2 Kooks on Sumba

When the two adventure-seeking, straight down the face riding friends needed a break from the Tropical Paradies aka. Disneyland aka. Crazy traffic Island (Where are all these Busses on the Bukit coming from??) they decided to give Indonesias wavepool in Lagundri Bay a miss (Sorry Ali!) and headed to the unknown Island of Sumba. The trip started with a driver called Mex who seemed so genuine and mysterious that on had to wonder if he is driving you to the destination of your desire or going to show you why and how exactly the whole universe is connected. He appeared out of a crowd of intrusive exited Sumbanese men who saw a chance to overcharge these two tired looking Bules and set the tone for the rest of the trip. We met the Salmon fishing Dongos who were sharing wisdom and kindness over rice beans and banana pancakes. At the end we reunited with a bunch of crazy Austrian Pirates who are living on a stolen Katamaran and who were casually feeding the leftovers of Strache to the saltwatercrocodiles that get washed to the island all the way from Australia and are not bred specifically for that purpose (at least if you want to trust a guy with a parrot on his shoulder). In between there were waves. A lot of them. Some of them where small some of them where big and a few of them could have been ridden more radical by a lot of other people. But those people where not there and this is the result. Felix could´t surf one evening and climbed up a vertical rock-wall and filmed a few waves from a session that could be described as quite representative for the trip that will be remembered as two Kooks on Sumba.
