Jeff, you crazy guy. You took this video at the dealer back in 1985 and saved it till now to show. Because there is no other explanation for the condition of this car. WOW. ;) I use to love these as well. To bad no PW. Or T Tops.
I really them too. Like you said, the performance was lacking a bit on the Monte and the 442's, but they are still really nice cars. Obviously adding some power to car that already has a small block in it is pretty easy too. Thanks for checking it out!
I always loved these over the Monte SS and the 442 with the 307 and 3.73 gears was marginally quicker. I had a friend that bought a new 1985 Monte SS with the 305 and it would run mid 10's in the 1/8th mile which is pretty slow but the car was nice. The 442 would run low 10's so I am splitting hairs and neither car impressed with it's performance but the looks were there. Now, about the Buick GN of the mid and late 80's ? LOL Still considered pretty fast even by today's standards.
My friend did that with an 84 Trans Am.He drove it on rare occasion the first few yrs & then parked it. Same thing, rubber was going bad. It is nice that some people do that. It makes for great survivors but they need to drive them on occasion just to keep things moving & working. To be honest I don't even think cars made in the 80s will be worth lots for a long time unless they are a special edition or something they didn't make lots of. My friends car is a standard TA & they made tons of those.
A lot of people say four forty two, I used to as well....but four four two is technically correct. The name stands for four barrel, four speed, dual exhaust.
I think the "Heavy Chevy" was a 72 wasn't it? 73 was the next generation. Mike Musto covered a 73 Chevelle on his show Big Muscle on the Drive channel. It was called the Bank Robber Special....that thing is cool, take a look at it if you haven't seen it.
307, lol. Always makes me laugh. I'm sure my first car (82 Regal) has long since been scrapped, but if I ever did stumble upon it, I'd really like to restore it. I'd keep it maroon on maroon, but put a 351W-C4-9" under her. I loved that car, I just didn't appreciate the worn out 3.8.
I remember renting a Cutlass Supreme of that year back in the day and thinking what a great car. Felt like a million bucks. Have a neighbor that bought the Buick Grand National and parked it in his garage back in 1985 and there is sits to this day. No miles, but showing signs of deterioration from just sitting. Mostly dry rot. Sad
The weirdest thing about these cars is if you are sitting in the back your view makes it look like you are on the wrong side of the road. I have no idea why that is.
A friend of mine had a Regal like yours when we were just out of high school. His had a small block with a huge cam in it....way too big of cam actually. Honestly it ran like complete crap, but it sure sounded mean.
Oh, no,no,no, don't you dare call that car a classic!! I graduated HS in 86. Nothing made while I was in HS is a classic yet. Waaaaaa, Waaaaaa, Waaaaaa. I am old. Nooooooooo. lol :) Actually, that is a nice car. I would love to have it. Plus, it may be a classic someday.
Depending on options, 15-16k, my 85 442 has 82,000 original miles on it, all paperwork including window sticker, bought it off original owner, real clean car sticker on mine was 15k and change.
Olds by this time should've dropped the 442. This body shell was nothing to do with personifying a muscle car. Cutlass was a more luxury biased car by now. They could've made a European luxury sport suspension version of this car shell...the Salon or Touring version. But drop the 442 that competed years ago with the Pontiac GTO and Chevelle SS.
I had one new in 1985. It was an absolute piece of GM junk. It was towed about 15 times in 2 years I owned it. Two new transmissions, two new air conditioning compressors, it used a quart of oil for each tank of gas and it was starting to rust. It was my first and last GM product.
It definitely is a well-preserved example. I think they're great looking cars. Thanks for checking it out my friend!
Glad it brought back some memories for you. Thanks for checking it out!
Best looking car from that period!

A 455 sure would wake things up. Thanks for checking it out!
Thanks for checking it out!
I like the body style and I actually like the interior on this one as well. It could definitely use some more power, but that's pretty easy to remedy.
They definitely took really good care of it. Thanks for checking it out!
Thanks for taking a look!
Thanks for checking it out George!
"442 it came with the growl" - bankroll fresh
Rip
Yeah, I like this one too. It's a nice clean car, looks really good in black. Thanks for checking it out my friend!
One of my buddies had one in high school. We had fun cruisin' around in it. Nice example you have there!
Thanks for taking a look my friend!

They definitely have a luxury feel to them. This is a nice clean example too. Thank for having a look my friend!

