UPDATE and edit 27/07/2018 Bandai Namco are now releasing this in Europe November 2nd. Full story on our site switchwatch.co.uk/taiko-no-tatsujin-drum-n-fun-on-nintendo-switch-coming-to-europe/ Wow, this review turned out bigger than I thought! Hope you enjoy this one. Let me know what you guys think! EDIT: I got a little carried away with the price. It's actually ¥6588 which is about $57 and £45! Review: switchwatch.co.uk/taiko-no-tatsujin-nintendo-switch-review/
Tried this arcade machine recently, when visiting Tokyo. And was happy to see it released to the west just 1 day after returning. But I havent seen it anywhere since.. The energy of the game really drew me in
I already imported the PS4 version when that came out but will definitely be getting the western Switch and PS4 versions as well. Need to support this franchise.
Problem is the world doesn’t appreciate J pop or Japanese franchised music sufficiently to warrant more worldwide support. It’s very Japanese-y rhythm game targeting a specific audience
What an Amazing review. Wow. What an excellent piece of work. Nothing less, nothing more. I was on the fence on this One, but i am so eager to buy It now.
marco latini Juan here Marco. I am enjoying my holidays in the fantastic Italy. I have to agree that this review was top notch from Jordan and he had me trying to find an import!!
marco latini Bibione my friend. 1 hour from Venice or so. Going to go check out Venice. Bibione is wonderful. Love it here. Can't wait to see Venice also.
SwitchWatch venice is such an Amazing Place. You Will feel the magic. Just went There yesterday to see the biennale of art and architecture. If you pass by Verona let me know!
This game is surprisingly addictive and harder than it looks. It’s an endurance test on higher difficulty. I would do any controls you want but motion controls are only encouraged at lower difficulties due to human responsiveness of hitting thin air. We are not functionally abled to respond rhythmically without sufficient tactile feedback by that point
I really enjoyed it. If you buy the drum, fair warning, two full water bottles aren't enought to weigh it down lol. I had to jury rig a setup to get it to stay in place (probably gonna have my friend build me a weighted stand for it or something. when not playing on drums, buttons work great. haven't done motion yet (just don't think it's even worth trying based off experience with other rhythm games that have those kinds of controls). Touchscreen is something I'll probably try, but I've been getting most of my playtime in on the bus rides to/from work, so it's not the best place for it. Song selection is okay. But I'm probably spoiled from having a soft-modded Wii a few years back with all the TnoT games for it lol. overall 7.5 out of 10. Song selection could be better (but there may be a ton I have yet to unlock) and they need to make the drum heavier. Other than that, about what you've come to expect out of the Taiko no Tatsujin series :)
after getting the hang of it the joy con motion controls are actually REALLY fun. I play it at usually 2nd to hardest difficulty. I DO want the drum controller though...
How much did you pay total? I got the digital version of the game and all the dlc which ended up being almost $80 and the drum controller on play asia is $73 but the shipping is $22. Where as amazon is $105 for the drum and free shipping. so in total like $160-$180 depending on what you get. The physical copy was $54 or so without the dlc included but i didn't want to wait a month for it lol

1) I think I butchered the title far less than most would. Not nearly perfect of course but then again it's not my language buddy. We're honestly a bit tired of getting called out in this regard. We do our best but people still bemoan the fact as though we should be so engrossed in Japanese culture as they. We do our best and thanks for the information regarding the different meanings. 2) You'll notice I say weird in a *very* loving way. It's different and unusual to western ears who aren't accustomed to the slightly eccentric nature of some of these songs; vocaloid and such, and if that's not the definition of weird I don't know what is. Weird is not inherently a bad word. 3) I myself am not a taiko no tatsujin. I thoroughly enjoy playing these games on a casual basis but if you feel the button controls are better, more power to you. I disagree. 4) My TV's fine. =) Thanks for the comment! =)
SwitchWatch SwitchWatch *controls* of course it's down to the user. Do what works for you. For me, highest scores are achieved with modifed button controls. Which is why I asked if you (or anyone else reading this) used buttons only when docked. *Displays* I thought my top end at the time plasma TV was fine with it's super solid fast moving images until I tried playing a rhythm game on a display with less than 10ms input delay. Then it felt like everything was happening BEFORE I pushed the buttons and I was getting much higher accuracy. It is then that I realised the true value of display lag for these games. A statistic that almost no TV manufacturer even advertises. I’m so glad I spotted this. I’ve had it in my cart over at Play Asia for a while and I don’t even know why. Never had any interest in rhythm games but this looks awesome!! I guess I’ll pick it up.
