Thanks Aaron! I already had the Irwin wire stripper in my Amazon cart but I went back and deleted it and used your link. 👍 Do a review on smart (local) thermostats for HA! Nobody else on YT has and it's a good topic.
Personally, I would stay away from LIFX: they are preposterously expensive and work on Wifi (I prefer Zigbee to remain local/reliable/future-proof). If you don't mind about wifi, there are cheaper alternatives with good color quality such as Govee or the other brands you mention.
When I set up an older switch and light I had, I used the app to make it connect to WiFi (might be possible without as well, I didn't research this). After that they showed up on HA with the TP Link Kasa Smart integration if you put in the IP address (just give it a static lease). It claims it can also use discovery if you leave it blank, although that did not work for me (likely since I run HA in a docker container on a bridge network). Overall not too bad, and once setup it definitely used local control since it was snappy and required no account info.

You the man. Appreciate that you only call out locally controlled devices that you've tested.
Thanks man! I hope you find this useful!
Water leak sensor video was super important, thank you for it!
Ah you watched it, awesome! Thanks! 🙏
Not bad! Love how you focused on local, and included some harder core stuff like heat guns and soldering irons. Have some engagement!
Thanks dude, much appreciated!!

Thanks Scott!! It's an excellent stripper.
I definitely will! There are a few out there that I haven't seen many videos on
Thanks for this vid. Def making a few purchases~
Awesome, glad it helped!! thanks!

Are the Kasa light bulbs local only? I thought Kasa had to go through their cloud to integrate with HA.
Nope, local only! (Local polling)