It started as a hobby, but it has turned into a job. At least it's a job that I really love to do.
Glad you liked it. Thanks for watching!
It really is a nice example, thanks for taking a look!
Very beautifull this Oldsmobile 442 1985. I love this car and interessed. I want this car and interessed. How much? What is the price? For sale? Sold?
Very sharp Olds. Thanks for doing a video on this one Jeff.
Yeah, most cars were under powered at that time. At least the 3.73's will let it burn a little rubber.
Glad you like it. Thanks for watching!

I had a 76 442 with the 455.. it was a beast💪🏾
I was researching the 85-87 442 and the 307 V8, Oldsmobile built it a little tougher than it's counterpart, Monte Carlo SS and Buick Regal 😁
Maybe you're a classic now too I guess :) It really is a nice example. You don't see too many of these anymore. Thanks for taking a look!
Nice reminded me of my moms 80 cutlass supreme, tks for the show...CJ..
This car is a bad ass nice find
You are absolutely right. All the rubber is drying up.
They really are nice, smooth driving cars. That sucks that they stole yours.
A lot of people say four forty two, I used to as well....but four four two is technically correct. The name stands for four barrel, four speed, dual exhaust.
You definitely don't see too many of them anymore.
really nice car, trhanks for the video pal I appreciate all your videos, especially the OLDSMOBILES !!! Keep em coming !!
That's really sad that the Grand National is just sitting there. It's one of my all-time favorite cars.
Great car. The engines were are little under powered but the 3:73 geared rear end made up for it.
Thanks for watching!
I have seen that problem with the bumpers pretty often. I've seen it on a lot of Buick Regals for some reason. This one sure looks nice still though.
Beautiful looking motor!
To bad it is such a dog!
I had a 73 Chevelle that originally came with a 307. I'm sure this one does have a quadrajet up top.
Beautiful car

Nice car
thanks man you show some great cars.
Love this yr 442
That's a good looking car very clean
For any one that don't know 442 Stands for, 4 speed,4 barrel carburetor, dual exhaust
I wish I could have made it too, I'm sure it would have been a fun time.
Beautiful car! very clean!
Très beau véhicule et à de la classe,je l’adore
Sharp!

Yes, I loved the GMs of that era, though the build quality had much to be desired.
I guess I should have thought of that....I could have rambled on a little more I'm sure.
A friend of mine had a Regal like yours when we were just out of high school. His had a small block with a huge cam in it....way too big of cam actually. Honestly it ran like complete crap, but it sure sounded mean.
Love it!
Very nice car. I think I liked the Grand Prix just a smidgen more.
I have an 85 442. Since when did they come with a regular shifter like the salon? I thought they all had dual gate or lightening rod...
I got a 85 442 wit same shifter
Cool Car
Great car. Seems like this car has fender mounted cornering lamps. Odd, I only saw one on the drivers side. What's up with that?
Bonjours et nous aimons cette voiture est très belle
I love your vids, I got to ask you though, what do you do for a real job? Is this a hobby? Please keep this hobby up..
Sweet
My mother was owned when I was 5 years in 1986

Your mother was owned lol
Oh, no,no,no, don't you dare call that car a classic!! I graduated HS in 86. Nothing made while I was in HS is a classic yet. Waaaaaa, Waaaaaa, Waaaaaa. I am old. Nooooooooo. lol :) Actually, that is a nice car. I would love to have it. Plus, it may be a classic someday.
Is that gateway classic the actual website to buy a car?
455 would Slide Raat in Thar.......What a Bitchin Car ...my Fathers Oldsmobile !!!
In a 1985 if you order this brand new what would be the asking price?
Depending on options, 15-16k, my 85 442 has 82,000 original miles on it, all paperwork including window sticker, bought it off original owner, real clean car sticker on mine was 15k and change.
Just needs the 307 removed , and replace with a 425 Olds, with a shift kit. 85 mph speedo LOL!
But save the 307 for originality

James Dennis a lot I see are still original and good condition. You got a GM Monday or Friday car? ha ha
Nice car...really too bad it was a dog.
It's pretty easy to throw some more horsepower under the hood.
Had an 84 cutlass and had SOOOO much trouble I can't begin to mention all the stuff that broke on it......terrible car!!!
Cameron Patterson You must have had a lemon cause I had 2 cutlasses and they were tanks.
They definitely took really good care of it. Thanks for checking it out!
You definitely don't see too many of them anymore.