Oh man, I played this game like crazy on the Nintendo DS. Just got the switch and found out they have this game for the switch as well. Must buy soon! Now where's the sale?
@@darkcoolyo although I have to say, my fav was Meccha Taiko no Tatsujin on the DS. You got to travel around to different places besides playing the songs so it was a nice addition.
I bought the Western version of the Hori tatacon that will be released this Friday (but I already received it). I am posting this because I would have liked to know this before I bought it. If anyone has more questions feel free to ask! I’m from the Netherlands and the tatacon bundle is already sold out in the pre-orders here but you might be able to snatch one if you live somewhere else. The input of the tatacon is very good, I did not have to adjust the settings or anything. No need to mod this version at all. You don’t need to hit it to hard the edges are very sensitive. You do need to give a decent tap on the surface but that’s how I’m used to it in arcades so I think it’s nice to have that same feeling at home. The tatacon is not perfect though; the usb cable is a bit too short for most couch-tv ratios. I will try if it works with an usb extension cable tomorrow. Also the tatacon is not very heavy, even with the pet bottles inserted to increase the weight. In songs on easy its fine but on hard the drum moves and you need to push it right during gameplay which is a bit annoying. Might try to tape it down haha. The game itself is really really fun if you like Japanese music. Lots of songs to choose from with different difficulties, characters with skills that change gameplay a bit and lots of partygames. Menu suggests a DLC will come soon. I don’t regret getting this bundle.
I just ordered the Drum set too! I loved the demo of this game but the joycons kind of sucked after a while. Good for easier levels but not the best for latter. Can't wait to try the drum! Is the drum a better input method than the other options?
You can change the drum sound. Can't check right now, but I think the menu opened when I pressed X in one of the menus, probably on the song select menu
Such an awesome and unique review man this game looks so much fun. It's to COT damn expensive though 🤬. I definitely wanna pick it up hopefully later on down the line. Thank you for reviewing this..
good review and i'm gonna get it with the drum controller tomorrow (it released in the UK on 2nd November, i j hope the drum bundle doesn't sell out today) 😊
I think it's one of those where they're not wholly confident in it so they might not have made too many drums. Think you should be fine to get it this early though =)
@@SwitchWatch Yeah i've always loved the series but i have never got to play it with the drum controller and its not cheap like you said its gonna cost me £90 to get the collectors edition with the drum controller but i've never played a Taiko game with the drum controller before so i'm gonna get the bundle for the arcade style of gameplay 😊
For those wondering about the drum peripheral, you can save a ton of money by buying the one from ElectriBrite and not HORI. I am aware Play-Asia sells the latter cheaper, but I believe the former is superior. Having a separate controller in place of it being built-in is pretty cool and the drumsticks are in a much better place. It even comes with a stand and adapter so you can use it in Portable Mode. Said stand and adapter also make other games ideal for portable play like Ultimate since you can plug in the GameCube Adapter and still play without a television using your favorite controller. For those that do not have Play-Asia, for sure buy the ElectriBrite drum.
There are loads of third-party drums out there now. Personally I'd stick with the official one. My experience with third-party peripherals has never been great.
*+SwitchWatch* HORI really hasn't been that good in recent years. And with a game where the only goal is to hit a drum, I can't see them being a miss at all. The ElectriBrite one has even gotten better reviews due to the smaller changes it has, such as the controller part being separate from the drum, Portable Mode being a feasible option and so on.
Thanks for a great review! Waiting for it to arrive this week, a question; How difficult is it to play when you dont know any japanese? I want to get going before the english update hits in August?
It's perfectly fine playing without English. There's no story and the mini game instructions can easily be worked out within a couple of seconds of it starting.
