Dang and it barely released like a year ago. Sadly bruh I'd say the 90s storylines go harder than the new ones

@mentvltrillness so far Hardware is the only one I'm feeling. Static could've been it for me but I don't like how they wrote him as an angry teen plus they made him lighter than his original skin tone. It's not that hard to make him dark skinned fr.
Also, I enjoy other modern black comics like New Masters, Killadelphia, and Nita Hawe's Nightmare Blog. Check them out if you haven't 👍🏿

The cultural perspective Dwayne made reference to is exactly the reason why there needs to be greater diversity in the comic book industry. Rather than two dimensional charicatures and stereotypes, everyone in this society has a right to see themselves accurately represented in the art they consume. Hopefully, Dwayne and Milestone will serve as motivation for future African American artists and businessmen.

Hardware was my favorite book. Don't get me wrong. I liked the other books, but Hardware was my favorite of the Milestone heroes.

I've been slowly revisiting/catching up on all of early to middle late Post-Crisis Superman, and just finished the Worlds Collide crossover. I was really putting this storyline off since I'd hated most of the long crossover arcs in the books until then, but finally reading Worlds I've fallen in love with McDuffie's (and co) scripting. I also really got attached to those Milestone characters. A couple days ago I wiki'd McDuffie and found out he passed away 2 years ago. Ugh, what a major loss.

i liked milestone i use to buy their book back in the day i couldn't get past that icon wasn't a black man but a shape shifter, if the writers of superman have no problem having a white baby from space. Then milestone writers shouldn't have had the same problem, its a mental thing of grabbing the bull by the horn which milestone writers of icon failed to do. i still respect their achievements though .

Icon's original form kind of resembles the Neo Sapiens from the 1990's classic cartoon Exo-Squad. I personally thought it was kind of brilliant Vincent. I'm just happy that when Icon told his duplicate replacement Arnus II that he didn't want to reconvert back to his original Termanian form when he eventually got back home. That would have pissed me off if he did do that. I personally think that the writers from Beast Wars Transformers took the status pod idea from Icon because I've only seen that version of reformatting done in Icon comics and the Beast Wars cartoon and Icon was out first. They never did that style of reformatting in the original Transformers cartoon series which I also found interesting.

Late as fuck. Still chiming in. I think Icon being a shapeshifter is an incredibly important and powerful choice.
He's an individual whose impact and influence on his world could have been limitless. Except, of course, it wasn't allowed to be.
Due to random chance he was 'born' black. The fact that he was influenced both the way he was perceived and his ability to navigate the culture of the world he found himself in.
It forces the reader to consider the alternative. How his life and his impact would have been different if by chance he'd 'born' white.

@Atakumosa Milestone didn't "let" DC murder Static (the character & original comic was called Static, the show's called Static Shock as is the upcoming comic) or any of the Milestone properties. They were further integrated into the DCU fairly recently thanks mostly to Mr. McDuffie's work. Many characters will find a place in Static Shock and other titles as well. Check out Mr. Terrific, Voodoo, and Batwing in the reboot too. DC has a lot of characters of color. Just wish they had more creators.

    Great video.
Milestone characters should have animated series....animation and video games is the arena that continues to ignore(Static the exception) the black superhero.
I remember I liked the look of Icon but I wish the character was a black alien who look human but instead he was a alien humanoid that shape-shifted to appear human. But I understand the symbolism behind it because Rocket would be the chosen one.

Well with the upcoming Milestone 2.0 series later on in 2015 I'm hoping they become transmedia this time around and are able to get action figures, cartoons, video games, and apparel because I would totally support it if they were to do so.

I'm late on this topic (2 years) but I agree with you, however you have to realize these guys are working artists and are not rich. They have to put food on the tables and could not afford to further projects that required the sacrifice required. Writing and art takes a tremendous amount of time and energy. They likely felt they didn't have either if they were not getting immediate gratification..aka paid
