maybe ;-)
+Maria Norina Hoffmann Thanks for your thoughtful comments. I agree with you that she didn't play without emotion, but I have heard her play this in concert at least a couple of times with much more emotional nuance than in this particular video of her playing it. I think you would enjoy hearing more recent RUclips submissions of her playing the same piece, because they are more how she plays it these days -- a bit calmer, more smoothly, and with better precision but still at appropriate speed. One of these videos was put up in July 2015 on RUclips -- check it out! I think you will like it! Or better yet, hear her live!
+Gorobei Suzuki You are right. I've just watched another vid of her playing this wonderful piece of music (from 2015). It is really, really beautiful. Still brilliant but more lively in every single tone.
+antonio silva I'm not saying she's not playing with emotion, but you have no clue whether or not someone is playing with emotion. If you see someone playing this at the right tempo, who are you to say whether or not they're playing with a bunch of emotion?
***** sure, but you don't have to be playing with emotion to get the dynamics right. I'm not saying if the tempo is right they're playing with emotion. I'm saying *you* have no idea whether or not someone is playing with emotion.
A uniquely brilliant interpretation. Bravo. I've heard a hundred, and this might be the best for my ears. I'm amazed to be hearing tremolo on two strings almost simultaneously, which requires right hand technique I can't even conceive of. She attacks the song rather than the audience for those 5 minutes, and it was priceless to hear for the first time. Playing the heck out of that song while making its vibrant emotions shine with the same voice in the arpeggio and solo sections is so hard. Thank you Ana.
So the vid was probably taken by a fan seated in the front row and that's why the audio is not as good as we wish, but there is nothing more wondrous and exciting in the entire world than to hear and see an accomplished artist performing as excellently as this. Ana Vidovic is the guitar, and the guitar is Ana Vidovic. What a great performance, and what a great piece!
Bravo!
It's crazy how offensive people can get just because somebody plays something extremely fast. This piece is supposed to be played at a blazing tempo, as indicated by the composer himself. Parts of the classical guitar repertoire are used specifically to show how skilled a player's technique is...composers intentionally write certain pieces for solely this purpose.
Ana Vidovic. She is one of my best female classical guitar players in the world. I've been several times in her concerts. She is amazing, I recommend you go to see her playing...

She has multiple recordings of this piece made at different times of her life and career. It's fascinating to watch them in chronological order to see how she evolves over time.
That would indeed be cool! Can you download and then upload them here, so we can appreciate the evolution of her interpretations? I'm not joking - but dead serious here. Would love to hear the different renditions!
Never heard anyone playing Asturias so fast. It requires enormous technique and dexterity. If this is a true/real live performance then "Hats Off....". Simply awesome, no words...
The faster you play this song the better. If you didn't feel any emotion from listening to this piece, then you're hurt. Asturias has been played so many times by so many different artist. It's not like it came out a decade or two ago. The goal is to make it your own, and she did it perfectly.
Truly incredible ability and talent. One of if not the best and most accurate performs I've ever seen. I enjoy each performance tremendously. Plus she is beautiful as well and her enjoyment and passion for her playing and each piece is clearly evident in her smile, body movements and expressions.

¡Increible! Every time I hear this (and I come back often!), I send an e-mail to my son, with this link, asking WHY he abandoned guitar (after I paid for 10 years of lessons, because he said he loved it!) .........
You are AMAZING. I am learning to play the classical guitar. my dream is to compose on day.( I am 15) You just became my inspiration. I love how you play...and much more.
I was actually looking for a different video and I saw this and something told me to click on it. The guitar work is amazing. On top of that she looks as good as she plays.

Respect. That's really great art. She's not only tremendously fast in the A- and C-part but she is especially the B-Part able get out in the full expression of this lovely guitar classic. Never heard it better but I heard a lot of guitarists who failed on this part. What a impressing young Lady!
Her technical skill is exquisite. The performance felt impatient and had sparse glimmers of emotion. I've never heard her play before, so I'm off to mine RUclips for more performances.
Beautiful on many levels!! All the haters must be able to play this piece better than it is played here. Or maybe some just can't give credit where it is obviously due.
I have heard a lot of criticism about the way she is playing faster than the actual BPM. The fact is this woman is the best classical guitarist that has ever lived male or female. Andreas Segovia does not hold a candle to this woman. Not only that she's beautiful! Listen to her interpretation of Altiplanos by Pierre Bensusan... she is 99.8% Flawless in her execution of anything that she plays. She is a wonderful person I met her. I had the pleasure of seeing, meeting, and getting an autograph from Ana a few months back. It was one of the greatest experiences I've had in my life, and she is easily the best player I've come across. Not to mention, how breathtakingly beautiful she is of course.