Nice Review 👍 I have my copy on the way (the Physical Australian one was in fact being sold on Ebay by EB Games themselves brand new and for less than on the eShop thank god) already have the PS4 Version and been playing it to hell and back (was funny actually since that one is digital only and both the PS4 AND Switch titles are like $91 here on the Stores, luckily the morning I got paid around last week I went to Taiko on the PSN Store and it had just been reduced in the last few hours to $39.95 for the January Sales)
1) Yes and no, depending on what you mean by download songs. The base game includes, if I counted correctly, 74 songs under the categories of Pops, Anime, Vocaloid, Variety, Classic, Game Music, and Namco Original. This game does include DLC songs that you need to pay money ($1.99 USD) for if you would like additional songs to play. If you mean download songs like you would do for Osu!, it is not possible. 2) Yes, but you would need a USB⇄USB-C adapter. From the drum controllers I've seen on the internet, the adapter is included, but I can't say for sure since I never bought one myself.
U tried the demo and its soo much fun! I cant import it myself though because i dont have method of paying online since im only 14 and dont have a credit card. Guess ill wait for the EU release
Nice review. I'm wondering though if it would be possible to use the Taiko drum for other rhythm games? And what is the European price for the drum? Cheers.
SwitchWatch Thanks anyway. It looks like it's going to be an expensive purchase but it will be worth it. The one on the PS2 comes out a lot at the games club I go to and it's always seriously popular. I can bring the Switch version in and get my money's worth from it. ^o^
The drum controller is not perfect if you play some Oni level songs(the purple devil), but adequate for flower(easy), bamboo(normal), and most tree(hard) songs. I see many Japanese RUclipsr modding it by replacing the sponge in the drum with wooden plate. I might also buy one if I cannot get my 200 dollar one designed for Wii U to work with the Switch, sad.
dxxpwave I can't read Japanese but on the back of my copy of the game is says 70 near some of the tracks listed on the back of the box, and some have been unlocked while playing.
I don't know the exact figure but you start with about 60 and unlock some more. I have about 71 songs currently (If I counted correctly) and the box says over 70. Maybe I still have more to unlock.
I'm in China and thinking about pickimg this up. What's the normal price foe the controller + game? Hopefully they update the controls also because it would be fun to play two player mode and better motion controls foe the second player would be good.
I'm in China too, I picked this up right at release for 800Rmb but a quick look on taobao shows that it's gone up to about 1000 since then due to demand. And there's an absolute tonne of third party knock-off drum accessories now so be careful. Make sure you get the official Hori one.
I think that multiplayer option you’re talking about it just local multiplayer and not online. Really wish it had online. I’m really enjoying this game a lot too!
Anyone got the UK version yet? Hearing mixed results on how responsive the drum can be. Mostly negative so I cancelled my order and am worried it'll be rare if I wait too long.
James Shearer I got mine yesterday from the UK even though I live in The Netherlands but it was already sold out here. For me the drum controller is not responsive at all. I have to hit with a pretty hard swing to get a note and I don't think that's how it's supposed to be. Maybe I'm just unlucky that I got a bad one but if there are multiple people with this issue I would refrain from buying it.
@@patrickvandenbogert thanks for that, I'll keep looking for a couple of days but it does seem quite common. I can get it at a discount but wonder if it is unresponsive if it's fixable by me or someone else if I sold it on.
Really enjoying this game after importing it, but didn't get the drum because I was wary of getting an import charge to the UK, I didn't get stung this time luckily. I also noticed the double inputs when playing with motion controls, bit did get the hang of it as was getting 200+ note streaks on some 4 star songs with them. Do hope to pick up a drum if we get an overseas release, maybe with some localised songs to replace ones that inevitably can't get licensed for a release outside of Japan.
I bought my game off of play Asia because the Eshop wouldn’t allow me to use a american credit card ( I prefer physical copies anyways),You just need a Japanese account and the game will run. I had a hard time with the motion controls as well so I use the other default, I fell in love with the game and I’m happy that I can finally try the series out. How do you unlock more characters for the upper left of your screen?
You don't need a Japanese account to run the game. You can use a UK or US one too and it's fine. With the new patch it will be in English. You unlock character by completing the mini games =)
I remember some people put a sheet over their drum controller to soften the noise. Also, I have a question: how long does your cart boot up for? Whenever I boot the game, it takes 26-27 seconds before it gets to the logos.
SwitchWatch Thank you! The situation was bothering me, and I kept thinking I've obtained a defective cart. Now I can rest easy knowing it's not just me or my switch.
