I know it's probably a joke, but calling him a 'regular guy' in Japan seriously undermines the amount of effort this man puts in to get to this level of skill. The amount of hours put into playing the game, being a composer and all (which I know for a fact isn't an easy job). Perhaps it's because arcades are more common in Japan and much more 'youngsters' there spends a lot of time playing arcade games, but I can bet not just any random guy in Japan can play this game with that level of skill unless they put as much effort in training their skills. Props to the man for being able to play this well, I really love this game and I really respect him for his skills.

If this was in literally any other country there would be a crowd of people recording
Unfortunately, in other countries (or at least here in Brazil), Taiko arcade machines don't have the Extreme difficulty and the same songs.
Also, you have to hit the drums with all your fucking might to play

Guys, he is using his own sticks. It's pretty common in Japan that the Taiko player create their original sticks for more comfortable playing.

That is usually how it is in Asian countries. You have the dedicated arcade shops, and you have the arcade games in a shopping mall, where usually the dad and the kids go and hang out while the mom goes on a shopping spree.

My theory is that Taiko no Tatsujin is some sort of hidden military training for hand-eye coordination. I can't think of any other reasoning to how it generates so many "regular guys".

Most people here are English or American, we don't have these in our countries
Lol here in the states the last rhythm style game i remember seeing was the arcade version of guitar hero 3 and that was taken out a few years ago. Most arcade machines are sport themed (basketball, airhockey, soccer), luck based or shooters (zombie or war times.) U never see a rhythm game unless u go to a specialty arcade place which is hard to come by as well.
