  • GRP Lining Services. The all too familiar situation of another painted pond being fibreglassed. Bill and Steph were at the end of their tether with their leaking pond having tried two brands of pond paint. Neither could withstand the fracture caused by the method the pond was built but they can now look forward to enjoying the pond worry free. Matt this is fantastic. I also painted our pond with Pond Pro paint after hubby died in an effort to stop leaks. 6 coats later, 98% of pond sealed, but still leaking where a wet edge was (when we added to the size of the pond.) Having watched you I have learnt heaps. Wish I could afford to bring you out to Australia!

    I hand built mine ! I used a grid of steel 1/4" thick 2 x2 and wired it all together . I used premixed bag concrete ! Ponds 21long and 7 to 10 ' wide by 2 to 4 foot deep and I sealed it with oil based gloss paint ! It took 2 month's of leaching out hydrocarbons and building a bacterial layer before adding fish ! The ponds now 12 years old never had a crack or leak ! I'm now finishing a upper pond 16 longx8 wide x3 deep ! I never had a filter just recirculating pump and plants ! My koi keep breeding like rat's !

    Hi matt
    I am currently building my pond. I am going to fibreglass straight onto the concrete blocks. Do I need to paint it with anything first. Thanks alot

      Best to consult the materials supplier as they’ll know the properties of the resin.

    Hi Grp lining. I have bought myself a self supporting fibreglass pond that’s a good few years old. I’d like to refurbish it and paint it black. Can you advise me of a product that’s works well please??

      Yes the tank in fibreglass. Can I just buy a paint that I can just use a roller to repaint it.

    If you were building your perfect pond, money no object, would you use fibreglass?

    • @GRPLiningServices
      @GRPLiningServices  7 лет назад

      What other material could offer the same features and benefits of fibreglass or is this a trick question?

    • @huggybear1652
      @huggybear1652 7 лет назад

      GRPLiningServices no genuine question. Just wondering, if cost was no issue, and any material available, you would still use fibreglass.
      Just found your channel, so looking back over some of the vids and there's some really impressive ponds there. You make it look very easy!

    If this was your own pond would you put tissue paper on all of the surfaces?

    • @GRPLiningServices
      @GRPLiningServices  6 лет назад +2

      Absolutely. Except it's not tissue paper, is called surface tissue or surfacing veil. It's an extremely fine layer of fibreglass called ECR-30 S.

      @@GRPLiningServices I'm in the middle of putting a pond together. I've reinforced it. Once I've concreted it I'm thinking of fibreglassing. But not sure as money is tight. But I know it will save me the agro of getting any leaks in the future. Just trying to figure out a round about price.