Did you tried 2 players mode? It seems like there is no sound effect for 2nd player when hit the note... ...please tell me if you facing same thing or not
I just tried and it's fine for me. Maybe the second player accidentally turned it off? When you're selecting the difficulty you can change the settings sound effect settings.
Firstly this is a Bandai game so Nintendo wouldn't do anything, secondly it's usually the copyright owner of the music who would make the claim. As long as the music isn't fully prominent like in this video where it's much lower than my voice, RUclips's systems won't detect it.
I was able to get the game on my American switch, we just had to get another gmail to make a new account, set region as japan, then I could get the game because my mom is Japanese and she has a Japanese credit card. I love the game so far! I haven’t tried drum yet for the switch but I do have taiko drums from the Wii and Wii U
So in your opinion whats a fair price for importing the drums? I know it'll be expensive either way but I'm curious what price makes the most sense compared to the scalpers that exist in the internet.
Well it seems that the drum itself is more expensive than the game which I find a little odd. I paid about $50 for it but I have cheaper sources from Hong Kong into China. If you can find it for that I would say it's a deal. Problem is though, many people will be importing which will no doubt jack the price up if they didn't make enough units.
Ah yea I hear ya. I can understand the price being a bit high since it's a custom product. It'll be awhile before I grab one myself so I'm hoping these don't disappear too quickly haha. Anyways, glad you reviewed this and the controls. Also, I don't know if it's in your agenda anymore, but I'm hoping you review some shmups again sometime. It's ridiculous how many have been popping up on the switch lately!
Got it last night played for good two hour playing it hard with motion control. Went to bed with extreme aches in my hand and arm thiught I was dying. Turns out I played the game to hard I gave myself a cyst in my wrist. 😭 now I can’t play till it better
Glad to help! Hope you add that info in the description so people can know. BTW, to change the drum SFX, press the + button in the song selection menu (there's even a Pac Man sound). In addition, an English language patch is supposed to come out on August 9th
We seem to be creeping closer to a 'yes' on a Stateside release...I sure hope it happens! :D Sadly, however, it's very unlikely that two of the songs in this version, namely the Lupinranger vs Patranger opening theme and Kamen Rider Build opening theme('Be the One') will make it over....
I would imagine it would be difficult at best to get either, simply due to copyright issues, although with L vs P, it could be easier, now that Hasbro owns the Power Rangers franchise in it's entirety, and may be open to adapting that series in the future...as for Be the One(and I ADORE that song), the 1st two attempts at a Kamen Rider series in the States weren't exactly successful, although Dragon Knight was reasonably good and it -did- win a daytime Emmy.........we don't like to talk about Masked Rider, though.... >_
Yes, it does, and also has some like Bad Apple and Sugar Song to a Bitter step as well as a song from One Piece and Pokémon. There are song packs too, and I’m pretty sure you can get night of the nights
Here in America...I regret soooo much that I sold my PS2 Taiko Drum Master set several years ago. Please do a Western release!!! I may just have to do an import for this
love the arcade version thus i preordered it. i'm still waiting for mine to arrive.. though i'm thinking if i should get the Drum since it is pretty pricey for me at the moment
pressing the + sign after you selected the song (where you select the difficulty), will allow you to change your drum sound.
Yeah, know that now, thanks =)

Dude I legit just bought the game and it's so cute
@@darkcoolyo although I have to say, my fav was Meccha Taiko no Tatsujin on the DS. You got to travel around to different places besides playing the songs so it was a nice addition.
I love rhythm games so I'll be getting
Really hope you enjoy it :) Come back and please let us know :)
Thanks for the comment and I'm glad you're enjoying the game! =)
I just ordered the Drum set too! I loved the demo of this game but the joycons kind of sucked after a while. Good for easier levels but not the best for latter. Can't wait to try the drum! Is the drum a better input method than the other options?
Drum or touch controls are the best in my opinion
Thank you very much for your comment Rommy
Played demo and defo saving up for it, so fun
Hope you enjoy it buddy, are you saving for the drum as well?
@@SwitchWatch idk depends, heard it was more than the game😅
You can change the drum sound. Can't check right now, but I think the menu opened when I pressed X in one of the menus, probably on the song select menu
Nevermind, just checked. When you select a song and it asks you which difficulty you want, press + or - and the first option is the drum sound
Awesome! I'll give it a try soon enough. Like I said, I couldn't be sure if it was a complaint because of the menu systems being in Japanese.
