B. Smetana: POLKA from the Bartered Bride | Covert Ensemble

As we set up to record the elegant Polka by one of the greatest Czech composers, Bedřich Smetana, something magical happened. Our pianist Martin Hybler, a truly multi-talented musician, drifted into a daydream. His fingers danced across the keys, but his mind wandered back to the 19th-century, imagining how KP and DC might have looked in Smetana's time.
In his vivid daydream, he saw a grand castle with KP and DC dressed in period attire, their lives intertwined with the music of the era. But the most whimsical part? He envisioned a reed factory right within the castle walls!
Curiosity piqued, we followed his imagination through the recording, eagerly waiting for the moment when DC would craft a reed. And when that moment came, it was nothing short of enchanting.
