    From season 3, “Blow Up.” I love this bit, I wish we knew exactly how they did it. I do see some slight green around the edges, so maybe it was green paint and they did Green screen effects lol

    See now I wonder if this was green paint with greenscreen effects, or if they had a glossy image of Al under the canvas with a simple white water soluble mixture that TIm could remove with just the brush and some water. Given how he takes the time to fix Paint Al's hair very, VERY accurately, I'm assuming the latter.

    • @Kreatur84

      I asked this myself. If it could be the paint under the white color and make it visible with water.

  • @fdsman

    the funniest thing about the green screen bit is the audience is laughing at tim painting the color green, only having been told Al will show up in post.

    • @ForceMaximus84
      @ForceMaximus84 5 лет назад +1

      fdsman Maybe they did a mock up on set or later on or they shot the reaction of them looking at the finished video on another episode. You’re probably right, though.

    • @Riley_Mundt
      @Riley_Mundt 3 года назад +5

      I always assumed they did a reversal. Where there was wet, white paint covering a picture of Al, and Tim was brushing paint thinner to remove the paint.

    • @RoswelliVideos
      @RoswelliVideos 2 года назад +3

      I thought they just did it by having the audience look at the monitors. You can see a few of them in the cutaway to the audience looking up. Given it's meta nature of being set inside a TV studio, it's not unreasonable.

      I thought they might be using some kind of cleaning solution on a this coat of something over the image. So that instead of 'painting the image' he is really just uncovering it. But i guess that would have been just as expensive and not look as smooth.

    • @Link-ho8yq
      @Link-ho8yq 3 года назад +1

      @moviesigrewupwith167blue and Green screen technology has been around since the 60s. They used it a lot in the 70s especially on The Muppet Show

  • @killeing

    • @lojosol
      @lojosol 3 года назад +5

      If you look carefully at the bucket Tim carries from the paint machine over to the wall, you can see there is green paint inside. I assume that they used green screen technology to pull off the effect.

    • @killeing
      @killeing 3 года назад +1

      @@lojosol you can make some sort of liquid that acts as a green screen? I thought green screens were already hooked up to the computer and whatnot. Personally it just looks like they covered the front of it with something and used the brush to wipe it away as if they were painting. Least that seems the most likely to me ^^

    • @lojosol
      @lojosol 3 года назад +4

      @@killeing green screen works by applying the superimposed image over anything that is green, which is why this works. It’s also why you never see anyone wearing green when they are doing things like the news

    • @snppls
      @snppls 6 лет назад +12

      It's definately green screen. You can see the green colour of the paint as he carries it over to the bench. There is also some light pixalation around the edges which would further suggest green screen.