Holy cow I just got it for 15 bucks on sale ! Can’t wait for it to download
Insanity! Looks great. Thank u.
You're welcome! =)
and also you can change the drum sound by clicking plus or minus when you are selecting a mode
a difficulty*
Yeah I learned that soon afterwards.
such a fun game. absolutely worth it to get the drum
Thanks buddy! We're looking for the Western release.
Hopefully they don't change too much for the western release
Such an awesome and unique review man this game looks so much fun. It's to COT damn expensive though 🤬. I definitely wanna pick it up hopefully later on down the line. Thank you for reviewing this..
My pleasure bud!
I could see my 6yr taking over this game 🙂
It should be fun for kids
good review and i'm gonna get it with the drum controller tomorrow (it released in the UK on 2nd November, i j hope the drum bundle doesn't sell out today) 😊
@@James-gj8rn fair enough buddy, it is a lot of cash. Im sure you will enjoy it either way as its a great little game!
@@SwitchWatch I just know i'm gonna love it and thanks for replying 😊
The "Better reviews" Are from a lot of people who say they bought it for their 6 year old kid or something. You want responsive.
@@scrutinygametalk7136 Eh, it plays fine. It's smaller, though.
Oh you own it? thought about getting one for a secondary.
I love this game and I haven't played it yet
😀
Thanks for a great review! Waiting for it to arrive this week, a question; How difficult is it to play when you dont know any japanese? I want to get going before the english update hits in August?
It's perfectly fine playing without English. There's no story and the mini game instructions can easily be worked out within a couple of seconds of it starting.
random correction:red and blue is basically don and ka
Nice Review 👍 I have my copy on the way (the Physical Australian one was in fact being sold on Ebay by EB Games themselves brand new and for less than on the eShop thank god) already have the PS4 Version and been playing it to hell and back (was funny actually since that one is digital only and both the PS4 AND Switch titles are like $91 here on the Stores, luckily the morning I got paid around last week I went to Taiko on the PSN Store and it had just been reduced in the last few hours to $39.95 for the January Sales)
Hope you're going to enjoy it! You getting the Drum Controller with it?
@@SwitchWatch Not right away but I am considering picking one up in a little bit 👍
I have some several questions:
1)Can i download songs? if i can , do i need to have nintendo online?
2)Can i buy the drum set for my switch lite?
This was my jam back on the ps2
Will it be your jam on Switch too?
Great review! Already import the game digitally. Did you get the drum imported from Amazon Japan, and how’s shipping and custom like if so?
I live in China and I bought it from a store who'd already imported them so I can't help you with that I'm afraid.
Drum costs 60 Amazon global shipping costs 8 so its all 70 bucks. Right now it doesn’t say that it’s in stock but says it will ship from 2-5 weeks
U tried the demo and its soo much fun! I cant import it myself though because i dont have method of paying online since im only 14 and dont have a credit card. Guess ill wait for the EU release
Not too long to wait. It's coming in November! =)
SwitchWatch Yeah, i cant wait! Hopefully the track list stays the same.
Nice review. I'm wondering though if it would be possible to use the Taiko drum for other rhythm games? And what is the European price for the drum? Cheers.
If other rhythm games have button mapping and are simple enough, it's possible. Sadly I don't know the European price right now
SwitchWatch Thanks anyway. It looks like it's going to be an expensive purchase but it will be worth it. The one on the PS2 comes out a lot at the games club I go to and it's always seriously popular. I can bring the Switch version in and get my money's worth from it. ^o^
I was able to change the sound of the drum on my copy for the switch.
Yeah, I discovered that once the English patch came in. I just couldn't find the menu, that's my mistake!
@@SwitchWatch Oh, that's okay
The drum has slight lag when hitting, but the buttons on it are perfect. Any suggestions? I can't read the settings menu but tried testing it.
