    Hello good people. You need to clarify the difference between AREA and VOLUME. Room size is Meters square or m2 witch means length x width, so 3x4,5m is 13,5 m2 NOT 30m3. This is known as AREA. Room VOLUME or m3, is width x length x height, and is referred to as Cubic meters.

    • @FRCVIDS
      @FRCVIDS 2 года назад +1

      I was scratching my head. My math was not working out. So, we are talking about cubic meters (volume) not simply area?

    • @2411midas
      @2411midas 2 года назад +5

      @@FRCVIDS Both! the guy simply mixes them up, when you talk about room size you can mean both area AND volume. Its like saying that guy is huge!, does that mean tall, heavy or both? - you need to clarify. When he says room size, he means room volume (width x height x length). I am an audio engineer and we usually mean room area, when we say room size (width x length) because most house rooms usually have about the same height.

    Well I have the biggest Genelec Ones (8361A) in a very small room. I believe there’s no such as speakers too big for a room. It’s more about monitoring TOO LOUD in a small room. Top quality larger speakers are more enjoyable a medium low volume. Mixing and Mastering at low volume on quality large speakers are even better because you’ll be able to monitor bass frequencies in greater detail and accuracy.

    Well, I got a small room with BIG speaker (JBL4435) oh, they are used in monitoring and mastering room. Thus, very small room. With these and others, you'll have a better listening experience at low to very low volume. Forget the nodes and all the rest, listen with your ears they won't deceived you.

    I wonder if anyone else is reading this ... My room is about 20m2. Convince me, really, to use bookshelf speakers. I plan to buy the ML ESL 9 or 11a (slightly towards 11) I listen at low volume. I've never had a small speaker before. From the beginning of my audio history, I had floor standers, maybe not too big (5 inches mid woofer), but standing on the floor. I have a lot of power because I even thought about ML ESL 13a 😂😂😂 Now I have come to the point where my heart says YES, you want it, you need it, but my mind after all the movies I saw on YT tells me that I will regret it, I think. Due to the size and weight of the speakers, I cannot bring them to my apartment to listen to them being played and return. 😢Both have 8" bass driver, so this will by huge improvement, and it pushes me as I mentioned before to ESL 11a due to ARC onboard. So, task is simple, please convince me, to not to buy floor standing speakers.

    • @alexandrefernandes6286
      @alexandrefernandes6286 2 года назад

      I don't think you'll regret the speakers with the larger 8" drivers at all. I have always felt speakers with larger drivers can fill the room with a pleasurable sound much easier than the little bookshelf ones.
      The real problem with large drivers is the detail you'll get out of them. They have more mass and they require way more power to be driven accurately at a good sound pressure level.
      If your amplifier is up to the task I would go for it.

      @@alexandrefernandes6286 I didn't want to say directly what kind of speakers they were. I wanted an objective opinion about placing such large speakers in a room of such dimensions. I don’t mean to be rude, but who are you and why should anyone trust your advice? There’s no references to scientific studies in your video.
    Acoustic Insider says to buy the biggest that can fit (physically) in your room without compromising on listening position.
    I want to buy a pair of HEDD Type 20s for my 235x370cm room, which is 245cm in height. But, you’re all confusing the fook out of everyone.
    Can nobody give a real answer with science/case studies?

    • @living_entertainment
      @living_entertainment  2 года назад

      We aren't in the business of science, our entire channel is based on our first-hand experiences with Hi-Fi and what we personally hear. If all you are interested in are numbers there are plenty of other sources you can reference for information.
      While yes, there is a lot of merit to the idea of getting the biggest speakers you can fit in your room that is always going to be speaker-dependent, for example, we had a pair of Monitor Audio Platinum 300 in our listening room and they overloaded the room even at low volumes meaning we had to then also do a lot of very special and deliberate acoustic treatment to the room to negate that.
      It also doesn't take into account a customer's budget, should a customer in a smaller room invest in lesser quality floorstanders when they could get higher quality bookshelf speakers for the same price?
      The speakers you are referencing are also studio monitors which usually require a different placement to hi-fi speakers as they are generally designed around nearfield listening for sound mixing at a desk as opposed to hi-fi speakers which are almost universally engineered around the idea of the listener sitting meters away on a lounge.
      If you are looking to set up a room for audio engineering work as your choice of speakers implies, regardless of if it's for video content or for music then the contents of this video don't really apply to your situation and you need to be researching setting up an audio mixing space instead of a hi-fi listening space.
