It drives me absolutely nuts when folks don't move out of the way of emergency vehicles. And it's not because they are rude, but because they aren't paying attention to what's going on around them. They get in their own little world, never check their mirrors, and generally only look around them for about 25 feet in the direction they are travelling. You can say stuff like "If it was their property/family in need..." but in reality, they aren't in our reality. Plain and simple.

Ridiculous to see the number of cars, etc. playing "beat the fire truck to the intersection." There should be a camera on the front of every emergency vehicle that could take a picture of a vehicle that WON'T get out of their way. If they can do it with Red Light cameras, they can do it with emergency vehicles.
P Mac how do you be expected to move out of the way of a car that only has flashing RED lights? If they wanted to be seen, then they need to copy the uk and Europe, which have flashing blue lights that can be spotted a mile off!

I think rarest is a stretch for most of these. Rarest vs. not being used to seeing them are completely different things, like half of the FDNY ones weren’t that rare.

Luna McLean Since Ford stopped making them, Replacement parts have become harder to get and the Crown Vics themselves(While lovely cars) are horribly inefficient so most are being replaced by Toyota Camry’s or more economic Japanese cars

Where are the rare ones??? I expected to see horse drawn steam powered pumpers. All I saw were Fire department vehicles except for the Salvation Army and I'm pretty sure they don't put out fires.

There not underutilized, they go out only when needed, and since that is um soo little that makes them rare.

Let this be a public service announcement that “when there’s sirens and lights, pull to the right!”
Some great footage there!! A couple of things I want to point out though. Here in Australia as far as I'm aware ALL ambulance/fire/police in all states have been running a 50/50 combination of red/blue beacons front and back for at least ten years because of workplace safety regulations. Second, when stuck in traffic at traffic lights we turn the siren off and just sit in the traffic until the lights turn green, if a vehicle runs a red light to allow us passage and has an accident we will be the ones going to court for 'pushing' the vehicle though the red light.. I would love to hear US feedback.....
In the US, if you’re at a red light snd there is an emergency vehicle behind you, you need to proceed with caution/ pull to the right/ get out of the way. I don’t really know the legal stuff but I don’t think they’re allowed to go straight through a red light, only turn right