People have suggested turning your TV to 'Game Mode'
You're probably playing on a newer (LCD/LED/OLED) TV with input lag. If you don't have a Game Mode, you may be SOL.
you can go into the settings and adjust the timing of your drum controller
The drum controller is not perfect if you play some Oni level songs(the purple devil), but adequate for flower(easy), bamboo(normal), and most tree(hard) songs. I see many Japanese RUclipsr modding it by replacing the sponge in the drum with wooden plate. I might also buy one if I cannot get my 200 dollar one designed for Wii U to work with the Switch, sad.
important question, how many songs are in the tracklist? I recall the arcade game having around 80-100 tracks
dxxpwave I can't read Japanese but on the back of my copy of the game is says 70 near some of the tracks listed on the back of the box, and some have been unlocked while playing.
I don't know the exact figure but you start with about 60 and unlock some more. I have about 71 songs currently (If I counted correctly) and the box says over 70. Maybe I still have more to unlock.
Thanks!
I've always wanted to play Taiko no tatsujin and I have a switch but doesn't the PS4 version have more songs and etc?
That would make a lot of sense actually.
is there acually a monthly give away!
We have giveaways for our Sunday Bargains videos as well as Monday' Physicals videos
Anyone got the UK version yet? Hearing mixed results on how responsive the drum can be. Mostly negative so I cancelled my order and am worried it'll be rare if I wait too long.
We have the Non EU version so can't say but that would be a shame if it has issues 🤔🦉
If it's anything like the usb controllers a simple usb to usbc cable should be enough to play it on the go.
I suppose, but I wouldn't call it convenient.
Best dark souls remastered with the drum comtroller
Would love to give it a try!
That double note really is super annoying. But yeah, eventually you can manage them after a while still not ideal though.
SwitchWatch I agree, still need to give the touchscreen controls a go after how highly you spoke of them
Is it possible to set up 2 drums for the switch?
While I haven't tried, I believe so, yes.
It's pretty long. Longer than the average game for sure.
SwitchWatch
Thank you!
The situation was bothering me, and I kept thinking I've obtained a defective cart. Now I can rest easy knowing it's not just me or my switch.
I'm sure it's because it's loading up a lot of the songs in advance, or something.
The drum might be modifiable like the PS4 one to make softer taps count
It's possible! I'm currently happy with it though. I like slamming down on it haha
So which drum controller, exactly? There are so many.
Please may I know if this can be played on Switch Lite? Thanks
Yes, but you won't have all the features like motion controls or Drum controller.
@@SwitchWatch thank you very much for you reply
Did you tried 2 players mode? It seems like there is no sound effect for 2nd player when hit the note... ...please tell me if you facing same thing or not
I just tried and it's fine for me. Maybe the second player accidentally turned it off? When you're selecting the difficulty you can change the settings sound effect settings.
Very fun game on the switch .. this will definitely keep you busy 😍😍😍
Lots of content!
Can you use the drum controller with other rhythm games on the Switch?
Potentially if the other games have button mapping and notes don't need to be held down.
have you tried putting something over the drumsticks like a tight sock or something?
Hmm.... I may have to try that.
are you a drummer? that stick spin though 6:38
Nope, but I like twirling things haha
Will the NA eShop let you play Japanese songs and English?
may i ask how you buy this game? I was unable to use my debit card on the eshop
I bought a physical copy that was imported. If you want you can buy Japanese eShop cards to use on the Japanese eShop. I think Play Asia sell them.
SwitchWatch cool thanks do they give the card code immediately after purchase or do they have to ship the card?
Actually I've never used them so I'm not sure. This is just what I've heard.
Are their still updates of new music? Free?
I think there are a couple of free packs, but most are paid
Wasn't Taiko no Tatstujin localised on the ds?
Not that I'm aware, I'd be happy to be wrong though =)
SwitchWatch maybe it was in Japanese, it was so long ago..
Western release is out and picked it up! Now I need to get the drum @@
Hope you enjoy it! (and find the drum for a reasonable price!)
Does anyone know if the drum controller will work with a US Switch? Looking forward to pick this game up and would love to play with the drum!
Edwin Amaya it should do buddy 👍
How do you set up touch screen controls? I have the demo with Japanese... T_T
They should be automatically there
switchwatch important question this is a music game how do i avoid the Nintendo claim since this is based on music?
Firstly this is a Bandai game so Nintendo wouldn't do anything, secondly it's usually the copyright owner of the music who would make the claim. As long as the music isn't fully prominent like in this video where it's much lower than my voice, RUclips's systems won't detect it.
