They did really love each other, even if it was more like best friends than anything else.
The ancient Greeks had words for 8 types of love.
Eros was passionate, sexual attraction. But then there was Philia (deep friendship), ludus (playful, flirtatious), agape (selfless, all-encompassing), pragma (long-standing, mature), philautia (self), storge (familial), and mania (obsessive).
Feels like we need to bring back some of these terms

Platonic soulmates. I love their relationship.
I LOVED how their relationship was portrayed. they were absolutely in love with each other. just not like that. they needed one another, as friends and confidants. there were no two closer people in the world, and they were going to take it down together. fantastic acting from Lucy, too.
Their relationship was so well written. No one knew the them better than the other and their phenomenal acting really made it feel more real

Okay, but woman to woman if she knew something like this......like morally it isn't WRONG to tell her to try to keep her safe/make sure she gets checked out too. Of course she could be telling her for the wrong reasons, but if I knew something like this I would be scared for my friend, even a practical stranger...., social conventions be damned, and I would want them to at least stop having relationships with their husband if that hasn't already happened given sexual orientation!! They were engaged to be married early on in their relationship. I wonder if they were secretly married.
I’ve always firmly believed that your soulmate doesn’t always have to be romantic. You can find the love of your life, a romantic partner to spend all your life with, but they may not be your soulmate. These two were soulmates. They shared a love that transcended romance and intimacy. They loved each other in a way that was so pure and true that even with all of the chaos surrounding them, they were still able to see each other through it.
Thankyou. I always say that endgame is romantic and soulmate is platonic.
The dream is to have both, with one person.
Sounds like someone saw Dawson's creek
@roseoftheday582 they had intimacy, that’s how true love develops. Intimacy is about trust and vulnerability resulting in a strong bond between them.
There are a lot of people in sexual relationships that lack intimacy. There’s no emotional bond, only the physical bond of coitus.

The doctor's wife didn't tell her to shame her or start drama, she was worried about her not knowing if she was also sleeping with him and could get it. Idk what the law was then because it was new but now if you knowing have a disease that can pass through sex that can kill you, you can be charged with some type of attempted murder charge. it wasn't ethically right of the wife to tell her(or even the fact that the wife knew being told by the doctor)but it was morally right. But I also don't think hippa rights were even around then either so.... if that is correct then no laws were broken.
You can break confidentiality as a doctor if you know that your patient isn’t willing to let their loved ones know and that there is a high risk of their loved ones contracting the disease. Obviously not in a public setting like this but you might call them into the clinic or give them a phone call etc.
Didn't the doctor's wife go on to tell everyone else as well, though? Or was that the best friend? I can't remember...
This was a time when people thought HIV was passed through any physical contact, so there were no laws about spreading it or informing your partners. And HIPAA wasn't passed until the 90s, so the dr didn't break any laws either. The drs wife went on to tell everyone in town about it, so her intentions were definitely not pure. It was just hot gossip to her.
It still is the law. If you know you have AIDS and still having sex with others then yes you are going to jail. I read such case 7-8 yrs ago in India where a boy was having sex and leaving note telling them that he wants to spread it before he dies. The same happened during covid. If you know you have a infected family member and didn't inform authority (that too happened a lot in beginning of Covid) then charges will be pressed bcz you are risking others lives.
Back then there were no real confidentiality laws. Your insurance company could tell your job you have hiv and you’d get fired. It was a time of mass hysteria and fear regarding transmission.
They are soulmates people often think that soulmates have to be romantic. No, they don’t. It is just the person that you need in your life and they are soulmates.

Honestly, even if not in the best way, I appreciate the doctor’s wife telling her. Many women get infected by their husbands.
Probably not this one
You think there haven't been men that have been infected by their cheating wives???
Historically untrue, HIV started in the late 50s, the first female did not contract until 1981. Many gay men followed a more strict "have a couple kids then never have sex again" lifestyle, and if they did it was largely with protection.
It wasn't good manners to talk about your sex life, so many women simply thought it was normal that men lost the desire after having their chosen amount of children. Interestingly enough, it was more likely that drxgs were the cause of the boom in the 80s, causing more women to contract. My grandmother used to tell us how her friends would share needles... Her best friend got HIV while being a virgin; his father kxlled him for "being gay" though... I'm sure sexual experimentations didn't help, though.
Now in today's world, absolutely do partners spread it - though largely unintentionally. Young people simply are not taught that they need to get tested regularly once becoming sexually active, and regardless of the status of their relationship. Just because YOU think you are committed doesn't mean the other party agrees.
The scene really made me cry😢 omg this show was so good, especially about them❤

She ate this role so bad😭😭😭
Simone was by far my favorite wife from the series. Their story really demonstrated true unconditional love and loyalty. She wasn’t gonna let anyone take her husband down and she was definitely not going to leave him at his most vulnerable moment.
She did the right thing by warning her. Not warning someone of an obvious danger is despicable.
Lucy Liu is so under-appreciated, she ALWAYS brings 100%
They had the best chemistry
There story made me cry the most he made her feel like she was still the love of his life...and treated her so well..