My rocker background has sufficiently fucked my possibilities at assuming the positions required to skillfully deploy such beauty from my fingertips. Still...I'll never give up! :)
due to a poor back, i invested in a guitar support. the ergoplay one to be specific. perhaps you could use something similar in your circumstance. it has made me sound about 20% better... not saying much since i am terrible and learning, but worth looking into. if you want more info on the support i got and where to get on, send me a message. i can make recommendations and share my online purchase experience.
Murray Kitson I am interested! I didn't see your message in the past. What kind of guitar support do you have and where could I search to find or make one? thank you!
--cLAsic-- What are you talking about Krokodil and Vodka? I mean his Name is wrote in Greek its far away from the Kirillic writing. Only Because hammer and sicke you think he is a russian? There is no reason to bitch around like you.
Jake Farron Merlin This means your opinion is worthless and you understand nothing about Classical Guitar! Why did she remake this piece at a lower pace and received good comments?
RGD Md too fast? according to what benchmark? she seems to be playing it at about 130-140 bmp. Very close to the original tempo of 132 bpm in the first editions of the piece. There are many transcriptions of this piece for the guitar, and some of them are slower, but that doesn't necessarily mean they are better or they reflect the composer's intentions better. No feeling? is feeling a classical musical term? can you be a little more specific? perhaps something like this: "her legato was rather staccato on bars x to y and her crescendo stopped way before the climax of phrase z". You have to understand something. When your critique of a classical music performance is based solely on speed and "feeling", we know you simply don't know :)
Why would she repeat the piece with a slower version which she received far better comments for? If you would have gone back and read the comments of many musicians since this video was released years ago, you might have saved yourself time and spared everyone your philosophical comments as though you were Segovia himself!
RGD Md because that is what classically trained musicians do. They don't have a definitive interpretation of an specific piece set in stone. They change their interpretations based on whatever they want to explore expressively on a piece. And tempo (speed in your language) is only one of the many variables that players "play" with. Your dear Segovia, Bream, Williams, Barrueco, Yepes, almost every guitar master records several versions of the same pieces at different speeds. Sometimes they record a fast version first, and then a slower version later. Sometimes is the other way around. Comments and likes of "musicians" in RUclips are good for one thing only: telling the loud but uneducated ears from the informed and structured ones in web. Unfortunately, it is clear that musical training is not general culture, otherwised, Justin Bieber would be the greatest musician on earth based on popularity.
well, no feeling, no expression, no "fire" if younderstand, specially when it comes to the (how to explain in words), the34 low accord the "wrumm" should be more fiercy, more forzando,
thanks, that's helpful. You seem to know what you're talking about Is there a version you could recomend so I can hear the difference in the low accord?
I disagree. While I do think she plays it a bit too fast, she has a smoothness and precision that many others don't have. I would also recommend listening to how John Williams plays this piece.
It's called rasgueado. And I think se plays it perfectly, but i prefer ir slower so I can enjoy the moments of music. You cant say it's a bad performance or she isn't good especialy if you are a laik... You can just say you don't like the way she plays the song...
I live in USA, I took classical guitar lessons in Asturias Spain and am now medical illustrator x 60 yrs of age but still love the guitar. This musician is nothing less than amazing am grateful to hear such fantastic rendition. I am inspired to take up my guitar again.

I still prefer much more her slower interpretation tho, sounds much better in my ears
Completely agree. With this piece & David Dyakov's Five Bagatelles, faster IS better!
It's always worth it to be alive, my friend.

She nails it , you'll rarely hear this with the spirit and fire she plays it with .
I'm a guitar teacher, this must be the most technically challenging interpretation of Asturias that ive seen - beautifully played
I agree. I can confortably play this with few errors, but her interpretation and speed in which she plays is approaching ethereal.
No one on Earth can play this as well as Ana! Period.

Absolutely wonderful! Thank you.

Luso Sport Psych It doesn't hurt to have expectations! Cheers!!!!

She is fn amazing! Please she has feel and dynamics and an obvious love for the instrument I am never bored watching her play ..
bullshit.
she s gonna break the guitar in this way. no passion at all.

Too fast, no feeling
bullshit opinion in my opinion. that's music.
This is the 6th version i have am listening to now, and without doubt, the worst
That's weird...I thought this was much better than the other one's I listened to.
What don't you like about it?
well, no feeling, no expression, no "fire" if younderstand, specially when it comes to the (how to explain in words), the34 low accord the "wrumm" should be more fiercy, more forzando,
thanks, that's helpful.
A superb and original performance.
I live in USA, I took classical guitar lessons in Asturias Spain and am now medical illustrator x 60 yrs of age but still love the guitar. This musician is nothing less than amazing
am grateful to hear such fantastic rendition. I am inspired to take up my guitar again.
