I ride but am not associated with any club, I've seen banditos and booze fighters many times on the ride. When my bike broke down on the side of the highway, these men in their so called gangs stopped and offered to have a mechanic come look at my bike or have a tow truck come pick up the bike for me. These men form a bond with their iron horse and their brothers, show them respect and you will get it in return.

A few weeks ago I ran out of gas a mile away from a gas station, some of the bigger clubs in my area had stopped, realized I just needed gas and without asking a few from the group ran and got gas for me. Don’t know them, didn’t get any names but I appreciated it. Never fully understood how much riders look out for eachother until then. (Only been riding for a year)

I once tended Bar at a place called “The Indian” in Three Rivers California. The Mongols came up one weekend. (I was warned they were coming).
One of the Kitchen employees picked up a Rattlesnake that had been hit on the road and she brought it to me because back then I cured the skins and ate the meat.
I threw it on the floorboard of my Bronco and worked my shift. When I got off I remembered the Snake. The head guy for that Chapter of the Mongols was known as “Snake” at the time.
I told them I had a “Live” Rattlesnake in my rig. (It was still moving a bit). They’re still plenty dangerous. Anyway I told them I was gonna put it on Ice.
The whole bunch followed me out to my truck, and it was so funny. I opened the door, dramatically grabbed it by the head and when I turned around, you’d have thought I was holding a live grenade!
They all backed up at once! Like they we’re synchronized. (Glad none of them shot me).
I thought. “These guys are all from the City!” So I played it up. I threw it on the hood of the Bronco, went in and got a bag of ice. Came back out and these wild bikers are gathered round. (At a distance). I grabbed it again dramatically by the head, turned around, and again they all take a step back. I asked for a volunteer to hold the plastic bag open. They all took another step back. So I put the Head between my teeth and spat it into the bag. The HMFIC of these guys came up to me and said “You’re the craziest Mother*%^&er I ever met!” I said “No, I’m just a country boy in my own element, I couldn’t survive well in your world”. That is a true story. After it was over, the second shift Bartender brought out the phone and said it was for me. It was our resident Deputy Sheriff..He said “Bobby? Are you alright?”
I said “Never better Kevin” It turns out he watched the whole thing on Binoculars from the Liquor store up the road.
I often wonder if those guys still tell that story. That was almost 30 years ago. Cheers.

I remember breaking down in Texas near Austin, saw several cops pass then about three Bikers not sure of their club, but they all had the same colors, they looked at the car, left. 20 minutes later a tow truck showed up complete with McDonald's and soft drinks. 1962 I was 12, I traded a Honda 90 S for a 49 Harley 3-wheeler, it was a San Jose old meter reader bike. After months of working on it I finally got it running. Now I'm 13 in 63 and I rode it down the main highway in East San Jose, I pulled into a girls on roller skate's restaurant, I'm having a soda when the Hells Angels pulled in, I really didn't know who the Angels were back in 63, but my dad did. I got to ride with them for about 3 months, because I carried the Beer in the box of my 3-wheeler, I wish I still had that bike. My dad wouldn't let me ride on the highways anymore, I was only 13. In the late 70's and 80's I was a Firefighter in San Bernardino, the Hell's Angels had their headquarters in the city, and I responded to many medical aid calls there, met a lot of HA's and became friends with many and was given a support patch, although I ride with International Firefighters MC. Good times. Over the years since retiring from SBC Fire, I've rode with many different clubs as a guest, I have respect for the Mongols, Vagos, Angels, SOS, Bandido's and all of the clubs and I hope they would have the same respect back. That's my story, I'm sticking to it

When I was truck driving, me and my partner stopped in San Bernardino California at a gas station.
Went in there to get me a soda water and a bunch of vagos mc members came in. Everyone was nervous and scared of these dudes, not me though. I struck up a conversation with them and they seemed like really nice level headed guys. We laughed, cracked jokes, swapped stories, and over all had a good time.

Yeah, "...where this is going" sounds like silly, wishful thinking. I mean, let's be candid here...You posit that, without the "alphabet soup" of gov't agencies, every citizen - regardless of patch or no patch - would be exhibiting a Land of Eden of "personal responsibility", civil obedience and adherence to our nation's fundamental Social Contract-- no shooting, looting, legit acts of terrorism or illegal criminal enterprises?? MC posters want us to believe that they're mostly God-fearing humanists, and that only a few bad apples exist in such ranks...but you won't give the Alphabet Agencies (ATF, FBI, DEA, IRS, etc.) the same benefit of the doubt? Personally, at 65 I've never, ever had a run-in with any on that list, and I ain't no saint.

Right in front of the fairgrounds, a biker broke down, I stopped to help and ended up towing him home. My first time towing another bike. After I dropped him off, he gave me a Vago Courtesy Card and said call if you need help while in California, call. I didn't need any help and got a Christmas Card from the Vagos that Christmas. Although I've been riding since 1962, I'm only affiliated with International Firefighters MC, District 7 Montana. In Montana we don't leave anyone behind, and we stop to help our brother bikers and women bikers, if we didn't, we may never see them again, a Bear might eat them

I owned a home in Northern Arizona for 12 years with a large Hells Angels chapter house just 5 houses down from my property. Not once did I hear any wild parties, just bikes from time to time. Then one day a bunch of law enforcement showed up and raided them all. It was part of a state wide bust on gangs that day. Afterwards, the house was empty for a long time, but we ended up moving so not sure if any of them ever came back to the neighborhood.

Pablo Escobar was loved by his local town for helping put kids through college and paying for new facilities and charities.
Doesn’t mean he didn’t or hire others to put people in barrels of acid.
The Yakuza are known for their help in relief zones etc. Yakuza are super respectful and have serious rules against hurting children, mothers, etc, they still have been involved in human trafficing of super young girls, so called ‘comfort girls’ originally when they began that trade during WWII.
It isn’t the same saying that just because gangs act super great in the communities they actually live in that they don’t have a shadow side that is very very real...

I live in Oregon and there were many prevalent members here but can no longer wear their colors here as they are immediately detained. I have talked to many at length about the clubs and their rides and such but stay away from any “dangerous” questions as to criminal activity. My dad who grew up in Albuquerque, New Mexico in the 1950s has a funny personal story about a motorcycle gang. It was just after my parents got married, they were riding in their 1952 Chevy along a stretch of highway in New Mexico. A motorcycle gang came up alongside their vehicle on both sides, slowed down and surrounded the car, making hand gestures and being intimidating towards my parents. It was just about that time they drove into a very large swarm of locusts, the motorcycle gang of course was not wearing helmets and they were traveling at 65 miles an hour. Immediately the bikers had to reduce speed and stop. Needless to say, but the gang was picking locusts from their teeth and bikes for a while after that. On a side note, my dad started a motorcycle gang called the "Turks" in the early 1950s, but when he got married and started a family, decided (yeah mom decided) that he needed to sell the bike and get a serious job.

Had a lot of dealings with bikers in my 6o+ years of life. Never had trouble with any of them except one not mentioned here and that was the Iron Coffins who kept showing up at a bar I was a bouncer in in lima Ohio in the late 70's early 80's. Oddly enough I only had problems with one guy and it was their then "president" who I guess thought it was fun to push the little guy around. He was trying to find one of the dancers at the place I worked and he apparently thought intimidating me would help him find her. It didn't, and the whole time she was 20 feet away and he didn't know it. He walked outside at closing and was about to start trouble until I told him to look around carefully. He suddenly realized that they were surrounded by every police car in the county that night. He handed his drink to me and left. Never heard from them again.