I was able to get the game on my American switch, we just had to get another gmail to make a new account, set region as japan, then I could get the game because my mom is Japanese and she has a Japanese credit card. I love the game so far! I haven’t tried drum yet for the switch but I do have taiko drums from the Wii and Wii U
I have a couple of the Wii U ones but I haven't played them because of the region locking on the console =(
on sale for $15, June 9th
Must-buy!
@@SwitchWatch did immediately after watching your review, also glad to know it has a lotta DLC
Definitely pick up the Studio Ghibli songs!
Amazon Japan ships international that's he cheapest option
Ah yea I hear ya. I can understand the price being a bit high since it's a custom product. It'll be awhile before I grab one myself so I'm hoping these don't disappear too quickly haha. Anyways, glad you reviewed this and the controls. Also, I don't know if it's in your agenda anymore, but I'm hoping you review some shmups again sometime. It's ridiculous how many have been popping up on the switch lately!
Does the drum work on PS4, since it is also USB?
Unfortunately I don't have a PS4 to test it on, but hopefully someone else can be more helpful.
I'd love to know as well...that would save me some headache and $$...too much good stuff coming out from now till thru the end of the year!!!!
Can you plug in 2 drum controllers?
I believe so!
I have game on 3ds and there is adventure mode. Wish the switch would have one
Yeah it's a shame, I enjoyed the adventure mode in the Vita game.
Will the drum controller work with a North American console and game?
It should do =)
Got it last night played for good two hour playing it hard with motion control. Went to bed with extreme aches in my hand and arm thiught I was dying. Turns out I played the game to hard I gave myself a cyst in my wrist. 😭 now I can’t play till it better
The DLC is not Gundam. It's a kid show called "Transformable Shinkansen Robot Shinkalion".
Thanks for the info! =)
There is an option to change the drum sounds and the first dlc songs pack is gonna cost 500 yen
Thanks for the info!
Glad to help! Hope you add that info in the description so people can know.
BTW, to change the drum SFX, press the + button in the song selection menu (there's even a Pac Man sound). In addition, an English language patch is supposed to come out on August 9th
Anyone know if you can connect 2 drums to the switch?
I don’t think Aus eshop ever had it for sale like $20 :(
played the 3 ds games and the wii u ones love the series however the pricetag of thease games are hefty with the drums I wish they were cheaper!
Pretty hefty, but worth it for me.
Why is that?
I would imagine it would be difficult at best to get either, simply due to copyright issues, although with L vs P, it could be easier, now that Hasbro owns the Power Rangers franchise in it's entirety, and may be open to adapting that series in the future...as for Be the One(and I ADORE that song), the 1st two attempts at a Kamen Rider series in the States weren't exactly successful, although Dragon Knight was reasonably good and it -did- win a daytime Emmy.........we don't like to talk about Masked Rider, though.... >_
4:47 Is that the Evangelion OP. Does this game have anime OPs cause then I have to get it
Yes, it does, and also has some like Bad Apple and Sugar Song to a Bitter step as well as a song from One Piece and Pokémon. There are song packs too, and I’m pretty sure you can get night of the nights
You are not nice with me Jordan.. because of your review , now i want this game with the drums !!! grrrrrrrrrrr
Apologies! Haha. Looks like you'll have some importing to do like me
i'm looking right now on play-asia :-)
Maybe try Amazon.jp too. The send internationally and are usually cheaper =)
Thanks I will check there too (what would I do without Switchwatch) :D
6:08 is that Cruel Angels Thesis?
Yep
Here in America...I regret soooo much that I sold my PS2 Taiko Drum Master set several years ago. Please do a Western release!!! I may just have to do an import for this
Western release is due November buddy. Hope you enjoy all the best.
The LuPat theme :D
8:10 I know it's not exactly that, but ever heard of Donkey Konga. It's very similar to Taiko, and has quite a few Nintendo songs.
I got it for christmas
What a lovely gift!
love the arcade version thus i preordered it. i'm still waiting for mine to arrive..
though i'm thinking if i should get the Drum since it is pretty pricey for me at the moment
Yeah my monthly gaming budget went entirely on the game and drum. Octopath will have to wait until next pay day!
same! i cancelled my octopath limited edition so that i could get more games
i wish i could just record it on my switch
Untill I get this, I'm getting out the bongo's again ^_^
