Oh I would've reacted very similarly if he'd basically forced me to die with him on a space ship. Not that I don't get why Jim, like any human being, relied on another living soul for the next 50 years of his life on that ship. But in this scenario, you gotta understand that he practically murdered her. He took her life!
...Little did they know at that point, the ship couldn't have been saved unless they were both alive.

I guess she realised if she would kill him, she would end up not any better that he is, and above everything else, will be left alone herself on the whole ship. Jim is the character she hates, but he is at least someone alive to feel not alone.
Not at this moment. She realizes when he is about to die at the end, that she will be alone and that fear makes her forgive him. At this point she is just angry and killing him would not be punishment enough.

@@boobo i dont think the being alone is what made her forgive him it was the fact that she realized that if he had not woken her up he would have killed himself and that would have led to the entire ship being destroyed. which is why she decides to stay awake with him because without him she would not be alive.
@@zachmoyer1849 she also starts to LOVE him in the end. That's y she REFUSED to hybernate in the pod in the end even though it was available as she knew she will NOT be able to spend the rest of her life with Jim. So she CHOSE her destiny in the end.
I feel this is the only movie where if anyone asked a “What if” question, there would be a very predictable answer.
For example:
-If Jim killed himself: Gus would be alone; he’d die; and the ship blows up
-If Jim didn’t wake up Aurora: He’d meet Gus; he’d die; there would be no one to help Jim save the Ship; and the ship blows up
-If Aurora killed Jim at 0:51: She’d then have a nervous breakdown for killing him; she meets Gus; he’d die: there would be no one to help Aurora save the ship; and the ship blows up
See what I mean?
Goes back to the theory that the ship woke Jim up on purpose (even though it seems totally random considering it was a tiny meteorite). But the ship saw a failure and controlled it the best it could by waking Jim up.

Gus would initiate a security procedure that would wake up several crew members to assist him. Before such an expedition could begin, many scenarios had to be thought through.
The Biblical message here is one of forgiveness. Aurora "forgives" Jim at that last moment and opts not to bash his brains in and Jim "submits" to Aurora and doesn't really defend himself. He could have but opted not to do so. So God the Father is pleased with His children and their decisions here to forgive and (as a result) He allows them to save themselves instead of killing all of them.
Stupid bartender, he told him to keep a secret? Moral of story never trust any bartender.
In the bartenders defense, the scene right before he told her, they said to him “there’s no secrets between us”. Which Jim had told the bartender to keep it a secret until he tells her. I still stand with never trusting any bartender though 🤣
I wonder how any other human would act or react if they were stranded, alone, on a ship, for the rest of their days. With the crew fast asleep right next to them, just waiting to be woken.

I can’t only because they fall in love in the end. It’s such a reality breaker for me and the Stockholm-level manipulation he uses through the movie with all his woe-is-me talk to her after she realizes is stomach churning. Unfortunate because they are great actors and the movie itself looks well pictured

This film is absolutely creepy if you reverse the order. We could have gotten a movie about pure existential dread, loneliness and desperation does to a man. But what we got is a typical hollywood romcom in space
The only sad thing is the view of narcissistic people who for the sake of "moral values" would rather spend a lifetime on a spaceship feeling alone and be miserable. I loved the film and have it on Blu-Ray 3D.
The "you took my life" and "murder" stuff is wrong. She's still alive...and will live out her life. Jim just made a decision on how and where she was going to have to live that life. Which was wrong, but done in a moment of human weakness that is easily understandable if not forgivable.

This is not a cruise ship they are on but a Higgins boat headed to Omaha beach on 6 Jun 44. The ship IS going to blow up and the Avalon woke up Jim, a talented engineer to help fix her. But the ship like Arthur does not understand human feelings. In a moment of post suicidal depression Jim wakes Aurora. Now Aurora has a fantastic adventure to write about. And I can tell you this if Jim DID NOT wake Aurora but someone else, she would be pissssed.
Okay he shouldn’t have been able to walk or move a whole lot and he had no bruises on his face.

I can understand being angry. But that's just suicidal.
Also I'm not as forgiving as him. If I was treated this way, even if it was my fault, the relationship would be over. I would never forget the fact that she can just attack me out of the blue just because she's angry. And I'd rather be alone than risk that. So yeah, she'd end up isolated on this ship for a few decades with me constantly in my room. I wouldn't try to say that I'm sorry because I feel no need to apologize to someone who came this close to killing me.
If it was the other way around, a woman wouldn't last a year. She'd last about a week before waking up a man - and worse have zero guilt about it.

I didn't like the show because the whole time you know of his deceit and weakness, and so at no point could you feel happy for them/him. And you are just waiting for the moment she finds out.
Literally this whole speech is manipulation, I loathe this movie so much. She should have never communicated with him again. The special torture of seeing another person, the ONLY other person, and knowing they will NEVER even acknowledge you’re there is a special torture. They messed up with this Stockholm syndrome trash

This movie is the exact type of movie they should remake, not all the perfect classics that can't be improved. Conceptually this movie is really good. But it was so poorly executed that it's pretty forgettable. Remake it with a way better script, remove the dumb "we have to save the ship" stuff and just make it them coming to terms with the situation. Maybe he could die of a heart attack or something before they fully make-up, and then a few years later she wakes someone up because who can really blame them? boom credits. Idk?

I guess I can get her forgiving him if nothing else out of desperation because she would be alone too but the whole she chooses to stay with him over being put back into hibernation made the whole movie so unrealistic even for plot reasons he basically chose too destroy her life on purpose I get his reasoning but her choosing to stay with him over getting her life back was just bad writing a better ending would be he dies then she wakes somebody else in the end out of desperation thats a bittersweet ending and makes more sense
